I see some people here defending Poly, they are missing the entire point while doing so though. The point isn't "Ben wanted dev to fix his issues with the mod or else!1!1" but "Mod maker should've told him he couldn't help or didn't want to help", yet modder didn't. It's a communication issue from Poly which he himself took personally and didn't like being called out on. You know, I'm saying this because I've struggled with communication issues before (in a professional environment no less). People can't guess what's on your mind and they should not, it's not their job. If you just ghost them they'll only have speculation as a means to understand what you've done and that usually doesn't go well. And then there's the whole other plethora of issues with design and criticism which are pretty obvious lol.

Those gas canisters scattered everywhere are just like devil's thorns, they're scattered everywhere in certain places and are way more of an annoyance than harm

Ben being chuffed to bits by his righteousness is pure comedy gold. This series is going to be lit.

The developer said something like “someone on their first playthrough wouldn’t get out the car” on the drive by mission. - that’s a lie, back in 04 when I was about 11 and couldn’t drive on GTA to save my life, I tried getting out my car and shooting at the ballas, and that’s exactly how I found out you can fail the mission for being out the car for too long

I can't lie the Ben vs Dev segment is probably one of the funniest videos ever. The sheer insanity of trying to comprehend the thoughts of a dev that cannot comprehend troubleshooting is fucking hilarious. Purely because the dude couldn't admit that he couldn't solve/didn't want to solve the issue.

Out of curiosity I went and checked the posts in the mod's forum thread that were made before EBen's playthrough - the remarks he's throwing at users that are having trouble with the mod are just as catty, if not worse LOL. No wonder he was behaving the way he did - guy's got hell of an attitude. My personal favorite quote from the dev when his recommended fixes didn't do the trick for someone: "This conversion is free and I pourred hundreds of hours into it, somehow you act as if you paid for it. If it doesn't work and you can't be nice even when I give MY PERSONAL time to help YOU, just f*ck off. "

Eben should make a Kitchen Nightmares styled series where he plays mods with negative ratings, gets the devs on the stream and argues with them.

I've recently been loving the content Ben but I wasn't expecting this type of ending lmao you were trying so hard not to be an asshole that was really good content can't wait for the next episode

I get that both parts may have their problems to criticize, some people here have already elaborated their own points and that's right and everybody has their thoughts regarding who's right or isn't. I agree on the part that the developer should've at least answered to Ben with the truth, just saying "man, I don't know how to fix it rn. I'm being honest" and all this conflict could've been avoided. And maybe this communication issue could've been addressed in a lighter way from Ben's side to begin with, especially considering that a solution wasn't reached yet. Maybe a "Guys, I've been talking to this modder and suddenly he stopped answering me. Do anybody here know him? Because I've done everything I could to reach him" and leave the rest as a private matter, you know. It wasn't very diplomatic to expose a conflict with someone on stream. I get is someone from internet that doesn't have any bond with you, but the conflict still involves Ben and him. Not his whole audience.

The whole argument could have been avoided if the dev message ben on discord something like: "Sorry, i cant help you, im busy at the moment. I'll try to help later" instead of ghosting him mid conversation.

For Drive-by, first players do get out of the car but most of the time, they end up failing because they stayed out of the car too long. So, the next time they retry it, they don't get out of the car. Its only true for FIRST timers

yeah... mod dev really sucks, cannot handle just basic criticism. as for mod - so far nothing interesting, basic values changer (big guns for enemies, low car health), props everywhere just to be annoying and screw up muscle memory. I did somewhat same mod for wd1 back in a day, but even then I knew its not really good, maybe I'll give it a try again some day, Ben's criticism applies well to every hard mod out there.

I don't even watch GTA SA stuff, but this is amazing.... Even I now know that the dev is something else. you Gain a sub for some quality content.

What can I say, the mod itself for me feels like a bunch of things throw into the game to "make it hard", but not in a creative way like DinosaurBytes do, that's why personally i don't really like this mod. I remember when i did Drive-By and had to use a cop car (the red and white version) simply because the Greenwood was paper like and couldn't get past the mission. Anyway, maybe the dev didn't know how to solve problems coming through other mods or mistakenly got out the discord server, who knows, but as Ben said, ghosting someone, even if you can or can't help him, is not a good thing to do

Honestly giant fucking props to you for staying out of that drama as well as emotionally handling it for as long as you did. It almost resembled a civil discourse at the start but I know if it was me I would've folded and just not had nearly as much fun after the first message. I learned a lesson here due to all this tho, one about gamedev and PR and shit.
