Pastors Jon Benzinger and Costi Hinn offer biblical clarity concerning Bethel Church leader’s recent attempt to raise a two-year-old girl from the dead (#WakeUpOlive) over the course of multiple days. Speakers like Heidi Baker were flown in for special services, and mainstream recording artists like Kari Jobe promoted the efforts that included demanding God to raise Olive from the dead.

@@calebbonny8848 How is asking for $100,000 for Olive to be raised from the dead good theology....please explain this. Look into the Twitter account of Bill Johnson where he states...quoate " we are asking $100,000 for the resurrection of Olive". Explain to me where Jesus or the apostles asked for money for a healing/creative miracle. Do your homework. If you cannot provide a scriptural basis that there must be a gift offering/ money in order for healings and people being raised from the dead to come...then our conversation is over.

My concern is that people outside the body of Christ say, "See? Your God is not faithful and your Bible is not true". It hurts the faith of those inside the church too. I came out of Word Faith Positive speaking, after being so hurt by it. When it didn't add up any longer I had to ask God to show me Truth and release me from all bad teaching I had received. Now I feel free, and no matter what, I am not ever disappointed in God. I surrender all control to Him, our wise Savior.

Don't you know that without faith it is impossible to please God? faith is not positive speaking but speaking affects our faith. it starts with the hearing and then faith comes. can you let go of faith? Of course, people do it all the time. Faith is not a temporary belief, but persistent belief. How do you persist in your belief. By the renewing of your mind? How do we do that? By speaking your faith. For as a man speaketh so is he. We are called into faith. Faith to the unbelievers is nonsense. To the Jews, it is risky and leads to our perdition. But to us who believe in Jesus Christ it is power, it is the resurrection, it is our hope, it is our salvation. God wants us to desire. But only desire a good thing. To hunger... for righteousness. If you don't see it, hunger for it. Is it right for kids to die before their time? Is it right for sickness and disease to be rampant among believers whom are Children of the Most High God, not by the will of man, but by the will of God. If you've been to a Word of Faith church, than you must have experienced being born again. You must have receiving the promise of the Father, the Spirit that cries out Abba, Father. Now is not too late to return to God. Grab again the faith that is presented before you and hold on and never let go. You are now a faith creature. If you are not always in faith then the spirit is not in you and if the spirit is not in you, you are none of his. Seek to know God. He is not just a one time born again experience, he is so much more.

I fear for their grieving process; I fear for the time they wake up and realize God is God and can do what He chooses to do. He gives and He takes. As the 3 Hebrew boys said, "I know God can take me out of the furnace, but even if He doesn't I won't bow to the idols." I wish they would take that same stand. "I know God can raise her from the dead, but if it's her time to go, I will see her again." Mentally, this family is going to have a hard time recovering. We lost our boy Nathanael when he was a week old back in 1995, we had so many people praying in faith, including us, he went home to be with the Lord, a very small band of people said we did not have enough faith & that is why he didn't survive, I was a fairly new Christian & was devastated, I had a crisis of belief & fell into depression for a year, we went to a new church who helped us to get the right theology & that we weren't being punished for not having enough faith or punished for past sins, God told me to Trust Him & that He Loves us & is with us, that was enough to move on with Him & I was revived in my Faith. Our healing came from Gods word & His love, I pray for others who have gone through this, God is faithful, His love is eternal, Trust Him with your lost loved ones, He will heal your pain & revive you & you will see good come out of painful loss.

