This radio and stock mic has the best stock sound I've ever heard. I have a local that uses it and he sounds wonderful. This comparison to my ears sounds best with the Kpo mic at the lower volume. I think the Kpo mic SEEMS to amplify the puff sounds of the voice more and more the gain is raised. This is Just what I hear, others may not. Good comparison video sir 👍.
The KPO Mic arrived today. This also makes a very nice and clear modulation on the President Richard. It's a pity that there are no buttons for up and down. Otherwise highly recommended.
The K-PO really sounded great and it didn't even distort at a 100% though you can hear every gasp of air while talking at that level. Anyway, it will be very seldom one will use it at that high level so below that is still a clean strong audio. Thanks for sharing.
I have the McKinley and the K-PO with echo. I found that to get the same level of volume to the stock McKinley mic the K-PO is set at %50. However it picks up a lot of road noise when driving. Works great when static!!!!
Love the way you split it at the end of the video. Never seen anyone do that before. Makes for a great comparison. I'm wondering if it makes that big of a difference on AM? Thanks for the review.
Hi David. It's easy. You need to hold the F key while transmitting and adjust it with the menu knob. I wonder if you have the EU version. I think the US version is different. Here is the user manual link (see page 45). rigreference.com/documents/rr-5ed2c962963445.69814184
kpo is a little tinnier as it is only a 6K mic these do not have the high end frequency response read the back of the package any good mic will do at least 15k
@@W4BTK Yes, Exactly I sweep lots of radios and it is sad some like the bearcat and Lincoln plus cut off at less then 1700 while others sweep off at over 10K
Right, I think the stock will do well locally while the K-PO might do a little better DXing specially in non-optimal conditions due to the higher voice frequency range / pitch. Great observation. Thanks Joe. 73!
