I really appreciate how you showed how much time it takes to get a house to where you really want it, especially an older home. It's better for financial and mental health to take your time with renovating a home, even if we feel so much pressure to make everything Instagram ready as fast as possible. Thank you so much for that reminder and being so real!

I love your living room and kitchen so much!!!!!! And the sunroom!!! Your home is beautiful!!! PS - please let Josh keep his ice machine where it is. It is easy access there and it is his house, too. The garage isn't a good spot because that gets too hot and it is not good to have a freezer or ice maker in a hot environment.

This was fun! I love that you kept the built-ins, the natural wood paneling in the sunporch and the BLUE TOILET, lol. I’d keep that toilet as long as possible because of the soothing color and it’s unique-ness factor 😁. Your kitchen looks amazing too along with all the other changes. I think you’re very smart for,not committing to anything for the kid’s rooms or the basement. Especially the basement. That space has many many many changes in it’s future, lol. I had to laugh at the prospect of rollerblading down there because why not? I’ll be looking forward to next year’s comparison ;). Thanks for sharing!

This year, we did so many projects to our house (thank you Covid). Ripped out all of the carpet and put in new laminate flooring. Double vanity in the bathroom, new paint throughout the house. Just finished my kitchen, I replaced the cabinet doors and drawer fronts, new hardware and new countertops. My house is now exactly how I want it, and I love being home!

Great advice (to live in a house before you change...) Your living room looks WONDERFUL! We tore out the carpet in the basement so the kids could rollerblade. Now they are older and don't rollerblade anymore, (it has more to do with not spending a fortune on rollerblades then on them not wanting to) so we could put something down again. It was a great thing and they got energy out on the yucky winter days. Our carpet was a burnt orange color, so it was okay that it went bye bye. I remember chuckling over the blue toilet (because we had one, too) but alas, we've got a new white one when we did a freshen up on our main bathroom.

Renovating and remodeling takes time! My husband and I bought our home 4 years ago. We completely gutted it and added on. omg that sun porch is a dream!! i love the natural wood as well and OMG those end tables in your daughters room, i want that for my room lol! it would be cute if you had another daughter and they shared that big room. You could have matching bed frames and just similar colors but unique to them so it's not exactly the same. those beds fit so well in that intent in the wall between the bump out.

Love the blue toilet. Glad you kept it. Sure would put a smile on the faces of those entering that room. And the decor in there fits well with it. You've done an amazing amount of work on your home in 1 year, especially for the low costings that you stated. It all takes time. Looking forward to the 2 year transformation video. :: Your next project should be the master suite. Do the bathroom/closet transformation first, but make sure you also finish the bedroom. You've done the kitchen, where you spend much of your day. Now do your nighttime space, before tackling anything else. You need a relaxing beautiful space to rest in.

You and Josh have a BEAUTIFUL HOME! You have made great improvements already! Now is the time to enjoy each other and your beautiful children. Just choose one area per year to work on and don’t ever choose a spotless home over memories you could be making when you were just picking up what you call a mess....I did not see a mess anywhere. Some clutter shows the kids are having fun and learning. God gave you a daughter first and she is learning your good housekeeping skills. She will be a great little helper. (I’ll bet she is already)! Your son will be handing tools to his daddy during the project processes! I’m so glad you didn’t paint that gorgeous sun room! Nor the fireplace! I love the beautiful white buildings on each side of the fireplace! Just what was needed there! Your apartment is a small goldmine! A renter is the way to go with that. You have and ARE making wise decisions. Slow and steady wins the race!

Just found your channel so not sure if this is a recent video. My recommendation is to tackle your master bedroom and bathroom. Your marriage is the foundation of your family so putting yourself next would be a good choice in my opinion. Not sure what season it is so that could be a winter project and if it is spring/early summer doing the patio so you can use it in a more functional way might be the wisest choice. My third focus would be to put in new backsplash in the kitchen .... seems like an easy fix to bring your kitchen up a notch. Enjoy your hardworking and practical attitude, so your decisions will be the best for your family and budget. Love that you do not feel like you ‘need’ everything at once like some young parents.

Watching this was fun! I noticed one of the bathrooms you removed the shower doors but not the frame on the tub. Loved this! Our house exchanged (UK term?) 16th July last year and we moved in 6th August last year. It’s a small house, not 100% dated but not complete to taste. There were a couple things that needed doing before moving in, the rest we are slowly working out way through. The bits that aren’t completely my taste I’ve still worked on making them feel as homely as possibly. As much as I love aesthetics the feeling of home is what’s most important to me🥰 have been in a bit of a lull with lockdown, but feeling inspired now!

Love what you’ve done with the place so far! I think I’d have to say that the sunroom would be my favorite part of the whole house and if we ever built a house that I would definitely want a sun room! With lots and lots of plants😀

I love everything you have done! I almost cried though when you said you were going to rip out the built-ins LOL. I had those in my old house and I miss them so much. Now I have two huge stone fireplaces. One upstairs and one downstairs and absolutely love them. We bought a house similar to yours and a somewhat a fixer-upper, but only 3000 ft. It took me an entire year to paint 90% of the house by myself. I got rid of all my wood trim and it is now white but I will confess some of the closet doors on the inside were never painted. It’s been 10 years now and if I ever sell that is one project that will have to get done! My house was also done on a budget with lots of yard sale finds. Hugs
