So many things I wish we had learned in high school and college! How insurance works would certainly be beneficial for all of us. Thanks for watching :)
I inquired about obamacare and my phone blew up. HC carriers are paying an extraordinary amount of people to get business. This is why your health insurance premiums and deductibles are so high. Its just another big business profiting off our labor . I have no problem with drs hospitals or pharmaceutical companies doing so. But insurance companies are just bureaucracies stealing from everyone. At least that's the way it looks to me and what I hear from doctors and nurses.
Ugh, I hate that. You got put on a lead list. There are companies out there that set up sites to capture your data and then sell your info off to insurance agents as a "lead". It's a terrible way to build a business if you ask me. In that situation it was actually a lead company that profited off of your info but yes, I agree, the system is not perfect.
I had 60 Calls the first day I enquired and the first call was within one minute of getting off line. The calls continued until I changed phone numbers
The WORST! I'm so sorry that happened to you. I has just talking to a client last week about this too. I wish there was some kind of regulation that required those lead companies to make it clear that you are entering your information into a system like that. @@epd160
I was the top 50 health insurance brokers in CA. Obama care created a MAJOR liability to the insurance companies. They IMMEDIATELY had to pay billions of claims
I don't know everything about health insurance, but if it's through the state and they say you have zero premium, the funds must be deducted from somewhere like spousal payments, and with Medicare they want to know all your assets when you apply, are there privately owned medical coverage out there , that are not affiliated with the Social Security.
Good information in a clear manner. I'll be watching for the 2024 info video. I chose to retire early and am currently doing COBRA coverage but would like to investigate ACA options for 2024.
Hi there! Thanks for watching. Happy to help look at options. We should get more information on the available plans for 2024 closer to the end of November. Just shoot me an email and we can set up a time to chat :) jo@founderslifeandhealth.com
I plan on calling you. I am a diabetic and I have to ensure that my Dexcom G6 sensors. Insulin and Omni pod supplies are covered. I’ve noticed that the prescription list includes these items, but then when you inquire they say it’s not covered even though it was listed. Also for insulin supplies and insulin pumps. Normally you get the contracted rate as if you’ve already made you deductible upfront the only thing is it doesn’t go towards your deductible as an example insulin my cost a thousand dollars but it’s $100 on the plan because it’s priced out like you’ve already met your deductible ……but then the hundred dollars doesn’t go towards the deductible…… if that makes sense.
This video was awesome. Your presentation was very concise and clear to understand. I'm not sure you can help me but I try anyway. I have been in a health insurance nightmare for the last ten years. Thank God for Obamacare, however, I'm in a red state that will NEVER expand medicaid coverage. I'm 35 now and receive monthly LTD income (untaxed). I became disable at age 26 but, was given a technical denial from SSDI because I didn''t have enough work credits. I also was denied SSI because my LTD income exceeded the threshold amount. I'm still disable an unable to get medicaid or medicare. Basically, I'm too young and not broke enough. 😕😞 ACA has told me I can't get their insurance because my long term disability is untaxed. Now I'm up to my neck with medical bills due to needing ongoing healthcare all because I got cancer when I was young and starting my career. What a screwed up health-care system. Thanks America! 🤦🏾♀🙄
Oh my! That is a difficult one. What state are you in? Each state has different requirements so it will help me to understand the path forward if I know what state you are in. Feel free to reach out to me directly too. Shoot me an email at jo@founderslifeandhealth.com and we can figure out a time to chat.
Greetings from Miami! Thanks for an excellent video. The information is very clear. For job changes, does it matter that a job change is voluntary or involuntary?
Hi there! Thanks for watching :) No, if you are no longer receiving health benefits from a group health plan no matter if it was voluntary or involuntary, that would open up a special enrollment period and you would be able to enroll in a plan. Hope that helps!
Hi Jill. You are awesome. Great video and informative! I plan to retire at the end of 2025 after 31 years for pharmaceutical . My wife is 63 next year and do you have have any ideas what else available she can be applying for Medicare while I retire! Current she has been covered under my health insurance policy since 2001 and she hasn’t been working since 2009 and had auto accident last 2021 ( not her fault). Thank you
Happy to help! Let's schedule a time to chat so we can take the conversation off social media :) Shoot me an email at jo@founderslifeandhealth.com and we can get something on the calendar.
Still kind of not clear for me. If I retire in the middle of the year, when entering income information do I include the income I made at the first half of the year (which is considerably more than after I retire) or only include the income I will receive after I retire (pension and soc sec)?
You will enter your projected income going forward. It's often the toughest question to answer especially if you have a life change and you aren't 100% certain what your income will be but they want to use the amount you will be making while the plan is in place. Not your past income.
I forgot to report my income I was supposed to renewed last year but I was not aware of that and it was automatically renewed And I'm still on a low-income plan, but my income is higher and I don't know what to do, what I can do because I'm afraid of paying penalties or I'm afraid of paying for the benefits that I have received these years, Well, I used the insurance a lot. Because I wasn’t doing well with my mental health I went for therapy a lot but I don’t what to do should I renew again or what I don’t know
Hello! You can go in anytime and update your income. Now would be a good time to get in there and make the update. Do you have a Marketplace account? Once you log in you can find the "report a change" button and it will allow you to update. Let me know if you need help! jo@founderslifeandhealth.com
Yes but you will want to make sure you are within your enrollment window to be able to make that change. If you have a special enrollment period you would want to make sure the change is made within that period. Or you can make the change during open enrollment as well.
