Paquita Bernardo, (1900-1925), was the first female bandoneonist. Gifted musician, composer and director of her own orquesta, "Orquesta Paquita", in which a 16 y/o, teen-ager Osvaldo Pugliese was the pianist. Innovative and well ahead of her time. Unfortunately there are no records of her performances. She died before her 25th birthday.
