Entering and Exiting the Depths With a Rail Hoverbike in Tears of the Kingdom

I was able to do this with my regular rail hoverbike but the extra handling from having the rail on the back makes it much easier. This is an example build you can use for general navigation AND toggling in and out of the Depths as opposed to something that just specialises in that 1 task. You can use gimbals to do the job with more style (such as ones I've shown before) but this is a simpler solution.

I have version 1.2.1 of the game. Just earlier today, I tried replicating your build (with a dragon scale, too) and ascending up two different chasms. When I reached a certain height, the entire build's parts spontaneously self-destructed except for the control stick, and the entire game appeared to soft-lock for several seconds, before unlocking and causing Link to fall. Of course I was also using a non-replicated (non-green) rail in my build, because I was curious if I could use this hoverbike to bring a rail out of the Depths. Why? Because I noticed in your previous videos that you have saved autobuild of a rail glued to a water globule, and the water globule automatically self-destructs, leaving only the one replicated rail. The problem is that, in my game, if I have a lone rail, attach a water globule, and wait for the water globule to self-destrust, the replicated rail also spontaneously self-destructs. I used to be able to detach replicated rails and have them not automatically despawn, but the game doesn't let me do that anymore.

On new versions you'll want to attach something like an apple to the rail for autobuild. Attach the autobuild to your build then you can get rid of the apple. That lock bug sounds weird though, I don't remember anything about that, nor have I encountered it.

@@KingX Are you playing an older version? And yes, the chasm ascent issue can be a problem. Before I refined my Light Dragon crown designs, I tested various crown or spike-saddle designs for all the dragons. Of course, Dinraal, Farosh and Naydra both ascend and descend chasms, spending parts of their flight paths in the Depths. My biggest concern *used* to be a build falling off their backs during ascend or descent. But at some point, builds going up-chasm started...self-destructing partway up anyway. I vaguely suspect this may have something to do with the patch they released to fix the Tobio's Hollow Chasm duplication exploit, though it may not be related to that at all. I haven't yet tested if this applies to hot air balloons, which are one of the only realistic means most players may have of using a build to ascend chasms, as most any other up-chasm travel is realistically only done with fast travel teleportation. But it's not really worth building a dragon carriage for Dinraal, Farosh or Naydra if it can't ascend chasms *with* the dragon.

I'm on 1.1.1. I used to just ride the dragons as it's quite possible to stay on board during ascents/descents.

@@KingX Well, my goal was to make dragon-riding comfortable, so you can ride them with the controls in neutral at any pitch angle indefinitely without falling off, so you could actually walk away if you wanted to, or just sit and chill comfortably. That's been easy for the Light Dragon who never traverses chasms, as I designed a sturdy brace that can fit securely on its antlers, and the travel cabin is sheltered from cold, lightning and aerocuda aggro, with lattice windows from the Lightning Pyramid so you can still see the outside and more easily than through other lattices you found scattered around Hyrule. With the other dragons I'd already been struggling even just finding a secure bracing position, as I could never successfully design something that could be autobuilt around their horns or chin, and you can only be so secure around one of their back spikes before they fly vertically, and with spike mounts any strap around the dragon's belly side tends to snap off over time. But suddenly vanishing builds during chasm ascent was really the last straw for me. I suspect the developers just *really* wanted to make sure that chasm duplication exploit was good and dead in any location.

That sounds messy. Creating the disability to leave the Depths just to interfere with duplication in a single player game is disgraceful, and all it did was make duplication trickier, not impossible.
