Hey Dave and Carrie; that plant on the oak tree branches; is called Resurrection Fern. Because when it rains it turns green and beautiful. Without fresh water it looks dead. Good video.

Great video. You definitely captured the essence of the campground, mosquitoes, and the alligators. It was a real pleasure to spend a couple of days with the 3 of you. Angel oak is incredible! One of my favorite bit of nature in the states. There are oaks almost as big without the tourists and just as much “energy” off the beaten path in SC. I fell in love with Charleston while traveling and bought a home the end of 2019 thinking I wanted to “settle” for the first time in my life. Covid happened and I was ready more than ever to live on the road again!!! Finally got house sold and am just starting my journey again. Found you while researching the sugar beet harvest 🙂 Thanks for content

The Angel Tree is now on my list. Wow what a tree! The Spanish Moss on the trees is really special. I, as I said don’t do alligators! The stare down music was great though. It’s kind of like dinosaur hunting isn’t it? I haven’t done a fold pack dinner since I was in Scouts. Those looked amazing. I’m so glad the issue was not the strut. Thanks for sharing you ad-Van-ture.

Those big oaks are so gorgeous! Carrie you really have a great eye for still photography. Those photos you put in were worthy of an exhibition. With everything you had to say about the mosquitos, sorry I will never go there. I'm like Dave, they love me and if there is 1 single mosquito within 200 miles, it will come for me! And I am so allergic to them. I've backpacked in the Sierras twice over 4th of July and the mosquitos were so bad they were biting your eyelids inside your Oakley cycling sunglasses. Dropping into your food before you could get into your tent to eat dinner. Then killing at least 40 inside the tent before you could go to sleep. Never again..... On a positive note, I just got the same clam tent for my summer trip up the PNW coast and into BC and Alberta. Set it up for the first time today. If you are a solo traveler, you really have to stake it down before you try to open it.
@oneadVANtureatatime

I’m so excited because I have been there, based on your previous video! I was there back in late November 22. It was cold and buggy but not THAT buggy, I could hear the bugs when you were on your walk Carrie, I also cringed when I could see that you hadn’t tucked your head net into your collar leaving a gap! It’s as lovely as you say. When I was there, there were Portajons down by the office/ park maintenance area. I have a Clam too, it really helps and it fits perfectly across my garage, side to side, like it was designed to do that.

Hello! I think people think we are crazy for camping this time of year! A few cars have slowed way down to check on us! We are also out for a drive today looking for otters….we also LOVE eagles 🦅. Are there elk in the area? We’ve seen a lot of poop… it looks to big for deer poop. I think we will be around another few days.
@tomdorsey9854
@tomdorsey9854 Год назад
i have seen lots of Eagles on the Clarion and Otters many times. I have lots of pics and videos of them. They are pretty elusive though. I thought about riding down and hopefully talking with you guys today but I figured you would be gone. There are no elk down that way but if you head to Benezette which is probably 45 minutes from where you camped, there are lots of elk. At this point most of the bulls still have their antlers but not for long. If you head to Benezette, there is a campground in the heart of the elk area. The campground does have electric and a bathroom. Just down the road from the campground is the Benezette Store and they own the campground. That is where you would register. The campground has electric, a fire ring, and picnic table under a little roof. They can also give you info on the elk. A friend of mine posted a video today on FB of about 40 elk crossing the road in Benezette. I wish I would have stopped down today, I could have told you all about the area.

Wonderful to see You Both and Roodle, and I’ve seen other “Car Campers’ using the CLAM Shelters. The electric bikes are really popular. I have family in the Charlotte NC area and there are special bicycling paths from outlying areas to downtown, near the tram tracks, where you can ride electric bikes. I’ve camped in the Sharlotte, NC area and I highly recommend HOLDEN BEACH for a wonderful place to walk and it’s ‘Dog Friendly’!

How cool I am in the same area. Also heading north along the east coast. Glad to hear your thoughts on the clam. I am thinking of getting one. I have full bug jacket. It is not the prettiest jacket, it is annoying to look through the screen but all in all, it is a must have for hikers. Probably those that like to fish as well. Mine is a large normally I wear small. It is good to have it big I think. I can pull my hands up into the sleeves and pull the waist down to my thighs. I like wearing a ball cap to keep the bug netting away from my face. I got mine in a discount bin at the end of the season. Will pick up another for spare if I see a deal again.
