I wish these tests were not stand alone, on a bench or table. Like... toss it in the trees, toss it behind an object, toss it between two buildings, like... actually use it. Drives me nuts when you see these tests in open areas, standing up right, or gingerly perched upon an object. Having used these countless times in MILSIM events, I can tell you that you ain’t placing it and walking away. You’re tossing it, it’s going to hit something, it’s going to be in suboptimal places, or they’re not going to go off. Had a few duds that started, and when they impacted the ground after a 30-40ft toss, didn’t do much. Wire pulls break, etc. would love to see a solid ~rip~ with a 20ft toss into a dense environment. I used to use EGs for obscuring enemy spider holes, windows, holdouts, etc. using the smoke to limit their ability to see out. Does that make sense? I would toss them just outside of a building entrance, into buildings, or between buildings, not in the middle of a street. The duration and volume has always been just shy of what you would hope for or need, and nothing like the thick smoke you see in Hollywood movies. The new 3RD Mil X grenades are great, also from Enola Gay IIRC.
I would definitely use this to smoke out a building with a lot of people in it so you could storm the building or wait for everyone to run out and take them out.
Is it possible to have too much smoke? As you said, for an objective this would certainly fit the bill, but one man/company strength group? May be considered overkill :-)
I am never going to use a smoke grenade ever after this incident I had with one about a year ago, I pulled the pin on a smoke grenade threw it then 5 seconds later it just exploded I was a good 50' away and my ears were ringing it had sounded like a bomb had gone off, I just kept imagining the scenario of me holding onto that smoke grenade, if I had held onto it my right hand would have been gone.
+gcwolf1 if the "06" in his username mean 2006, for when he was born, which it likely does because of his physical size and voice, which is easy to assume by watching 3 seconds of one of his videos, than he would likely be 11 or possibly 10. So that would be an 10-11 year old screeching and saying everyone is cheating. That would mean he takes up a fraction of a percent of airsofters, so you're calculations would *OBVIOUSLY* be incorrect because that would leave no room for him provided he plays and didn't just ask Siri on his iphone 7 what hurts more and chose a favorite from the pain factor. So Anyways, gcwolf1, next time you better do you're math right and maybe should pay more attention in school if you haven't graduated. Please Note; That was completely sarcastic.
