@@TECH3_ Due to pandemic, I remembered I watched another video on YT there're problems on transportation. I know a lot of places and countries their delivering services are down.
I love my Enya carbons concert and soprano and after watching you demo the tenor I ordered it. I like everything about them and one more plus, the thinness is easier for me to wrap my arms around with my advanced age and short arms. Thanks for the great demo.
Thank you, Corey, for a great review of the Enya Nova U Pro - based on the review, I ordered this uke in black and it arrived yesterday … LOVE IT! It will be an outstanding travel addition for my small uke collection.
Oops - sorry about my misspelling of your name in my previous message, Cory. As a recent (started 6 weeks ago) uke player, I needed instruction as well as some great songs to get me started, so you have unknowingly become my online uke teacher... and I thank you!
I also have the RED concert sized Ukulele, and I have just ordered myself the acoustic Purple Tenor, I can't wait until it comes in. I Just love this line.
Great review, thanks! Ordered a tenor acoustic in "black", plus a set of Aquila 31U Fifths strings to tune it CGDA (plus can get GDAE with the capo). Have a soprano uke with built-in tuner, strung with Aquila 30U Fifths for GDAE tuning....so it's like having a nylon 4-string mandolin. So many folks are stringing ukes in 5ths tuning...great having the choice. Reminds me of reading about banjo players tuning guitars the same as their banjos so they could still play in bands wanting guitar sounds but the banjo players wanted to keep their familiar fingerboard...thus the creation of the tenor guitar. Gotta love music history and musical instrument evolution...such a living breathing subject.
Oh god, that sounds good! I have the nova concert, and i was thinking to buy the soprano. But after saw your review for the tenor size, I can't decide which one should i buy. 😂😂
@@CoryTeachesMusic Do you think the tenor pro is too big for a beginner? Because I wanted the black concert nova U but the frets are not visible as oppose to the TENOR U PRO in this tutorial. OMG I think I’m addicted and haven’t started learning yet lol please help 😕I want Enya but what is the TENOR too big for me ? Bye from Canada hey !!!! 😂
Great review! I just received my new Enya Nova U Pro (White) today. I wasn't expecting it until July. So far it meets my expectations for a $119 Uke. The White is very stunning, sound loud and rich. I was considering adding a low-g but I think the high-g is nice and crisp so I'll probably take my Kala tenor to a low-g instead. Thanks much for your channel!!!
I ve opted for a black version but you are rocking the white one and Idk why but in your hands white seems to be so good Idk if shud have opted for the white one I just let it be coz i didnt wanted it to get dirty and stuff.
Thanks Cory. Looking forward to the comparison. Would like to see a comparison between this and the Enya E6 an the Feather, preferably the electric/acoustic ones.
Very easy. I haven’t had any issues with it. The only think I had issue with is a scuff due to ink that was on my hands before I played, but that was my fault not the instruments lol
Cory do you think its worth investing in a tenor as I have very small hands -short fingers !!! I have 1 soprano and 3 concerts but my brother says I need a tenor LOL. Should I or not is the question. ??
I would say it depends on your budget. If you have the money to get one go for it. I also have small hands and while it will feel big, I think it’s a great challenge. I’m always an advocate for trying something out! As far as cost, I think the nova U pro would be a great one to purchase cause the price point is very reasonable for a tenor and it sounds good too!
@@CoryTeachesMusic Thanks Cory ! I really do appreciate the advice. I would recommend the Enya brand to anyone as is such a joy to play. Love your videos.
Hi Cory I’m new but I playing ukulele a year I want to buy tenor Enya acoustic plus ukulele, which is better colour the black or white? And can I use my amplifier 75watts thanks I hope you will reply me
I have never played the acoustic plus version of this, but I do have an acoustic plus for the concert size. That one does have a pick up and I’ve liked it when I’ve used it with amps. I would say that the self amplification is more subtle, but still worth the cost.
I'm a newbie and bought a concert Ohana and I'm not excited about it as I hoped. The red Nova has really caught my eye and am considering it. I'm indecisive as it is and throw a tenor option in the mix?! Ahhhhhh! Any thoughts?
I love the features on the tenor but the concert is my overall favorite cause it’s the size I like best. I think they are also coming out with a new purple color that is stunning!
do you think it can get scratched or the white can get stained or dirty? Im undecided between white or black, the white one is soooo pretty and i want it so bad but im worried on how it’s gonna handle my use in the long term
I really like the white and I’ve used it quite a lot since getting it and it hasn’t scratched or gotten dirty. I am pretty careful with my ukes though. Someone did share that their white nova u has gotten a little dirty over time. I have the black nova mini and have had a great experience. So if you generally do general cleaning and care I think you’ll be fine with either!
