The sheer anxiety I feel at watching Julia stare at the shortcut to the lamp, and instead turning around and heading to the boss fight with 40k blechoes. Also Valtr's outfit (guy at the shortcut with a bucket on his head) is wearing an old school poilce outfit that harkens to victorianesque police uniforms, hence the lantern and whistle too.
I'm going to keep a running league table for Bloodborne bosses based on the number of Lem kills they managed (spoilers below) 1. Shadows of Yharnam (6 kills) 2. Father Gascoigne (4 kills) 3. Blood Starved Beast (3 kills) 4. Vicar Amelia (2 kills) 5= Cleric Beast (0 kills) 5= Witch of Hemwick (0 kills) Overall Bloodborne bosses have killed Lem 15 times with an average of 2.5 kills per boss Special shoutout to Yurie from this episode who would be top of the leaderboard with 7 Lem kills if she was a boss rather than a hostile NPC (she did have the massive advantage of facing a blood-vial-less Lem but still a good performance)

Julia keeps saying she feels bad for boring the audience with the longer bossfights but they're literally the ones that have me the most enraptured. i can't look away from the screen because I'm so tense and invested in the fight. and when i'm watching live i see that chat slows down during these fights and i'm willing to bet that it's cause everyone else is also too laser-focused on the fight to be cracking jokes and riffing. tl;dr: the long, tense bossfights are some of the best parts of these streams! which is saying a lot because SSS streams are super fun all-around to begin with :D

if you have the dlc, before the ludwig fight there is a bloody zombie clinging to a gate, he has a 100% drop rate of 5 blood vials. Also there is a lamp close by to farm him till you have enough blood vials. Hope this helps fellow hunter.

Julia has slid off the edge into snake land's lake, and it was an understandable slip, as that slope didn't look too steep to step, and she's now presumably making her runback and I'm wondering if she's going to demonstrate to Jacob that her death was unfair by dying there again. It's exciting to imagine what's coming!
I do not currently have immediate access to all my toddler cousins or any young kids in general so i really enjoy hearing all of the niece and nefew hijinks. Adorable and just very refreshing
Julia did CRAZY good for her first try against the Yarnham Shadows… that was TENSE, Jacob got it absolutely right. My first few tries against this boss was just immediate death.
It's very funny to me that julia always brings up how she thinks people will get impatient with her, so she gets impatient with herself, on certain boss fights. Like, she has no problem stopping everything to pull out the monocular and examine brick textures, but she's afraid viewers will find the boss fights boring?? We're here for all of it, that's why we watch
I went to look it up as soon as Jacob mentioned it - Willow Smith's new song with the 7/4 time is called "symptom of life" and the official music video I watched did not have subtitles at all, so I have NO CLUE what the lyrics are or mean or nuthin :) Edit - I paused this VOD to go look it up, so I did not know that he mentions the name like 10 seconds later (flip emoji) That's what I get for bein impatient!

Hearing Julia talk about being in uni and coming to terms with being a person who doesn't like partying and heavy drinking is really reassuring to me as someone in university who has been dealing with the same feelings of wanting to spend time with friends but not enjoying partying despite being invited along, and it makes me feel way less alone. Side note: at 1:58:50 Yuri put you on ice.

Like i don't mind if its the same fight over and over, i'm sitting here knitting and having the time of my life! If i can watch them play jump jump jump for like an hour straight, ill be ok with one boss fight for like twenty minutes hahaha
The “don’t get tilted” discourse is so cool to me, because Ive largely played video games on my own my whole life, and haven’t really seen others play it before tuning into y’alls streams. I came for the vibes and not only have learned all kinds of different approaches to strategy, but also have always been so impressed with how chill y’all approach gaming. And it’s cool learning that it’s something you all have seen elsewhere and also tried to emulate. I know the internet is full of gross and bad things, but it’s also cool to see when there’s a chain of people seeing behaviour they like and adopting it to make their lives a little better.
Just wanted to say the vods have been an absolutely life-saver. I have funky joints, and watching these vods when I'm doing exercises a) motivates me to actually do them, and b) keeps me from getting bored, so big thank you so Jacob and Julia for the streams and for Kaz for the editing and uploading them
Watching Julia shake her head back and forth to make her little hair-thingy wiggle is the best thing, and I'm kinda jealous. I usually only get to do that when I didn't brush it and have a little springy bit.
I was SO prepared to be irrationally angry at Julia if she'd somehow beaten that 3v1 battle on her first try. She did so good, I would have gotten frustrated and just killed myself immediately to start over the fight after the first minute of being blasted by those damn fireballs lol
I hope Julia goes out and fight that weird damn centipede. the first time I ever heard of bloodborne is when I randomly tuned into Zisteau streaming it, and that centipede was on screen, getting smashed with a kirkhammer. good memories.
When I watch let's plays it's usually for the commentary / bits, but Julia's boss battles always have me on the edge of my seat. It makes me wish I could play this game
I have to say, as a college student when Blood Sugar Sex Magik came out, RHC was exciting and cool, and then very quickly they kind of lost that and became tiresome. Give It Away is still good, though.

Clara sounds so much like me when I was younger, and I mean yeah I’ve been of higher intelligence than my peers most of my life but they need to watch for mental illness and give her support. The rate of mental illness is bimodal increasing with lower and higher intelligence from average.
Valtr is dressed in what the game calls "Constable's Garb." The description says "Once upon a time a troupe of foreign constables chased a beast all the way to Yahrnam, and this is what they wore. The constables became victims of the beast, except for one survivor, who in turn devoured the creature whole, all by himself." So he is dressed as a cop from somewhere outside Yharnam and lost all of his coworkers to a beast. League confederates have no relation to American Confederates, of course, and I would also note that Confederate soldiers wore gray and Union soldiers wore blue. Confederate, as a normal noun, just means people who work together for a specific goal, usually in politics or as accomplices in crime. League confederates are united in expunging "vermin" from humanity, and when you kill human characters (hunters) they will leave behind centipedes made of blood. I've personally always interpreted vermin to be a metaphor for vices, sin, and evil.
