Enzyme Inhibition
Any substance that can diminish the velocity of an enzyme reaction is called inhibitor.
Two general classes of inhibitors are:
1. Reversible inhibitor
2. Irreversible inhibitor.
Different types of reversible enzyme inhibition are:
i. Competitive or substrate analogue inhibition
ii. Non-competitive inhibition
iii. Uncompetitive inhibition
Irreversible inhibitors can be divided into three categories:
substrate analogue inhibitor or affinity labels
Group specific inhibitors
suicide inhibitor or mechanism based inactivation.

very well explained sir.... please elaborate why km value for competetive inhibition is increased while Vm is same.
@Biochemistrybasics
@Biochemistrybasics 2 года назад
competitive inhibitor competes with the substrate for the active site of the enzyme: This means that increasing the concentration of substrate will decrease the chance of inhibitor binding to the enzyme. Hence, if the substrate concentration is high enough the enzyme will reach the same Vmax as without the inhibitor. However, it will require a higher concentration of substrate to achieve this and so the Km of the enzyme will also be higher. Hope it clears

In reversible inhibitor binds with noncovalent bonds so they can remove easily while in irreversible inhibitor binds with convent bonds so they can't seperate easily so it's irreversible