The material color is black, the white color is the paint. If you drop on a rough surface, the paint will chipped away. If that happens just get acrylic paint to repaint it. That's the type of paint people use to decorate ukuleles. Ukestuff did some tests on the concert size nova u, go check it out. It was a fun experiment which answered a lot of people's question back than.
Hi Cory. I have the concert sized Nova U electric in white. Its my favourite uke in my collection. I`ve been playing it about 2 months. It sounds so good, looks amazing and at £178.00 was worth every penny. The only problem with the white version is that it is really hard to keep clean. Even with washing my hands before I pick it up every time, I`ve noticed a distinct yellowing extending the whole way down the back of the neck. Im hoping it isnt going to get worse. Also it picked up some faint print marks from sheet music and I don`t know how to clean it off. They are tiny specks and arent so noticeable as they re on the back but I know they are there so its a bit annoying. Maybe should have gone for the black but saw a few people saying there was a bit of an issue with finger marks making it look a bit grubby. Also !!! Ladies if you wear make up be very careful !!! I may later on go for the pro when they introduce more colours.
I haven’t noticed any smudging on my white one and but at times my black Nova U Mini does get a little smudged, but luckily because of the material it’s super easy to clean. I think the white looks awesome, but I would agree if I didn’t already have a Nova in black, I would have gone for black for the Nova U pro. Hopefully they will expand the colors over time. I also keep my ukes on hooks and I’m careful to keep clean with them. I would add that the red Nova U I have is by far the one that stays the cleanest!
Girl you kept it's size a secret waaaay to long 😂. A more tactile back sounds awesome. I'll def use your link to order one. I am kinda disappointed in my Nova U soprano. The E string sounds clunky. I'm hoping new strings will fix it. It's such a perfect size. Does metal frets mean we can use wound strings?
Yes, you should be able to put a Low G on it. I will ask and get an official answer, but yea I LOvE this thing. It was hard not sharing it with everyone until now :)
Hmmmm, that’s tough cause they are totally different. I ended up putting a low G on my other one and use it when I want more range so the tone is totally different now. They are very similar price points so I suppose it depends on what you want more. I think overall the tone might be slightly better on the MS but I really like the versatility of the Nova pro. So if you like wood tones more go for MS if you want some that will never warp and get weird with weather and whatnot, I’d go with the pro.
@@CoryTeachesMusic i have a laminate wood uke already planning to put low g strings on that, i want a bright tone but i just cant decide whether go with the transacoustic or the electric acoustic ms , one question does the nova u pro work good if like to play percussive ( like drumming on the body ) ?
@@CoryTeachesMusic I gotcha. Just saying tho, since it is a traditional Hawaiian instrument, I believe that using the Hawaiian pronunciation would be more respectful, appropriate, & appreciated
@@HeyAnnieMok Everyone has different opinions on it. I've had people from Hawaii tell me they prefer non-Hawaiians to use either, so I always teach my students the history of the instrument and the traditional pronunciation, but whether you call it a "uke" or say it either way, the important part is to play and have fun. Plus, the instrument has a history that reaches even outside of Hawaii, so multiple cultures have contributed to the eventual development of the instrument in Hawaii.
@@CoryTeachesMusic As Spock says, Fascinating! LOL. I said that 'cause a friend visited Hawai'i pre-panini & a native tour guide corrected them. Thnx for yr insight & work!
Lava Us do sound great, but they are also a LOT more expensive too. Even with the acoustic plus version of the Nova U Pro it is still almost $150 less than the Lava U. I think the cheapest I’ve ever seen one is like $340 on sale. And the acoustic versions come in just under $300 I think so I would hope for that price it was pretty great 😊
I think “cheap” is always relative. This ukulele is really great at this price point. Most good travel tenors start closer to $300 range so this is a great deal for the sound quality. The tone is never going to sound the same as a wooden instrument. I would also add that yes, while I’m an Enya Artist, I LOVE their instruments and I am never paid to say anything. These are all my honest opinions. I’m not saying that this travel uke can out perform a much more expensive one, but for its price and all of the pros, I highly recommend for anyone wanting to try out a tenor or looking for something that works great for travel or whatnot! I’d also add that I am proud to work with Enya because they really listen to feedback from their customers and make improvements to their instrument lines based on that feedback so if there is something you think could improve the product feel free to share and I can pass it along or ask any questions.
