Since parity can be a weak method of error detection, we introduce the datasum-based checksum, show how it is calculated, and show how to compute the 1’s complement and 2’s complement checksums from a datasum.
I watched 3 videos on RU-vid in order to have a deep understanding about addtion checksum and this is the best among all. 1. explains one could choose to add the extra carry in the additon or disgard the carry 2. explains why use 1s complement to get the checksum 3. explains the differences between 1s complement and 2s complement None of the others explain these. People wants to know why beyond how and what. Thank you professor!
I would like to confirm that, you mention that adding the carry into the addtion is by "convention", really? So digarding the carry is also totally fine?