Is your kiddo there permanently or just for school? There are a couple of factors that would help determine how to get it set up. Call me or shoot me an email and I can help get it all figured out. 314-899-7066 or jo@founderslifeandhealth.com
Severance would actually count as income because it will show up on your taxes. Anything that will contribute to your Adjusted Gross Income will count. Hope that helps!
Hi Gail! Yep, I sure will do a video for 2024. Once the new info starts to come out for the 2024 plans and we get a little closer to Open Enrollment. Probably mid October for that one. And yes, there is a minimum but it will depend on where you live and a few other factors. Happy to help figure out the details for you if you want to shoot me an email and we can set up a time to talk. jo@founderslifeandhealth.com. And thanks for watching!!
I plan to retired in July 31, 2026 due to increased pay raise, my other option is December 31 2025 my 62 birthday is in December, which of the two is the best option for Obama care?
Congratulations on nearing retirement! There are a lot of factors in play when deciding if Marketplace coverage is best for you so it's tough to say without more information. If you qualify for a subsidy it might be higher if you wait a year but again it's hard to say without all the info. Happy to help if you want to shoot me an email. jo@founderslifeandhealth.com
Hi Jo, new to your channel. So I lost my job in September and right now my former employer is subsidizing until March 2024. When would I enroll in Obamacare?
Hi there! Shoot me an email and we can set up a time to chat. Just need to get a little more info and we can get you pointed in the right direction :) jo@founderslifeandhealth.com
Soon to be Retired is reason. ? Is COBRA a better choice that 1st year for continuing company insurance vs. Obamacare. Then claim it in second yr when I have zero earned income. Tks
Congrats on the retirement! There are so many variables in play, it's hard to say one way or the other. It would depend on what the Cobra coverage looks like, how much it's costing you and what your Marketplace options look like and cost. If it helps though, the Marketplace will want to know what your income will be going forward, not looking backward. Especially if you have a life change (like retirement) you will be using your expected income.
Hi Jo, I am relocating, same state FL but I will be looking for a job. I will not have health care and healthcare is needed for me because I am a chronic asthmatic. Cobra is out of the question. I will not be able to afford it. what will be my best choice, I look for a new job?
Hi Tina! There are other options out there. If you are moving you will qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. Marketplace might be a good fit? Let me know if you'd like to set up a time to chat and we can see what options are available.
I have a ?. Say you retire mid-year and you've already made too much money to qualify for credits - can you still get the ACA for the 2nd half of the year when you won't make much $$$? Or do I have to wait for the following year? Thank You - great video
If you are retiring you would qualify for a Special Enrollment Period so you would be able to enroll in a Marketplace plan. They would be looking at your income going forward, not going backward so with a life change like retirement they would want to know your income for retirement. You should be in good shape. Feel free to reach out if you want more help :)
Thanks for the video ❤ I actually turn 63 in January but I put 62 on my November application. The subsidy is higher for age 63. Will I get credit for age 63 since I will be that age for the entire year? Thank you
Hey there! Unfortunately no, they will not give you credit once you turn 63. The subsidy will increase for the next year though. Hope that helps! Feel free to reach out if you have more questions :)
Happy to help get her pointed in the right direction. If she has some time to give me a call or shoot me an email I can get a little more information and help point her in the right direction. jo@founderslifeandhealth.com
I recently signed up for Kaiser. when I signed up with my insurance lady, she signed me up on my net amount not my gross amount? Was she correct in taking the net amount versus the gross amount?
Hi there! Might be best to look at all of the variables if you have time. You can reach out and schedule a time for e call so we can figure out what options will work best. You can always schedule on our website at www.founderslifeandhealth.com
My phone's been blown up a year and a half since I enrolled. 1 minute after asking to be took off the call list. They are still friggin calling! My plan has been changed a half a dozen times for nothing trying to get the much needed visa card I've still yet to get. I'm gonna pay for the junk they have all done I'm sure
Hey Brent. Sounds like you have really had trouble with your plan. Are you enrolled in a Marketplace plan? I have not seen Marketplace plans that have Visa cards yet as a benefit. Just curious what state you are in and what plan you have so I can do some more research on it. The calls are the WORST! I would guess you got yourself on some kind of call list for health insurance leads. They are so annoying.
My experience with Obamacare is I have 2100 deductible but when I go to the doctor or get blood work done it first goes to the insurance company for Dallas and they show in the explanation of benefits paper what is the allowable amount that doctor can charge for the visit and I just paid that amounts Which is less than what the doctor would normally charge 8% without health insurance I just wish Republicans would stop playing around with Healthcare so that Democrats can finally get ObamaCare work in the way it's supposed to. Every time a republican gets in office they take away things from Obamacare making it more expensive then Democrats have to come in try to restore the basics
