Have to say this was an exceptional analysis on both watches and the feelings towards them. Absolutely love the grape OP. An excellent one luxury watch collection 👌🏽
Hi Andrew, good see the fingers healing . I’ve got the 41 mm OP and wear it more than any of my other watches, enjoyed the video and great to see you back! Cheers
Always good to see your videos. You make some great points and very candid about your thought processes on being a watch enthusiast - which is why I enjoy your channel. Saying that, my observation is that the Datejust 41 looks pretty big for a 41mm watch. I wonder whether you would be happier with a 36mm datejust instead? If you had the DJ in 36mm, you may not have any need of the OP. Either way, they a re great watches, and I really like the grape colour dial. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
cheers Rich,, great comment and very much appreciated. I have considered the 36mm but I feel (rightly or wrongly) that it would feel too small - the Aquaterra 38mm two tone would be a better option for me....... maybe
I literally have the same two watches in the same sizes! My red grape OP gets the most wear because it doesn’t stand out as much. I wear my Datejust mainly on weekends.
Good to see you back buddy. Think your giving the grape dial unfair stick myself, I like it more because it’s different especially for a Rolex. Plus of course I hate fluted bezels and a cyclops, so if you had put a Casio F-91 up against it would of won 😆
OP go well with the tattoo art and for an everyday regular piece. and the two tone is a must for a fancy event a 36 DateJust suits you better. Both are equally great and necessary, I wouldn’t ever get rid of either if I where you maybe just trade the two tone to a smaller 36 mm.
Even though it is "entry level", I do think that grape dial is stunning! The only slight drawback is those red pips. The OP is definitely my favourite. There's so many occasions the grape dial will look great at.
Two great Rolex’s, but Iv had the grape 🍇 OP and totally regret selling it. So for me that’s the best. I’ve got a steel DJ with blue dial and nobody even notices it, but I’d be a bit paranoid wearing a two tone, it’s just a little flash for me and don’t want the attention. Great video as always Andrew, and that finger!!!!!!! Dude, that looks fuckin painful 😓
Great video 👏🏻 by the way the hair is looking strong mate 👍🏻 I’ve recently just got into watches and am hooked great to see a video with entry level Rolex talk I am currently looking to buy the Rolex airking 114210 blue dial that’s one of the entry level watches and I understand people think your buying it because it’s one of the cheaper ones but it’s what people like in watches like the OP. Couple of question mate do you like upgrading your straps ie rubber ones or jubilee bracelets as it can make a watch feel new or a different look ? And doesn’t it put you of getting a watch without paper work knowing that could cost you when you come to sell ? Keep up the videos top man 👍🏻
Cheers pal,,, glad you are enjoying the videos and the hair line 🤣 don't get hooked on watches mate,, it's a slippy slope you'll never recover from!!!!
@@watchandrew haha am 3 months in from mine from turkey mate fucking hurt wouldn’t be In a rush to get it done again 😂 Il take the advice on board mate 👍🏻just having a Rolex would feel nice feel like a achievement 😂. Keep the videos coming 👍🏻
Man, that finger looks nasty. Hope it heals soon. Personally, would opt for an Exp 39 or a Sub - both casual & formal covered in one 👍🏻 Have good Xmas! 🍻
Yeah both very nice, but as you say the date just is really nice 👍🏻, but definitely more eye catching, so good in some situations but you don’t want to attract the wrong sort of attention. But the op is a straight forward every day watch . I’ve got the solution for you mate, have and enjoy both 👍🏻😊. Although I must say the date just is a very very nice watch. I think 🤔 the date just is my favourite in the Rolex line up , when I was younger the sports models were all I wanted but the date just is my preference these days. If I could afford or buy a Rolex I would have one. Hair is looking terrific mate
Hi Andrew , I’ve got a Rolex Submariner date thinking of selling and buying a Patek Philippe Aqua-naught , stainless steel with a rubber strap if I can get hold of one . Thanks.
Wearability, I think that’s just because of the 2 mm size difference. I know it’s not really 2 mm but whatever. My most comfortable watches are 36 mm. I also have 42 mm, it is the night and day difference.
Both great looking watches Andrew . I prefer the OP , only because I'm not a fan of gold . I have a stainless DJ and I love it . The OP is a more suitable daily wear in my opinion but who the fck am I, to tell people what to strap on . Enjoy them both mate 👍
cheers John,,, the OP is so easy to wear but its crazy to have my most expensive watch sitting around for 'special occasions' - plenty of time to change my mind though - I best get online shopping obsessively with a wee dram 🥃
Don't care what they say, I like the grape. Would love either watch, but we do care what people say. I'd still buy the grape, just don't have the $$ forit anyway
With the opportunity to trade in at watches of Switzerland there could be an opportunity to trade in both and get a submariner which I think you would be more content with!!
Personally I would sell both and get a submariner. I don't think you can go wrong with a sub. Its dressy and sporty and comfortable too. The datejust is also a classic , but on a jubilee. Instead of the op, you should have got the explorer. Boring choices I know, but the right ones. You don't really seem satisfied with either , considering you spent nearly 17k .
I've always got that option to sell both and get a classic like the submariner - it has crossed my mind. I've kept these watches for over 6 months which is good for me - so I must like them a little bit 😂
@@watchandrew , watches are an expensive trip my friend, thats why I've stayed away from rolex. I've also realised that spending more doesn't always mean your getting more. But if I did splash out , it would be the submariner. But then I think is the sub 5x the watch of a black bay , talking used prices here , and that's where I struggle . I also like the high end seiko sla , I have an 043, and I got it nearly half price , and its a beautiful watch, made superbly and again doesn't cost an arm and a leg, but I absolutely love it.
