in my opinion this is the hardest past boss, but it is also the most epic one. I mean look at the immense power this ship has and you defeat it using this small vehicle
Pilot was my first past I killed. Collected the last bullet ingridient in the samw run and had some insanely powerful synergies. Literially the best run ever had til now
Fun story I wanted to share with you guys So i tried to kill the past of the pilot with a very successful run and with amazing weapons (c0m4nd0, megabuster, hemeguny, and a ducktape of m1+jolter), then I died at the dragun, but luckly I had a clone so i could get an insanely OP build for the game. After killing the dragun i went to pilots past, and then the fucking ship killed me. All that progress and pretty much 1:30 hours of gameplay lead to nothing, and I ragequitted after that. At least I got my time paradox achivement.
Is that really so bad? The past removes all your perks, so it doesn't matter how good or bad your run was and the pilot is easily the worst one. It's not like you made it to the Lich and died or anything too bad.
Admiral Vic Not really, it's just a lot of time I've invested to finally unlock the 6th chamber. Killed the 3 pasts of the rest, so i just needed that one (comapred to the pilot, the rest of them where easy (the convict being my favorite one though)).
assholemon Compared to the pilot the rest of them were easy?? I just died on the pilots past after getting it really low and it was my first time fighting a past I thought the pilots was easy... I gotta try to others then
Damn, just killed the pilot's past losing only a piece of heart, just like you, and GOD was that satisfying, after having wasted 4 keys and 180 casings for the 3rd elevator fix, and after sacrificing my lockpick to the gun powder, all in one run. My best run so far.
The worst part is that they give you an achievement for it, so until I get another Cheevo I’ll be reminded every time I start up the game that I wasted my fucking time. Cocksuckers.
>Trying to kill past with all 4 characters >Gets amazing run with pig and patriot >Kills dragun >forgets to *FUCKING GRAB THE FUCKING BULLET FOR THE FUCKING GUN AND ONLY REALIZES THAT WHEN THE FUCKING CREDITS ROLL*
I came here to try and prepare myself for the third try against the pilot's past, and I did the EXACT same thing. At least we can rest assured we are not alone.
People say this is the hardest Past fight... Yet I had like no trouble with this one. I think I'm more used to traditional shoot 'em up bullet hells rather than Gungeon's mixture of bullet hell with roguelike... And I'm fairly sure almost nobody realises you can still dodge roll during this fight.
This past hurts me the most because I had the pig item on the Dragun fight (no idea what it did at the time) and he sacrificed himself which allowed me to beat the Dragun and complete the pilots past
neither did the uploader: you can see he used a blank during the attack where the lasers close you into a small space and you can dodge roll past a solid wave of bullets
+Komodo513 You basically have to be able to read opponents to know when they're not going to shoot so you can get in close, and then burst fire them. It's good in rooms but terrible against bosses.
+Komodo513 I've used Alien Engine against slimes and the dark rooms in Chamber 4 where the little things run at you, although they're so weak any weapon does the job
@@Gavdevils56 I didn’t know they recharged so fast because I don’t look at anything beside my character durning boss fights so it took me 3 attempts till I realized it and beat it.
btw the lasers of HM absolution are dogeable but just in the end of screen cause they are moving to the center and if you do well is more easy than stay in the center of atack, Try and kill the past
Beat Dragun with pilot and thought I'd best get some tips for his past by watching this. Then realised I hadn't visited the sodding blacksmith! 5th floor was kind of killing me and I found boss first, with Vulcan cannon and Admit One generating TWO gatling gull companions beating Dragun was virtually guaranteed so thought I'd get it done before searching the floor got me killed. Nearly flawless too, cocked up dodge rolling through the bullet curtains. And then carried straight on without getting the bloody bullet that can kill the past! Aargh!
Just met this boss for the first time and got my ass handed to me so hard. So I go to RU-vid to see your video and you make it look like child's play. Gotta get this done with my next try for sure thanks to this!
Wolvenreign Just a coincidence in my eyes. I'll give you credit tho, it does kind of use that tincture of red specific to Hitman games, a corelation might be possible.
Richard Watson Yeah. I was also leaning towards "coincidence". It would be a really...weird...reference to Hitman Absolution. Like, I'm pretty sure that game and this one have nothing in common, and what do spaceship battles have to do with the Hitman franchise? If the captain looked more like a nun, maybe.
I ragequitted this game too many times, but I had to see how it ends, so I eventually used mod the gungeon for it, and now that I learned the pattern I can't wait to make a normal run
Tfw you kill the Dragon with your four Space Turtle Boys and then screw up the Past Boss because you only have 23 hours in the game. Oh and the Boss had like 1% Health.
I just died to it after having an insane pilot run. I just killed the marine's past the previous run so i thought it was gonna be ez... I feel like shit.
@@ltmentle5293 Yeah it's not really that hard, it's just that it's easy to get you off guard with some of the bullet paterns. Honestly the bullet's past seems like the hardest one for me so far. That one I'm not sure if i can beat.
It's actually really easy when you realize you have infinite ammo, no need to ever reload, a short CD Missile active, and a gigantic target to shoot at. Whenever it pulled out the laser beams I just dodged/blanked through them so I never got locked into that 2:30 phase.
