That whole blood transfusion monologue is so beautiful and impactful. It really does sum up how stupid prejudice outlooks can be since we are really all the same on the inside. Oda is the man.
It’s so on point. It makes me think of our world. Look at it . racism, hate xenophobia are rising everywhere. People vote for it. People never learn. Never
In Japan, there is a fairy tale about a character named Urashima Taro. The man goes to a castle at the bottom of the sea and receives a box as a souvenir on his way home. When he returns to the surface and opens the box, the man ages many years. The story goes something like this. The box is called "Tamatebako," which is the name of the box that contained the medicine that Hodie stole.
I never thought about this but Oda kinda stresses the value of the treasure that they get. The treasure handles alot of the stuff that they need when they go to islands. Food, medicine and equipment, ship repairs so Nami making sure they have the treasure is a gag but relevant to them.
My favorite part of each arc is the after fight part The banquet, their happiness, the information drop and all the new questions it makes Everything is just perfect
Just like how Wakanda Forever is features a story based on Haitian legends of the under water world of Mermaids and sea people, Fishman Island is lowkey a homage to the Japanese legend of the underwater kingdom (which is similar to the African and Caribbean legends of the same thing!) and the dangerous Tamate Box.
Dr Charles Drew was an African American who, while not inventing blood transfusions, pioneered and expanded upon it in many important ways. He was in a car accident and was sent to a white hospital where he received a blood transfusion. He died anyways but a myth was born that many believed that he died because he was denied a blood transfusion due to racism. I have no doubt this was Oda's inspiration.
The soundtrack got me too, my first time. Especially when they pick just the right moment to bring back classic opening themes for the series too. (And I read this in the manga first too I'm pretty sure, haha.)
I try not too say this too much cuz it'd be every episode but your edits are elite. You have such a massive wealth of places to pull from. If you ever needed extra money I bet a million channels would want you to edit for them. They're just so damn good.
I always cry at the good moments in OP. Oda's got us all by the heartstrings. One moment we're laughing our heads off, the next we're pissed beyond measure, and then sadness... Sometimes for the situation of another, or for the melancholy situation we find ourselves in. By the time Oda drags us back to happy, we're crying tears of joy, and that is why One Piece is the best.
How did I watch this anime twice and never noticed PUDDING on FISHMAN ISLAND??? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . also all the foreshadow to the tea party...
@@dimitripatronas2409 yeah time and heights are so inconsistent that you mine as well just ignore the canon, but even though dress rosa is a drag, in oda's defence there was so much shit going on at the same time that made it look like it took 10x longer seeing it in sequence lol
@@rimoldi98 Or the fact that the crew was together for 2 months more or less until the Sabaody incident. That's stupid. Brook was like a week with them, that's worse. My head canon is, they have been traveling together for much longer regardless of what Oda is saying, we don't have to access everything he says.
"If you hurt someone or if someone hurts you the same red blood will be shed" I truly love this scene The whole speech, the sound, everything about it gets me every time🥲
That's it, that's why I don't often rewatch this arc, it does hit a little too close to home. Said it before, I'll say it again. It hits different when you have examples in your own life.
So, just to give an idea of how powerful Big Mom is, and a youtuber going through the manga recently brought this up, she is a mother that is relevant to the plot of One Piece, that is still alive. Bellmere? Dead. Portugas D. Rouge? Dead. Usopp's mother? Dead. Vivi's mother? Dead. Big MOM? Not only alive and kicking, but has enough power to beat an in-universe trope!
Nami really was upset over her money money money! Welcome officially to the New World! Hody & Crew got their karma and we got the end of the arc banquet. There were so many good meme edits that I enjoyed. Note: While not official (as far as I know) other people do get the Tina Turner vibe. It also sounds like she sings "Dance, dance, dancing on the land" so maybe? (I'd like to think so). Thanks for the video!
Shark Daddy saving Luffy's life yet again. Those better not be red flags, because his ass needs to be on the crew *yesterday.* Big Mom is in the same league as Whitebeard. At least, she holds the same title that he did. And remember what it took to bring an old, "fragile and sickly" Whitebeard down. Now Luffy is saying he's going to kick someone like *that's* ass all over the New World? Our rubber monkey has his work cut out for him.
Welcome to the new world. I hope you travels will be pleasent and you choose to come back... Safe travels as you enbark on your new adventure. (Monotone voice cuts off.) 😂
My favorite narration, the blood transfer. Fun fact, Nami can compete to Zoro in drinking. I think he was second to Zoro in that thing. It was from SBS, if I am not mistaken. Hahaha.
I remember when I had first seen this when it had first come out. I was so pissed at the fact that none of the fishmen other than Jimbei had stepped up to offer their blood for Luffy. Though having seen more of the world, I can understand better how people can hold unto senseless disdain or hatred to the point where they can't even exclaim even the simplest of gratitude. Luffy had risked his life for them and none of them would risk theirs for his. I saw it as the current generation of fishmen being a lost cause, which looking back at it further cements the hope on the new generation and the need to bury the hatchet as early as we can so to better the future.
The fish men yearn for the sun. Joyboy made a promise to a previous mermaid princess. Sharley predicted Luffy would destroy Fishman Island, but he hasn’t. The Noah is an Ark meant to be pulled by seakings and kept by the Fishmen in relation to Joyboy’s Promise. Those are several things you have in your back pocket together…and And the Holy Land of Marie Joise is directly above Fishman Island. On the Red Line Continent bisecting the world.
I just noticed there's the certain character we already seen how she actually looks before we get to meet her and I never realized it till now it was this early on we seen her full face before the big reveal just like dragon being in the intro without us knowing who he is
Bink's Sake tells you everything about Joy Boy and the void century you need to know, but it will only become crystal clear in about 500 more episodes.
All the characters and every other translation: "Big Mom" The subs: "Big Mam" I don't recall if it's said in the anime or just an implication but All the other island whales have scars on their front because they heard Laboon's cries and were trying to break down the red line from the other side.
Hearing "We Are" triggers all the emotions. Can't be helped. Oh, yeah, Binks' Sake does it too. These silly little drawings have become very real, haven't they? That's the power of good storytelling.
- Money, money, money! And we did it people!! We made it to The New World!! What a little journey, we learned some things, the ancient weapon, some promise with that Joy Boy guy, Aokiji vs Akainu and about Big Mam (that edit... love it!!). Let's what this new sea has to offer!!
it had some great and powerful moments but this is easily my least favorite post-timeskip one piece arc, so I hope you look forward to things getting (even) better!
"Munny Munny Munny!" i get what you mean by draining, still the pacing was also barf, let's be honest with ourselves. in any case Jinbei will be joining us like he said, he just gotta disband from the Big Mom Pirates as he also said, then he will be free to join us, not an unreasonable request by any means. also, if you really want to see Brook unhinged, Ian Sinclair does some wild work in the DUB, i'll have to link you some compilations when you're all caught up.
Some fun small non-spoiler details!!! :D 0:40 This Seaking here is the same Seaking you see in the very first Opening of One Piece. Same for the Seaking on the left at 0:54 :D :D :D 27:11 Till this day we still don't know who gave Smoker that scar!!! His new looks is cool as heck tough, but guess Oda really likes people giving scars in the time-skip huh? XD
I am a crybaby.. guess I have a gang now👍🏻 I shed some tears then someone said to me "it's just One Piece.." I reply "then why don't you watch it!" In my thoughts, I kinda think that I am exaggerated but now it seems like I'm not wrong at all🤟🏻 great reaction again💜
