Signal on the left: 1 pair of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x20 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, and RECO LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 1 WCH 12x24 inch light with a Leotek EV Series LED, 1 Safetran 12x24 inch light with a Leotek EV Series LED, 2 pairs of Modern Industries 12x20 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Safetran gate mechanism, NEG LED gate lights, and a RECO LED gate light.
After I shot L446, I went on up to the next crossing north in Smyrna, fully expecting to have to wait for I025 here. However, just as I parked, I saw the signal next to the crossing light-up for another southbound, so I quickly got my camera set-up. Not too long after, I was able to get my fourth train of the day: CSX L443 with a lone GP40-3, running lite.
This crossing is a pretty nice one, featuring a pair of older gated cantilevers at it. It appears that the signals here were installed by the L&N back in the 1970s, and were decently original up into the 2000s. In the 2000s, the gate mast on the far side was replaced with the current one, along with both signals here having their gate mechs replaced with the current Safetran ones. Then, sometime between 2010 and 2013, CSX replaced both of the mechanical bells here (an MI/WRRS combo) with the current NEG e-bells. Finally, in 2022, CSX upgraded the crossing to LED alongside the rest of the ones on the Chattanooga Sub. At the same time, the original MI 8 inch mast lights here were replaced with the current LED 12x24s. Not entirely sure why the closer signal has a Safetran 12x24, given that all of the other 12x24s here are modern WCH heads, though it seems to have been that way since it was upgraded per ‪@EthantheRailfanner‬'s video here. Either way, it's nice to see that these older MI cantilevers from the L&N still survive, especially since they still retain their original MI 12x20 inch overhead lights. Hopefully they remain around here for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I was finally able to record this crossing in action.

Is it just me or do the gates rise too slow?