This was both the last boss I fought from the main group and the only one I died on the first try and with no hits. I love R-Type and that part of my brain just clicked on.
Why is the Pilot's past so hard? With a few upgrades and less health to whittle down, it would be a lot more doable. The pasts are obviously not supposed to be hard. All you've got is starting weapon(s) and 3 hearts. It's there for the story and you're meant to beat it. And I did just that for the other three, first time. All you need are the skills you've acquired getting there. But for the pilot, you've got way too many things to concentrate on. Small enemy ships and big lasers as well as the normal bullets. I didn't even know about the missile you've got until my 2nd go, but even when you do use it, its painfully slow. Plus I was trying to dodge the big lasers instead of staying in the middle because I didn't know what they did yet. None of the other pasts require you to learn it before beating it. Going for my fifth attempt now.
"Why is the Pilot's past so hard?" One thing thats cool about running a channel like this is that I see a lot of comments and while most seem to agree the pilot is the hardest, I have seen people disagree with that too. While I'm not going to say who's right or wrong, I do think getting certain formations is easier than other formations, so if you never get the dodge roll one, it probably seems like a stupidly easy fight. "But for the pilot, you've got way too many things to concentrate on. Small enemy ships and big lasers as well as the normal bullets." While I get where you're coming from, I get the impression you don't quite understand the point. All the endings are also references, with this one referencing classic bullet hell games like Gradius. The reason it's difficult is because it's so radically different from the rest of the game and takes a lot of mechanics from that genre to make the reference work. Naturally I see where you're coming from, but I still appreciate this ending for what it is.
now that i think about it, what happens when some one uses the gun that kills the past? do they possess their past self and then go back to the present? or do they become their past self and stay in the past?
+Admiral Vic From what i've heard, the two special characters can't give parts of the bullet to the blacksmith, and she wont give them the bullet. I'd assume that it's the same for the co-op character.
I watched this video right before I fought this for my 5th time and won. (Mainly because of his strategy of blanking the doge roll attack and I didn't know you could kill the little ships)
I beated this boss at first try, but it was a bit weird. I lost two and a half hearts before the middle of the boss health bar. And i kept that half heart until the end. I still cant believe I did that.
Just faced it for the first time and died. Too much stuff to learn at once xD I had no idea you have those missiles and thought that those ships he spawns would leave as soon as they shoot, instead of standing there for 300 hours.
I finished it. I reached the end. In the Forge, 7 Full hearts and one armor with M16. Dragun got rekt, in my first try. *BUT* The damn Bullet... I didn't killed Pilot's past. Just 1 hour run in the trash. Now, i gotta take the items to the blacksmith, i Just don't know how to get there again. My run was pure luck, 3 items that give hearts, M16 saved my ass many times, i even got Kill Pillars Flawless'd. But ok... One day i'll kill Pilot's past.
Sgt. Crow FYI you only need to get the items once, then you get infinite Past Bullets. But yeah you need to buy the primer and pray until you get a good run
I cannot beat this boss for the life of me, mostly because my Switch controller keeps on aiming down for no reason. If I don’t beat it within my next two tries, I’m done with this game
Dude never played starfox 64, he clearly forgot how to "Do a Barrel Roll" that hole fight... Even after 5 floors of doing it. Didn't forget those missiles though! 😂
When the ship did the 2 lazer attack I would just dodge through it , so it would cancel the attack , so I never got to experience the lazer trapped bullet pattern attack
Maaan this game... it was 12% left on the absolution and the game crashed on me. I restarted it and it was fine, just had to redo the past, until it started freezing again and I died. This is sad ;-; just sad.
Most awesome past Goes all the way back to 2D bullet hell The bad part is... This is hard to get too Because the pilot is the hardest character to play
I kid you not, I died the first time fighting this boss, restarted it, I kid u not half a heart almost died and killed him ima post it on my channel if u want to see it
I kill the dragun 3 times a day and have beat the bullets, convicts and hunters past the marines past is the one I'm working on and it's cause of the screen shake when firing the hegemony rifle.
what would happen if you took the cultist in to the pilot's past for the marine hunter convict robot and bullet the cultist is there on the ground but the pilot's past is in SPACE so would the cultist float around or stand on the pilot's ship?
Funny Story, when I first faced this boss I didn't realize I could dodge roll until I was about to die. I thought this fight was impossible until that moment. Since when can space ships dodge roll?
Just did this boss first try HOLY SHIT was it so close in some spaces but thank god you can dodge roll in it i wouldve lost my mind had i not been able too and this is my second one after hunter who is literally just the bird guy but slightly harder
I died to the pilots past 5 times now... I now see it is because i always try to dodge through the lasers, ending up at the top of the screen, making it conciderably harder. Next time its gonna get done, so much time waste though...
I failed my first attempt, then I had another go at it. Once I defeated dragun I watched this vid to get used to the enemies attack pattern... Then when I shot my past, I realized I forgot the bullet.... Smh...
This guy did a great job. But for those who are here for tips, know that you can dodge roll in this fight LOL. Died my first time because i didnt roll during the beam phase
