@@rinusvdboomen8087 She is simply amazing. I love her Expert rendition. Thank you for Telling me her name. Its been years that I have Heard this Performance, and IT STILL SOUNDS AWESOME.
Listening to this on the day of Ennio Morricone's passing is actually making me start crying. He truly was a master of film score and ingenious composing.
You're all making me cry now. Radio 3 played music of his on Monday and that brought tears to my eyes aswell. A wonderfull composer who will be very sadly missed. I don't know what's happened to the Spagetti Western Orchestra but it would be nice if they got back together again and did a tribute concert for him.
Oh.....wow.....my sentiments also....am approaching 70.....am a blessed man with a loving and caring family....a handful of amazing friends.....but an ache deep in my heart....for the things that I have missed, the things I did wrong, those who have passed away and are longer with us.....time is so precious......my wish now is to make the most of today, as yesterday is history, and tomorrow is not promised to us.....peace and love to all .....❤❤
No one can make such perfect beautiful music for American western movies than the Italians . NO ONE. THE ENTIRE WORLD KNOWS IT. Those Italian maéstros , Composers /Arrangers have no match. They are just magnificent !!!
And I might say as good as the original score if not better. That lady who plays the harmonica has so much emotion projected in her harmonica... brought tears to my eyes.
I was hooked on Ennio Morricone since 1969...To this day...Once upon a time in the West...is still the greatest western movie of all time...The music blew me away! RIP...maestro Ennio!
Me too lol, I'm a musician and I'm learning how to bend a note on the Harmonica, so that I can play along. I even love the guitar, so simple but so effective, love this tune.
Black Country Gaz ...if you are a musician you should already know how to bend a harmonica note. But since you are a musician, what key of harmonica is being used here. Is it a Marine Band or a Special 20? Hmmm could possibly be chromatic......do you think it is?
@@68blues I play the guitar and sing, not really a Harmonica lol. I have a set of blues Diatonic harps that I have used in a SKA band, but never needed to bend. It's a tricky technique, all to do with focusing a jet of air with your tongue well forward then seamlessly drawing the air in and altering the shape off the inside of your mouth, and pulling with your diaphragm. Hard to explain but it just happened and was weird. Seemed really hard but now after a couple of days it's very easy, but you have to have the knack. I guess singing all my life helps. I use a G harp, hole 6 plus bend and hole 5. You have to suck air in too not blow, crazy but rewarding, om not perfect but still pleased with the sound so far.
Once Upon a Time in the West was (is) something almost ethereal. It's just about the only film I've ever watched where for days afterwards, your mind keeps tugging you back to it. In my opinion it is THE masterpiece that nothing so far, has ever touched. Yet I could not begin to explain why this is so. Of course the stunning, haunting music combined with breath taking cinematography made it unforgettable but it was more than that. It was just incredibly special.
I really cannot believe that you are no more. Rest in Piece, Maestro Ennio Morricone. When my father first introduced me to the Dollar's trilogy, I could not believe my ears. I was listening to a style of melody and arrangement that I had never experienced before. And the feeling of wonder is still intact, years later. Thanks for showing us how less is more, how there is more to music than huge orchestral arrangements.
Yes! To me it reflects "Harmonica's (Charles Bronson) torturous soul, the pain and anger he carried for years until the final moment. The moment when he reveals what he's after, only at the point of dyin'
If you've seen the movie, the harmonica is placed in a young Charles Bronson's mouth as his brother is hung. The boy falls to the ground and as he's crying, the sound of the harmonica reflects his sobs. Very moving and haunting....
Harmonica/mouth-harp: better than the original. But when comparing the guitar in this rendition, it lacks the nasty distortion that defined the original recordings. 'Hard to get really crunchy, ripping distortion from a Gretsch, which has pickups that accentuate the fuller tones and sustain of a hollow-body instrument. I'm guessing the 1968 version, under Morricone's direction, used a Fender or Gibson, with more powerful bridge pickups, and an amp with adequate overdrive to deliver the dissonant tones that convey the seething vengefulness of Charles Bronson's character.
I think that this is by far not the best version of the song. The player is overdoing it constantly and cancels the feeling and atmosphere of the whole harmonica section. Didn’t like this performance of my favorite song of all times at all.
Don't think I've ever seen a woman with a harmonica before. Wonderful arrangement, they really captured the haunting feeling of the song, making Charles Bronson's character feel like a vengeful spirit rather than a man. RIP Morricone
There are good composers. There are great composers. There are legendary composers. And then there is The Maestro. The single greatest one of them all!
A masterpiece of music. Thank God I was a kid when I saw most westerns. They still remain a highlight in my life. Man with a harmonica. Fist full of dollars...hang em high, magnificent 7...etc
Hollywood is Hollywood my friend. How on earth can someone make a movie better than them?. You are correct in every word you say - alas we all know what we like to watch and it appears to Hollywood's dismay. In my opinion this was the best movie ever.
R.I.P. Maestro, the task of filling that void, that void of orchestrated emotion, will be harder now. I am in debt to you, for your music being a part of the soundtrack to my life, thank you.
I've listened to EVERY version of this song on YT, and this is without a doubt the BEST I've ever heard, including the one by the great Ennio Morricone himself! The tempo was totally correct (a "first"), the engineering was studio perfect, even the electric guitar tone was spot-on. This is clearly the frontrunner of all of Morricone's scores yet. Kudos.
I swear that if had been a this amazing concert I would have cried a river... Can’t believe this orchestra and how she plays the harmonica.. it’s exactly to the point like the movie 🎥 Simply epic / I’m in total awe.. I love Morricone’s music 🎶 Applause 👏🏻 and standing ovation... Thank you thank you thank you
I can hear so many things in this piece.. There is sadness, memories of a lost past, there is despair, bitter sorrow, anger fading, pain, there is something visceral in it, coming from the guts but it also communicates strength, courage and resolve in the face of the unavoidable, it lifts your soul to reflect about your final breath, your last moments, God's final Judgement incoming and what do you really live and stand for, the human condition and death. This piece is absolutely magnificent, a masterpiece.
SE LEONE NON FOSSE MORTO, QUESTI DUE CI AVREBBERO DATO ALTRI FILMS BELLISSIMI. IL SIGNORE HA DECISO COSI E NOI DOBBIAMO INCHINARCI AL SUO VOLERE. SALUTI ANTONIO
A haunting ,atmospheric and extremely evocative track, doesn't do any harm that it comes from one of, if not the best western movies ever made, in my humble opinion that is.
Ennio Morricone's scores were like soul of Sergio Leone's movies. He can make you visualize the scenes with his score. They were integral part of the narrative in these films. His score speaks & moves the story forward ! Salute to the man who made his scores tell the stories in the most fascinating way !
Stunning performance of this wonderfully versatile orchestra. Breathtaking solo's; and those horns at 2:22 -2:35! Goosebumps. The best quality, and most balanced, sound recording I could find online. This is what professionals sound like.
