I enjoyed that video thanks 🙂, just one point, Ofcom are relatively new (2006ish I think) towards CB and Amateur Radio, it was the RA and previously the Post Office who policed the hobby in the era you mention .I do like that Superstar microphone

President actually started the FM petition and cobra joined when they found out….today cobra is just a consumer name their cb radios are made by the cheapest bidder with someone else’s internal components…..the 19 mini is just an anytone rig with cobra stickers on it…..in my opinion side by side the president “fcc” models are in a class of their own above cobra….while a solid old 148 is still seen as a great rig the new McKinley gives it a run for its money and its modern features and technology make it a no brainer for anyone looking for a good rig…..don’t get me wrong I still have my 148s and still use them but the presidents are wonderful
@@blainehartley9157 President radios do seem to be better made, they look nicer and do perform but also come at a cost, the latest President Washington just released here in the UK (June 24) is retailing around £350, thats around 400 US dollars. But it appears to be a good radio. CB is very much alive here in the UK with many choosing to buy President radios over other brands. I love my Cobra 148, i also have a President Adams, 1978. @@EnthusiastSteveM6WVV yes some of the export versions are on the high side but I’ve found that here in the states with the standard fcc models (Walker McKinley etc) that by the time you buy a cobra 29 and get it to where a president is straight out of the box you’ll have just as much maybe more invested in the cobra as you would the president equivalent….and the president will last longer as well as perform better…..as long as you do your part with the antenna if not none of them will be better than a 2 watt handie talkie…..I would love to get my hands on a new Washington but at $400+ usd I’ll stick with what I’ve got for the time being….my Lincoln 2+ and Richard have been fine radios so far
I'm all for a power microphone, but with the 6900 & 9900 I couldn't and still can't get a power microphone to work well & not distorted yet. On Fm its fine, can chat 50m local(ish) & Dx across Europe, bit on Ssb I change back to the standard M9 Microphone.
