Enneagram Types on Thanksgiving

I'm a type 5 and I would totally have 1's spreadsheet with a report of how many of each allergy so my type 9 wife (who grew up with a type 2 mom) could make enough of each alternate dish for each type.

I feel like the 4 would lead some thanksgiving prayer ritual and then ask around the table to see what everyone was grateful for.

As a 5, I 1000% endorse this video.

I think the 9 would be more like this: (some other people are talking their ears off about everything and nothing) “Yeah...yeah...that’s cool...yeah...yeah...okay...” (Suddenly an argument about politics breaks out at the table) “I need a breather. Let me know when the turkey’s finally ready.”

It’s a really cute video, but I feel like it portrays a lot of the caricatures of Enneagram types. Sometimes that’s absolutely fun and I enjoyed this video for that very reason, but I’d really love to see these comedy sketches with healthy versions of each number. As a 1 I almost never see any depiction other than busy organizational logistics managers and I think there’s a lot missing in most of the numbers about their superpowers. Like how the 3 (yes the three) is so good at making people at ease and bringing them together by making them feel known and loved, how the 7 really prepares ahead of time so that they can have as much fun as possible, and how the 4 really wants to have meaningful conversations with others, and what it looks like for an 8 to show love intentionally to those around them. I think sketches relating to numbers in their healthy spaces and looking at their core motivations is something I would LOVE to see more in pop culture.

They are all GREAT takes on the types but Leeann just nails the 4 & 7 types and Michelle NAILS the 5, 6 & 8.

I told my wife (6) that it doesn’t represent me (8). She choked on her coffee.

I totally understand that this video is made in a way to be funny and exaggerate the different enneagram types and their stereotypes, but I feel like whenever the enneagram type 6 is shown in these videos the interpretation is not as realistic or relatable personally coming from a type 6 as well. Because I believe as a type 6, we do not always plan for the worst-case scenario but when we do it is usually for something that is a more rational situation and that could actually possibly happen. And also personally as a type 6, I believe we put more weight and importance on loyalty and trust in our relationships; And so we usually worry more about people betraying us, rejecting us, and also have a fear of being alone and having no security. Just an insight and suggestion to possibly consider for making enneagram videos in the future.

The videos are funny and great but I do think types 6s are being overly dramatized. I guess that's the point. But as a type 6, I wouldn't be worried about having a fire extinguisher. I do burn food alot and I just get nervous for it not being perfect. I hate making mistakes and fear failing so if I did make a mistake on messing up the turkey,I'd be worried everyone would be mad at me and disown me. Not only that I would have to waste more money by going to the store and buying another turkey but what if they dont have the same Turkey then that would ruin the whole dinner because it would've taken me approximately 3 minutes to decide which brand and size of turkey I wanted in order for it to be enough for everyone, I always try and make sure I make smart shopping decisions because if I dont I wont have what I need. But then I'd go to the checkout counter just to tell the cashier to wait while I exchange the turkey in fear of it not being enough for everyone. Because if it isnt thanksgiving would be ruined because of me and everyone would leave me out because I made a mistake. They probably wont even feed me. They probably would go out to a restaurant for dinner and tell me I couldnt come to just eat at home, I'd be undeserving and if I did go I would be choking back tears and drinking water without food because I can't eat if I'm sad and disappointed in myself. Nobody would tell me to eat anything because they may think I didnt care about their food being cooked properly in the first place but they dont ask if I cared because they are so focused on blaming me. It wouldn't be entirely my fault but it would feel that way.
