"Not a shout of a hundred enemies Can make him feel fear inside him But when sunsets and the cold arrives With crushing solitude in the darkness of night" epic lyrics!
In time bleeding wounds will heal Unlike some which are too deep to see Like scars in the Nomads soul Their mending is so slow Not a shout of a hundred enemies Can make him feel fear inside him But when sunsets and the cold arrives With crushing solitude in the darkness of night He will ride across land and time To find a way through this endless night There's a storm in his heart And the fire burns his soul But the wanderer's part is to ride alone With bare hands he has taken many lives He's had a hundred women by his side From enchanted woods to the freezing North He's known at every sea and far beyond As the moon grows and the circle is complete He lies down and waits for sleep But there's always a scenery in his mind. Of all that beauty he once left behind He will ride across land and time To find a way through this endless night There's a storm in his heart And the fire burns his soul But the wanderer's part is to ride alone He will ride across land and time To find a way through this endless night There's a storm in his heart And the fire burns his soul But the wanderer's part is to ride alone
He will ride across land and time to find a way through this endless night there's a storm in his heart and the fire burns his soul but the wander's part is to ride alone My all time favorite lyrics!
Well, I'm an american living right beside NY, wishing I lived in Scandinavia. I love this music not only by the way it sounds, but by taking pride in my ancestry, even though I've never been to Finland, I'd love to visit sometime. This music gives me a great sense of pride that is hard to explain, and I think too many people don't understand that and miss the whole point of Ensiferum's music. Hail from USA!
The solitary man awaits always favour, the mercy of the creator, though, troubled in thought, he has long had to stir with his hands the frost-cold sea, traverse the paths of exile through the water ways. Fate is wholly inexorable! -from the Anglo-Saxon poem 'The Wanderer'. This song reminds me of it
"Scandinavia is a historical and cultural-linguistic region in Northern Europe characterized by a common ethno-cultural Germanic heritage and related languages. It comprises the three kingdoms of Norway, Denmark, and Sweden. Wikipedia."
Two reasons: Geography: Finland isn't a part of the Scandinavian peninsula. Language/Culture: The countries of Sweden, Denmark and Norway are traditionally Scandinavian, i.e. they speak North Germanic (Scandinavian) languages. The main language in Finland is Finnish, which is a Finnic language, which in turn belongs to the Uralic language family which is completely different language family than the one that the Germanic languages belong to (the Indo-European one).
I've listened to quite a bit of ensiferum and this one is one of my favorites. It represents a lot of strengths in their style, condensed. anyone who is first discovering this band should start with this song.
im from the caribbean and still find ensiferum to be one of the greatest ive ever heard.......keep makin music and all who dislike will perish before u.....
As with much of Ensiferum's music, I find a great deal of inspiration in this song. I credit their music with helping me through many difficult times in my life, and for leading me to chose the path of the Warrior.
Oh man those were the good old days. Sure there was a high chance of getting sick, tortured, castrated, burned alive, molested as a child or having people kill your children or pets, but it was a time of pride, strength, culture, patriotism, and comradery. Brothers and sisters in arms pillaging and fighting together, conquering new lands and getting "friendly" with the natives ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) and discovering new things and ideas.
+shanikhan00 our noses adapt to the enviroment. something new will smell good for a bit. they didint smell it all the time and to future dwellers. they will look down on us coating our skin in a layer of soap
This is not the Nordman cover, the song you are referring to is "Vandraren" (the wanderer in swedish). The songs have basically the same title but they are 2 completely different songs
When did I say that ALL songs/bands in the genres had clear voices? I meant that clearer voices are much more common in such genres and that I don't think that a 'dirty' voice is necessary for metal to be... Well... Metal. Also, it's true that little would remain, but what would remain would be far from trash. Just look at Blind Guardian or Sabaton.
Wanderer is probably my favorite song from Ensiferum. May I ask, I personally dislike screamo and the screaming parts of their music [Although I can deal with it, they're totally worth it], any other songs more like this one?
Scandinavian culture shows itself every fucking part of this song! This song makes me want to get a sword and fight in the war to the death. And Petri, you are blessed with your voice tone by Frey! You deserve to go to Valhalla. Thats all,I'm gone.
@@masitoo0 No, we had our own pantheon of gods, like Ukko/Perkele, Ahti, Ilmarinen and so on, our own mythology (which is somewhat similar) And after death Finns would go to Tuonela, the land of dead (similar to Helheim) also Finnish pagan religion probably had a heaven for warriors too (similar to Valhalla)but there is no survived proof of that, expect some little things.
Stop all the racist crap! We don't know the next person, we never will! How many times have you been surprised by someone? Great song, we are all great people.
I guess people forget that Finns are mostly a branch of mixed Siberian Mongols (aka Sami)...They are NOT Norse (nor feel like), nor Germanic; they are related to Hungarians and even with the Mongoloid tribes that crossed the Bering Straight that would later populate the whole American continent.
omg so good band and so good song recpect good job.....oooooo yeaaaaaaaaaa very nice i like ensiferum so much........yeaaaaaaaaaaa poweeeeeeeeeeeeerr brotheeersss
***** The original ethnic Finns were indeed ethnically distinct from the Norsemen... However, nowadays, and even a couple of centuries too, for more than half of Finland's population (at least) this is simply not true. It is a sentiment of cultural and linguistic distinction rekindled in mid/late 19th by the emergence of romantic nationalism throughout Europe, not some actual racial/ethic diversification that makes them "different" to their fellow Scandinavians (apart from the Samis, of course, as well as those of obvious Finnic/Esthonic heritage features). As Adolf Ivar Arwidsson put it: "Swedes we are no-longer, Russians we do not want to become, let us therefore be Finns."
I am Duncan MacLeod, born four hundred years ago in the Highlands of Scotland. I am Immortal and I am not alone. For centuries we have waited for the time of the Gathering, when the stroke of a sword and the fall of a head will release the power of the Quickening. In the end, there can be only one...
