I know I keep teasing about a new Blind Guardian song... it's still on its way!
I do not speak or understand Finnish. The pronunciation in this video may offend those who do... ;)
Ensiferum comes back in the meantime anyway - one of my alltime favourites, in fact this song has possibly my favourite solo in it... and finally I can play it! The song was requested a while ago but I had a bit of practicing to do first...
Continuing on from the Wishmaster cover, I've started videoing vocal takes, because why not. No miming, they're all live takes of course, and as usual no pitch correction or any shenanigans like that either ;)
You may remember Cameron from the Iron cover - he's made a reappearance, and his fantastic bass tones can be heard in many of the choirs... in fact between the two of us we had well over 100 voices in the chorus shouts! Possibly overkill but then what even is metal, if not completely over the top?
I'm also very happy with the way the rhythm guitar tone turned out - I've been tweaking the Triaxis preset once again. The Jackson SL3MG is back, because all the guitars are recorded for the Blind Guardian song (I'm just slogging out vocals now, am in for the long haul on that one...) so I was able to tune back to E standard. The SL3 was also recorded but wasn't videoed - it helped fill out some of the clean sections, as the classical guitar wasn't really able to get the tone I was after on its own.
Lead tone I'm also fairly pleased with, though possibly a bit scratchy in the folky sections, still a bit of work to do there. Sticklers may point out that I should have picked more of the scale runs in the solo (instead of just legato-ing them) but I'm not bothered ;)
Bass tones are also improved because I changed the pickup configuration I was recording with, very happy in this respect as well.
Modified MegaReaper drumkit for drum parts, Sonatina Orchestra and Korg microX for orchestrations as usual.
Enjoy!
