Helpful tip: Prime those dark colored stairs with a cheap primer. Then you would have only needed a coat or 2 of the expensive paint to cover the surface.
I just painted a concrete floor black with the same type of paint but for concrete too. Came out beautiful. I have stairs that I need to do and since you used the same paint that I have I'm trying this too. Great job.. Love the look...
Omg my contractor just told me to get this paint for our basement stairs. He said they use it for rental property because it’s thicker! Can’t wait to start this project.
This looks so beautiful. I’ve just spent the last week doing this exact same thing (our stairs used to have horrible 25 year old carpet on them). It’s been a huge task but I finally get to remove the masking tape this evening after applying a clear gloss layer today. I’m so excited! I’m only watching your video now. Your way looks much easier than how I did it. I masked so much before painting black. Your final result is gorgeous!! Great job beautiful lady 💕
Hi Ms. Jungic. After seeing this video, I painted my stairs with the same paint. They look wonderful. For some odd reason they collect dust and debris quicker now, which I hate it. Are your stairs slippery with the clear gloss? If not, what brand did you use.
I am about to do this and I wasn’t sure about the black and white. My home is an old house so I have the same issues with the uneven spots on the stairs. I absolutely love it great job! Thank you I feel better about doing it now!! Very clever doing every other step so you can still utilize the stairs why all the paint is drying!! 👍🏻
Hey I got the same paint from the home depot. I also got some grit stuff to put with it so it wouldn't be so slippery. I got the darkest black too. I didn't even think about using the edger. I watched your video to make sure I sanded my stairs properly. Thank you so much.
this is the easiest way to remodel stairs. But mine need much more. They have some holes and are uneaven on the surface. But a little holes filler and sander will help I hope. I just have to wait until walls are done and then I step into action! I can not wait and I am so excited!
Wonderful job! Really good idea to use the porch paint because of being a high traffic area! I also love the tip to paint every other stair but the put tape on the stairs you can step on when doing the others. Especially with children!
This is fantastic and yes, very inspiring. Can I just take a moment to say your little helper is the most beautiful, precious Angel. Those eyes though. Such a cutie pie. Thank You so much for sharing.... love to you from England. xxx
Fantastic explanation and look awesome after, you did a great job and great to see you getting the family in on the job, but you may have found a small roller easier than a brush
Halfway through doing my stairs before watching this video. Really just came here for some different ideas and I really like the tool you used on the stair top itself. I’m probably going to end up using a roller and cutting the edges once I tape off the wall but I’ll definitely keep that in mind for the future !
Sister if you paint more invest in a quality roller and small pale for cutting in. Small angled brush and technique. Looks great . Do you think a coat of poly would help wear.
Nice job lady, now my stairs are cover with carpet and I hate cause it just get dirty easily, so what advice you have for me as far as changing it or covering it with something much efficient and stain free?
@@tstimac5 ah!! Good luck! The only thing I wish I did better was prep (sanding the stairs better!!) I got lazy because I was over it and yo can see the paint lifting on areas where i was lazy for sure.
This was super easy and came out really nice. I liked the look of the paint especially the bannister paint it gave a really nice finish. The only thing I would say is you would of got a more crisper look if you sanded all the stairs and used wood filler to even out all the little holes and gaps around the steps. 👏👏👏
@@SimplyHandmade Hi yea but we are all learners I just did my stairs in black and white every other step very strange not having carpet anymore after many years. Keep up the videos girl☺
Doing some dusty basement steps, cat scratched the beams also. will also add slip strips on them because I do laundry down there , don't want to take a fall on new steps lol. Good job on yours, will be patching cracks with quick crete on the walls FIRST then DRY LOCKING them. Then, I will paint. That way the walls going down will be done and complete, wish me luck, stay safe .
Hey thanks for the helpful video! im planning to do this exact paint design to my staircase also. did u sand your stairs with sand paper ? and what was that tool you used to paint your stairs ?
Yay! Glad I could help. I sanded them down, yes and I used an edger (I think that's what it's called!) - it's a few bucks in the paint section of any hardware store!!
Yep! :) I got the porch/patio paint since those surfaces are expected to take a beating so I figured it would go great on the stairs. Instructions says to just scuff and add the paint so no real need for a finisher. I'm going to let it sit for a little bit. maybe a week or 2 since it does take some time to set. If I feel it needs a coat I'll definitely be updating the blog post to let you guys know :)
