Having trouble using this with the DA qConnect. I get stuck on reading presets, writing names. If i click away, I can change the sounds via the editor and see the lights on the pedal change, but I cant save the preset to the pedal or read the presets from the pedal. Its like the enzo is only receiving data and not sending it. Any ideas? mac bigSur usb to qconnect TRS to Enzo settings on Enzo: midi ch1 midi out exp to midi settings on qConnect: usb to midi thru to ALL
The qConnect must connect to the Enzo using port X on the Qconnect, be sure to set it to MD.io; See the bottom of page 11 of the online qConnect manual. If you still have issues contact DisasterArea, their customer support is quite good and they can help you out.
This is great. Can you use it with midi in to the enzo only (e.g. via any of the midi in only boxes with switchable tip or sleeve like the empress or chase bliss ones) or does it specifically require having to have both midi in and out (I.e. specifically using the meris midi box)? I’ve got one of the first kind as I have other non-meris midi over jack pedals, so if it does send only I’m getting this straight away if it still works with unidirectional comms and I can’t get the editor to read anything back from the enzo. But if it has to have bidirectional comms I guess I’m out of luck without buying a new midibox.
The editor requires a bi-directional midi-connection, midi in and midi out. The empress Midibox2 has 1 bidirectional connection, and of course you can use the Meris Midi I/O.
Hi Elliot! the editor crashes when I try to connect it to the Enzo. I use M-Audio Midisport Uno and Meris Midi I/O. Global settings are correctly set. The PC has Windows 11. Do you have any advice to resolve the issue? Your editor is amazing and I really wish I could use it. Thank you
What is the error, what are you doing when it crashes. I think there are 2 possible issues. A virus scanner could have corrupted the installation, or the .ini file got corrupted. You can also take the next 2 steps, they may fix the problem: 1) In the directory: "C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\Enzo Edit Presets and Library" there are 2 files, delete the file main.ini, this file holds the window size and position and the default locations of the library. If you delete this file a new one will be created the next time the program starts. If this file was corrupted this will fix the issue. Restart the app and see if it works. If it doesn't go to step 2: 2) Reinstall: In WIndows go to settings, Apps find the editor and uninstall. Then turn off your virus scanner and reinstall the app. Try the app if it works, turn your virus scanner back on. If those fixes did not work: There is a log file that captures behavior of the program located at: C:\Users\YourUserName\.kivy\logs There is a list of txt files in this directory. One is created when the app runs. Look at the most recent log, if there are errors reported in the log, let me know the error. I'm confident we can get you up and running. Please let me know how it goes. Good Luck!
@@ElliotGarbus Thank you for your immediate support! There is no error text, after clicking connect the app no longer responds and I'm forced to stop it using task manager. I'll follow your instructions with fingers crossed and let you know. Thanks again for your time.
This is fantastic! Thank you very much for making this! It is really worth a lot for me. Thanks! I would not mind paying a few euro's for an app like this. Maybe a pay-as-you-wish webshop? Thanks!
I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the app. If you would like to make a donation, go to the help menu and select "Donate". This will take you to a Paypal site. Thanks!
Hi Elliot - awesome application you've developed here, extremely impressive and a much needed UI to help manage quite a daunting task, even with a midi editor like morningstar or something. Had a question - you mention disasterarea products specifically quite a bit - does this application require disasterarea midi controllers? I was getting similar errors that I see other folks post about - the lights blinking but the app hangs on 'Reading Presets, Writing Names' but never completes. I'm using a morningstar midi box with 1/8 inch to TRS cable converter, TRS cable into Enzo, midi in and midi out from the midi box to a Scarlett 8i6, usb to from scarlett to my mac pro. Not sure where I could be going wrong, perhaps the 1/8 inch to TRS converter? The midi box needs to convert TRS to midi directly, not going through a converter like that? Or it shouldn't matter? Thanks and much appreciated for all the helpful responses!
The app requires a bi-directional midi connection midi in and midi out. The TRS ports on the MS midi box are midi out only. The app is not receiving data from the pedal. Use a Meris Midi IO to connect to your Scarlett.
I have a qConnect and an Enzo. I have things configured for channel 1. I have MIDI THRU ON set to MIDI OUT on the ENZO. I have TRAILS AND SPLIT OUTPUT set to OFF. I have EXPRESSION MODE set to MIDI. On my qConnect I have Midi THRU set to ALL. I have InCh set to 1. When I hit connect, it clicks through the patches on the enzo, and I see them change on the qConnect screen, but it doesn't read the names of the patches in, or the parameters. Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong? thank you.
Hey Elliot! Thanks for this killer editor and librarian for the Enzo! I got it yesterday, and have been playing around with it. I've managed to use a bunch of the presets in the librarian, and also do some tweaks of my own, as well as save them on the Enzo. The only thing I can't seem to get working is the bi-directional midi messages, and so the Enzo isn't transmitting the patch names (they're all showing as unnamed) and it won't show the settings on the knobs... Make sense? I'm using a TRS jack to transmit between the Enzo and a DMC Micro Gen 3. I've got the midi thru on the Enzo set to OUT. I've got the multijack on the Micro set to MIDI3 (as the Disaster Area guys said that is what I need to use if I want to transmit midi in and out). I'm transmitting to the Editor by using micro-usb from the Micro to USB into my mac, and I'm using V3.51. The USB on the Micro is set to MIDI But it's still showing everything as unnamed, and with no settings visible. Is there anything else that I could be doing wrong? I'd love to have a chat so that I can get the editor working 100% Thanks! Jeremy
@grooveboyjazz Make sure the inChan on the Micro is different than the channel the Enzo is set to. If you turn the knobs on the pedal you should see them move on the screen. Not seeing the names suggests the computer is not getting information from the pedal. The guys at DisasterArea should be able to help you get the Micro properly configured.
okay i final got and am begining to customize some patches configed the midi baby midi IO and midi to the usb and the multijack got the two way communication i was to name the patchs and can i enter the tempo Manuel as the slider seems the only way at the moment i can post screen shots for my set up to thouse who need help
@@thomasnicolajiversen7516 Unfortunalty, you can not use your MC3 in this role. The editor requires a bi-directional connection to the pedal, midi-in and midi-out. There are 2 conversions that need to happen TRS from the Meris pedal to Midi (In & out) and midi to USB. I use the Meris Midi I/O and a Roland UM-OneMk2. There are other products that work as well.
Ross Byron a few things to check: TRS cable between Enzo & MidiBaby; on Enzo Midi Out is set, midi ch on editor matches the ch on the Enzo. Midi Ch on midi baby must be different.
@@ElliotGarbus midi out was the trick even the the lit says use midi though but that got the two communication going how do i update the patch names? in the editir be for i move then to enzo? the 16 slots are still coming up untitled
