I was raised as a Greek orthodox. I'm 32, and the past month I was looking for the truth of the word through spirityality from different people online! I was so wrong; I forgot Jesus and God, and I had such a terrible experience that I'm looking for a priest to say it and explain to me what it was! I was full of pride and greed, thinking that I could achieve anything by myself through manifestation and other techniques. I was so ignorant that I allowed something dark to enter my mind! But God loved us so much that he came and saved me! Since then, I say proudly that I am an orthodox Christian reading the Bible and try to come as close as I can to Jesus Christ and God! Forgive me, the sinner; now I know how blind and arrogant I was! If you can pray for me, Anastasios is my name! Thank you, Father, for everything. God bless you!

Why can't you JUST follow Jesus? Why is everything a label? A sect? A denomination? A title? Who cares about Orthodox, Catholic, Baptist...Why can't we all just be Christians..as followers of Christ? I get so exhausted with people and their silly little labels they give themselves..Jesus doesn't care what label man gives each other. It's not important. At the end, when we stand before Jesus, he isnt going to mention your orthodoxy, except that it was a waste of time
Hello! I have a very similar story to yours. I also was captured by this online trend of eastern spirituality and manifestation techniques. I started feeling very ill eventhough doctors said i was fine and felt constant evil presence in my life. I could not sleep and even experienced sleep paralysis. I started reading the bible and went back to church. It's been a year since then and i am now back to normal. Of course i got rid of every material , book and object related to manifestation or eastern religion from my house and life. I'm also christian orthodox but from Romania by the way.
Fr. Spyridon, please pray for me, that i will no longer be lazy in pleasing Christ, but overcome temptations of laziness. Glory to God for all things. ☦️🙏🏼❤️
So many people say "live every day as if it were your last" You saying "pray as if it would be our last prayer before we enter eternity and face Gods judgement" is so beautiful and important. I will try to adapt that into my life from now on.

Father, I don't know if you know this but many people say this including me. Your videos always dissect the current problems I'm going through and explain to me how to fix my ways. Shortly before I watched this video I prayed to God and admitted to Him that I feel absence and that I feel as if my prayer isn't true as if it isn't from the heart but as if I'm just saying words to calm myself down. I asked Him to show me what I must do and now I see this, truly you must know this. I thank God for you and I thank God for showing me what He needed to show me through you.

All I have been doing by adopting modern standards is drift further away from Christ. I can feel it in my heart. I choose to adopt these teachings that you preach as that is when I feel closest to Christ despite societal norms.
Thank you for the perspective on the application of idolatry. This age works at compelling us to remain in our emotions 24/7. Music, media, games, sports, full-contact religions; all getting our attention off God and dosing micro-hits of dopamine to stay addicted. Too bad "Tune Out and Tune In" was co-opted already. Very applicable today.

This is really a classic! Thanks & Father bless. We also benefit by recalling that God chastises those he loves, from Hebrews 12:6. Also, a way to begin to love God is to have some sense of basic reverence including attentiveness as you stated. Another aspect of prayer is that through hesychia and nepsis it can transcend conditioned adventitious states of cause & effect leading to lust or hate & to attain a unconditioned state of grace where the union of unconditional devotion to God and love for all is possible.
This message is so comforting to me, because for a long time, I have felt as though my prayers and my suffering has been for nothing. But instead, they are for EVERYTHING, the Lord Jesus CHRIST!! ☦️
Beautifully spoken Homily Father Spyridon. With me it's a lack of Discipline. St Paisios said if your not making Spiritual Progress know that you lack Willpower. Take it by force of Will. This lack of Will shows up when the Devil sneaks up with another Idol. Resolve melts away when the Devil does this ,and we lack Discipline. To cling to the Cross is the only way to mortify these Idols. God Bless you for all you do Father Spyridon.

As someone who grew up in a loud, dancing, running around kinda church... he really nailed that whole bit about people's feelings and it being an idol. Rarely did I feel God's presence when all of that was taking place.

there are times when i think, 'maybe just leave those out' when i come to the forgiveness words of the Lord's Prayer. i do not cultivate the prayer life needed to fight well the battles i face. as i age, it might behoove me to increase my effort in this regard, but the deceiver encourages me to notice and consider so many distractions. Lord, grant me the Spirit of Reflection that i might ever better appreciate You, Your love for me, and my ability through You to respond to that Love.
Hi father I’ve been crucified for thirty years love god and can’t wait to be with him every day and night I’m in love with god I see the world differently I’ve seen the way of the world I’m loved by all my friends and family but never felt part of the world I forgive easily sometimes I’ve felt like heaven on earth come closer to god and he will come closer to you I think of god all the time and in every thing I think and do please pray that I will be in his paradise soon
