Watched it the first time the other day as it was showing in cinemas for the 50th anniversary. It was absolutely worth it to see this on the big screen, such a great film!
Lalo Schifrin. One of the greatest composers. 'Enter The Dragon', 'Mission Impossible', 'Dirty Harry', 'Magnum Force', 'The Amityville Horror' and much more
I wanted to visit Hong Kong from the moment, as a kid, I watched Jim Kelly arrive and explore the city. Finally got to visit this year. Incredible trip!
Bruce Lee is the best. No matter how many times you watch Enter the Dragon, you won't get tired of it. Also, as an action movie, there is no work with such charisma in the future.
The cinematography in this film was so ahead of its time. Everything from that shot of the airplane coming into land right upto the hall of mirrors show down. Masterful. Not to mention the overall production and martial arts sequences. Timeless movie
Cinema photography as well as editing of this movie , as this friend mentioned , was never acknowledged. Perhaps every body was struck with awe of Bruce Lee.
such a musical tragedy, Lalo was able to convey by capturing the mentality of LEE, no one after Bruce Lee could present martial arts in such pathos as a dramatic hypostasis of a fighter. He gave it his all, and the point is not that he was able to overcome or not, dozens of fighters. How, all this, he presented to the viewer. This is a masterpiece, LI's charisma will remain in the memory of mankind!
Lalo Schifrin - the man who put the "cool" in 1960's and 1970's tv and film themes; Enter the Dragon, Bullitt, Dirty Harry, Mission Impossible, Mannix, Kelly's Heroes, and more.
Said it before, Ill say it here; best martial arts movie "ever". Saw it in 73' with my dad. Eight years old and impressed with the entire film, start to finish. And,tell me, isnt this like a western? Bruce is the "fast draw", facing the town bad guy at the end? Maybe?
I would never forget that moment as a kid going the theater to see Enter The Dragon when it first hit the big screen. The intro music is so mesmerizing, mysterious, and has an undercurrent of darkness looming.....the intro is etched in my mind forever
After 50 Years since movie has been made and Bruce Lee has died still the best Martial Art Movie ever previous Century the movie that NO remake could replace not even in 100 Years 😢😢😢
I always loved the symbolism that Bruce put in the introduction of Jim Kelly and Saxton’s appearance… I know he did it purposefully too. Jim Kelly - Is walking his way thru the city, has to cross the street… Has to adjust to buses in order to get across. John Saxton - Sitting in a fucking stroller as Asian man carries him on foot thru Hong Kong. Lmao I love Bruce.
Enter the Dragon is to this day...the greatest martial arts film ever made! with the exception of the big boss and way of the Dragon....imo the only contemporary film that comes close is Ip Man starring Donnie Yen From 2008
I dont think that's Bruce's real voice. If you gonna watch The Green Hornet and Longstreet, he doesn't do war cry like you hear in Enter the Dragon. And besides his HK movies weren't audio recorded during filming. So that war cry is just probably another person who dubbed Bruce Lee in movies.
BRIEF COMMENT: YES (RIP) TO ALL 3 OF THESE GREAT MARTIAL ARTS ACTORS, NEVER TO BE REPLICATED. THIS FILM HAS BEEN AVAILABLE ON DVD (SPECIAL EDITION) FOR A LONG TIME. IT'S ALSO IN THE CONGRESSIONAL FILM REGISTRY DUE TO BEING "OF HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE." SENSEI BRUCE LEE HAS BEEN COMMITTED AT LAKEVIEW CEMETARY IN SEATTLE, WA ALONG W/HIS LATE SON BRANDON LEE FOR YEARS NOW. HARD TO BELIEVE THIS FILM WAS MADE JUST A TAD OVER 50 YEARS AGO!
I hope that when I visit Hong Kong for the first time that this theme plays when I am out and about. Too bad the old Kai Tak Airport was decommissioned in 1998.
Fantastic - The music here creates an 'air/atmosphere' of excitement: too bad that Mr Lee passed away in 73' : he lives on through the countless admirers of his, certainly not forgetting his family, colleagues and friends. 👍👍👍👍👍😎😎!.
I'm sad Mr. Lee not only didn't get to really enjoy the fruits of his success, but missed so much thereafter Enter the Dragon. i'm sure he would have made and directed more killer films.
Looks like it had a LOT of charm and charisma too. I knew people who went out there and I never met anyone who really disliked it there. A lot of opportunity for a man or woman.
When I flew to HK for the first time 4 years ago, and stepped off the plane, I had this playing in my head lol. Obviously, not exactly the same experience as the airport has since moved.
Got the 4K release the other day. There are a lot of martial arts movies, but as I explained to someone earlier in the week, this is THE martial arts movie.
I love the opening of this movie the soundtrack is unforgettable and the way they shot movies back then was a art in itself it literally pulled you into the screen that was my first look at Hong Kong as a kid it was unforgettable and especially seeing minorities as a positive instead of a negative that’s what Bruce Lee and Jim Kelly did for people of color
This, The Taking of Pelham 123, Three Days of the Condor, Dirty Harry, Across 110th Street, Shaft, Super Fly... man, the 70's cinema got THE funkiest, the most a$s-kicking movie themes/music of all time.
Lalo’s music in “Enter The Dragon” is as dramatic and impactful as Bernard Hermann’s music in the iconic 1960 film “Psycho”. Both composers knew how to capture the excitement and drama of the moment. The rape scene in “Enter The Dragon” where Lee’s sister is confronted by a group of men from Han’s island is a good example of Schifrin’s musical genius.
@@TheGhostPlanet I agree. The rape scene (or attempting rape scene….Lee’s sister fights off the men who try to rape her), is a focal point in the movie. The importance of the scene, despite its seriousness, is handled like you said with classy music. The moment when the woman kills herself rather than submit to being raped, with the striking chords of Schifrin’s orchestration, is marvellous if not tragic.
