ENNEAGRAM & WINGS || TYPE FOUR 

Thank you for the wing focus! I am a 4 with a very heavy 3 wing in my professional work life, but a moderate 5 wing in my personal life. Very outgoing within the work life cocoon, but very introverted when it comes to being myself in social situations. It’s actually making it hard for me to pinpoint my instinctual variant! Or even stack them properly. Thank you again for your insight! I am also in a 12 step recovery group here in Houston. The enneagram has opened my eyes to a lot surrounding my past struggle with addiction as well. Blessings!

I'm a complete believer in Tri-Type where we have a core type, and also 2 dominant types from 2 of the other intelligence centers, and I believe that this shows to a greater degree why people of the same core type can look completely different from one another. I'm personally a core type 9, that use to mistype as a type 4. I very heavily take on qualities of the type 4, and also relate to the descriptions of the type 4 within the Riso/Hudson Enneagram books even more than I relate to even my own core type 9. I am a highly emotionally inward drawn, individualistic type 9 that focuses very heavily upon his own inner world. I focus heavily upon what is missing, and upon the frustrating negative traits of myself. I struggle heavily with envy. I relate heavily to Beatrice Chestnut's description of the "Sunny" type 4. But, I'm not a core type 4. I know that I am a core type 9 because of my reaction under stress is to become reactive like a type 6. I have literally seen my line to 6 come in to play. Anyway your joke about somebody saying that they have other types from the other 2 intelligence centers is a bit misleading whether you believe in Tri-Type or not. I also don't believe that people's wings within their types can shift from one wing to the other, though I am admittedly not going to argue that with certainty. I am however a completely convinced believer in Tri-Type theory of the Enneagram. I type as an Fi-Ne INFP Sp/Sx 9w1. 946 The Seeker, 9w1-4w5-6w5.

Man... Thanks very much for this. I saw you on the 'Jen the Hatmaker' podcast talking about the Type 4...and it was ticking ALL the boxes. Ive always found it hard to discern...between those two..but ..more and more i realize i am a type 4 with a VERY heavy 5 wing. This completely shows on my severe struggle to finishing things...to materialize. That's the only thing really missing in my personal development Path_ being able to surround myself with the Tribe ive always longed for.. But, for that..i need to put myself outhere, especially on the profissional side of things. I liked your Hat with the "Doing Stuff" motto, you mentioned.. Have you got any suggestions..any further pointers, on how to get my Musical album finished..my Architecture degree finished, my Photography portfolio finished....AND.. my Screenplay finished... ?? Appreciate hearing more about the 4 specifically w3. My son is that combo and to hear Torture chamber makes sense to me. His emotions to me are just that. Any tips on raising a son with this combo on how I get him to be aware and have self control (other than praying). He's been the most challenging of my 5 kids emotionally. He's totally awesome, hilarious and sweet. And complicated.

I feel there is such a huge difference between a 4w3 and 4w5. Think about MJ for instance. A typical 4w3. He did not shy away from what was sappy. He was quite open about his emotions. Not like me, who usually stay quiet. I feel like 4 w 3s have extraverted emotional expressions, and 4w5s have introverted emotional expressions. But I wonder if you as a 4 sympathize with the outcast? The dark horse, the underdog, or ponder about poetic justice, like me? Or is it that 4w3s are more like other people. "There is no tolerance of weirdness here. We want peoples people!" If you get my drift.

Wow you two fours give me hope (as a 4) to see 4s living acting normal in the world. 😂

I got 95 percent 4 and 75 percent 1, what does that mean?

I took the iEQ9 test because you recommend that one, and it tells me I am a 4. (It's not the first time I have tested that, but I also test 2 sometimes) I don't relate to enjoying poetry and fancy words, but I love music with deep lyrics, and I totally get excited about truly talented musicians. I love Billy Joel (and will bawl my head off when he decides to leave us), Pink, Lady Gaga, Elton John ... the list goes on and on. I tear up at Disneyland (and most anything beautiful really; especially people being kind to each other) because the beauty of the artistry. So many type 4 things, but i don't feel the need to be completely different, I don't really have a "dark" side, and I smile and laugh a lot like a 7. I don't like being sad. I doubt that I am a 4 often due to these things. Maybe I am a self pres???
