This song means a lot for me. After moving to USA, I could not see my sister for 4 years because of the pandemic. We met again in Miami. Returning home, on my way to the airport at 4AM, it was raining. I was in a Uber ride and I remember this song starts playing on the radio as well.
I remember when this version hit the radio airwaves. It was never official, even though it got airplay. From what i recall, a radio DJ made this version and started playing it instead of the original. And the rest is history. That is why is not on Spotify, iTunes or on the released singles of the song.
@@boxcarjoefromhalflife2 i believe so. Luckily some people recorded it or a copy of the mix got out. But that's just what i recall. If I'm in error, I don't think it's by much at all. I was listening to the radio when this mix was out a lot.
@@christianmoya5268 Just heard this remix for the first time and I absolutely love it! It's rare that a remix is better than the original but this one seems so to me!
The best Only Time Remix. This is the only LEGIT remix. No Only Time remix comes close to this. It preserves the sanctity of the original song and the drums comes in rhythm with the song.s Other remixes are just the opposite. too much drums just kill the integrity of the tune as in other remixes.
Love how you can still hear the pizzicato from the original. I remember that this version was being worn out right after the September 11th attacks by radio stations all over the country here in the US.
It sounds like you were blessed, and you have embraced the moment and it helped you to grow in ways you never imagined. Music is a universal language that everybody's soul speaks.
This was used for tribute for tragic terrorist attack like Manhattan World Trade Center Bombing on September 11, 2001. The Boston Marathon Bombing on April 15, 2013, and many other terrorist attacks.
Yes. It was heavily used for about a year after September 11th. And rightfully so. So that's always what I immediately relate it with even though it was out for over a year before when it was used in the film Sweet November with Keanu and Charlize.
You know why this remix is so good that it's almost better than the original? There is no annoying (Feat.) rap vocals attached to it. Most songs that tries to make it hip hop wants to attach rap vocals that ends up destroying the song.
@djtedn The 'Only Time Remix' was brought to REPRISE RECORDS back in 2001 already remixed by the Swiss American Federation who are Enya fans. Nicky Ryan was actually unaware of the remix at first. Reprise tested it with several stations; Z100 in NYC being one of them. The song caught fire after Z100 added it. You can watch the "Official Remix Video" on youtube at their channel 'wearesaf' or @safmusic it was S.A.F. who actually started it all. FYI-They have a remix in of Wild Child coming soon.
@UseTheLoo That was the point of Z100 in New York when they did this promo remix. Later on it was re-done by Enya's producer to be bought commercially. This sound made it more top 40 radio play able. Which helped make the song and album explode.
This version, is the official version for the US. Yet in my opinion, I prefer the UK's official version, for it's more grounded, heavier, and more essence. This version feels very light, in my opinion.
