Thank you great video I was surprised how cheap it was to make I wonder how actuate it is looks like it works well could these be wired for coax use if needed. I really like the project and enjoying your content others can learn from you thanks again

Yes a coax one could be built , just dont connect the counter direct to the center , even just a few turns of wire wrapped around the center will pick up on, they are very stable.

I also mounted the counter on a President Jackson. I decoupled after the RX/TX mixer and subtracted the IF frequency. The counter already has this calculation function built in. You program this with the two buttons on the back of the board. Then it shows the frequency when receiving and transmitting. There is also another problem: In some modules the signal (measuring input) is installed in a twisted manner. Black is then the "hot" input and red is ground. It seems to me that this is also the case with your meter because it shows confusing stuff when "idling" ;-) mny 73 + 55 Bernd

Hi , if it had 2 if adjustments then it would be perfect for displaying rx and tx on the cobras and such . I will have a look in mine to see if that input is what you say. Thanks for your comments.

@@MicroChipz It is also possible to save a second IF calculation and call it up using a switch. I solved it this way with my Atlas210 because the device does highside injection below 10 MHz and lowside injection above 10 MHz. So you can also subtract or add the same IF. Or you can save two different IF frequencies in this way. The switch is installed between pin4 and pin3 of the module.

I did the same thing few months ago and I went for red to Not blue as it makes my eyes blurry am all for red long with my old school radios. Great video.

Absolutely superb build, I wish i stillmhad a frequency counter, just dig my old CBs out thw loft, one being a Cobra that hasnt been epromed sontrying to remember whi h channels are what is hard

Thanks , unfortunately this only works on transmit not like the cobra when its wired inside and works on rx and compensates for the usb/lsb offsets.

What was the value of the capacitator you added?

it was not anything special , 103 or 104 , something like that.

Great video. How would you connect the output to a standard CB with just only the aerial? Cheers..

Easy just fit 2 so239 sockets , join them in together , then tap off through a capacitor any maybe a resistor to the input of the counter,i have done this with my other counter you see on my videos with the 8 digit display. i made one specifically for the jumbo with the 3.5mm jack.

Hand which value of capacity and resistance would you suggest for 27 MHz and 1 to 10 watts operations?

@MicroChipz would you use a similar so239 approach If you wanted to add a screw in type telescopic aerial/antenna like some frequency counter have ? 73

Would it be possible to make one work like the old superstar 3900 crt/galaxy type counters? You could connect internally to any radio with the supplied “fly lead” and it would give you your frequency weather you was in Rx or tx on any mode. It seems theses types of counter are no longer made..

I don't think its possible with this unit .
