You would have to have some sort of shame in order to feel uncomfortable with living in a place rent free. Some people just dgaf and will do whatever they can to avoid responsibility

He legally could not rent to her. So they both agreed to drop the cases. She is moving out, and she is no longer suing him. She is just going to pay thr water bill.
A slumlord's multiple property issues and a severely delinquent tenant. Call it a wicked life experience and move on. This tenant doesn't plan to pay the rent, nor does it sound like she's planning to move any time soon. These grown folks are beyond redemption at this point.

I'm hoping I misunderstood something but let me get this right. The tenant owes $19,000 and back rent, then landlord agrees to waive the back rent to get possession, the tenant gets more of the escrow than the landlord does, and the tenant was planning on suing the landlord for damages. Do I have all that correct?
So she won’t let him in to make the repairs yet when the judge asks what day can he come and make the repairs she says “he can come whenever he wants”. You can’t make this shit up

She took advantage of a weak property situation with the landlord. Property damage claims, rent disputes and other claims were weak links in a chain of events towards the judgment. This entire case was a mess.
It's crazy.. She might play the same non-payment of rent, for one reason or another, games at her next living arrangement. In fact, you can count on it.

He was screwed from the get go because the Landlord let the COC expire and therefore couldn’t legally collect rent. He should have told his client and maybe not looked like a fool.

Right! It's only right for the Judge to withhold escrow for the water bill. She's greedy, unthinking and insane. She rode this property owner, though he seemed unfortunately incompetent, far longer than necessary to nearly $20k. She took advantage of this guy.

She’s paying her rent to escrow, until the slumlord fixes the issues. He’s just not getting the money because legally he shouldn’t be charging rent at this point.

It’s a Certificate of Compliance that many local governments have that assure the rental property is safe and up to code. Once the landlord let it lapse he could no longer charge for rent. The POS tenant took advantage of it and the owner had to capitulate to the tenants motion she didn’t owe rent. It’s sad. But once that expired the owner had no case and the attorney for some unknown reason tried to disregard that
She played the system, shes a scamer imo. Shes wrong, but that last part where she had him to specify say she gets the escrow back was smart. Spell it out in plain language so folks aren't assuming and acting confused later. I agree with Judge Simpson "watch them, thats gonna blow up." I feel bad that the landlord didnt get any $ besides the water bill.