From my own experience I've learned that it comes down to whether we hear the voice of the Lord speaking into the situation, or not. In the account of Jairus' daughter being raised from the dead, the daughter's father was able to believe she would be raised from the dead because he heard the news from the Lord Himself. He said 'Don't be afraid; only believe." It wasn't that he somehow summoned enough faith within himself to name and claim her being raised from the dead; it was that he heard the voice of the Lord in the matter, and believed what he heard from God. In my situation, at the age of 19 months my son fell off a staircase with no railing in a construction zone and landed on his head on a concrete floor. He was unconscious when we rushed to the hospital with him and his dad was afraid he was dying. I started wailing out to the Lord 'Please don't take him!!' Then I heard the voice of the Lord. He said "Sing to him!" Immediately I was strengthened in my heart and mind simply because I heard His voice. I started singing to our son as I held him in my arms on the drive to the hospital. When I sang one of the lines of the song the Lord quickened the words with His Spirit so I knew that what I was singing, was true: "And yes, I know, you'll grow to be strong and tall." As soon as I said the words the Lord confirmed them by His Spirit. I knew I was to go through everything that followed, believing he would recover fully and grow to be strong and tall. Once in the hospital he regained consciousness as he went for x-rays and a ct scan. He had a massive skull fracture and bleeding on the surface of his brain. We were transferred by ambulance to a children's hospital in a nearby city. The situation was so grave the doctor accompanied our son in the back of the ambulance. Once at that hospital the news was not good. If the bleeding didn't subside soon, an operation was needed and he had a 50/50 percent chance of survival. But I had heard God's voice and I believed what I heard. I moved right into the hospital room to be with our son 24/7. One of those days the hospital staff urged me to go for a walk and get some air. I walked past a great cathedral that was having a time of hymn singing. Went inside to hear a congregation singing with a booming pipe organ echoing through the hall. I sang my heart out to the Lord. Again He quickened some of the words -'How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith in His excellent Word.' In less than a week we were discharged from the hospital. The bleeding had stopped, no operation was needed, but only time to recover. That was 24 years ago. My son is now six-foot-four and a very strong young man, fully healed, a man after God's own heart. That's 'way different than naming and claiming something to happen while not hearing the voice of the Lord in the matter, nor discerning His will. The One who lives on both sides of death's door knows why some pass over, and some remain. Either way, they're with Him.

That's a great story, but only your personal experience. The prophet Elisha heard nothing from the Lord concerning the Shunnamite woman's son. In fact, he said "The Lord has hidden it from me". He clearly didn't know what to do. But his persistence was rewarded and he raised him from the dead. Your story is nice but it does not establish the principle that you have to hear from God in order to raise the dead. The scripture, as I have just demonstrated, shows that you can raise the dead with Compassion and perseverance alone. God bless.

Jesus can and Will ..do anything ..even move mountains .. when believed in ...watch this next generation move out in Jesus fiery kind of faith .. were either hot or cold ..

Lovely testimony. Jesus said "I do that which I see my Father do." Jesus was so I'm sync with the Father that He could never fail. It's the best position to operate from though hard. However, there's also the "gift of faith." God can give a tremendous faith for a situation and that always works. Jesus also said in other places, that they may see and glorify the Father..." Takeaway? Motive is everything. Who's being glorified. Mt. 18:19. Touching and agreeing is also a Biblical position. Either way these false teachers misrepresented what's happening at Bethel or any other church that seems to manifest Christ. The spirit of Antichrist is already in the world said John. I dare say it's more in the church than in the world and it's hiding in people like these who contradict the work of Calvary and of Christ who showed no weakness. Here's a bitter pill for us church. Jesus rebuked his own disciples when they couldn't cast out a devil. Be rebuked!! Don't explain it away, own it and go seek God!!! Peradventure He'll show up again in our midst and shut people mouths. One cripple answered the critics, "I don't know who He is... All I know is I was sick and now I'm healed." These kinds of testimonies wilk shut people like Costi and other weak Gospel perpetrators. I'm livid with holy lividity that God's people can't see what outright in the Bible. Read last words of Jesus. Raising the dead in Biblical!!!! Mark16: 15....

Sister, would you not have felt uneasy when the disciples heard that Peter was in a nearby city and refused to bury the body of Dorcas so that he can come to pray for her? would it not have been unsettling that the Body of Christ in Joppa would expect Dorcas to come back to life? if we were believers in those days, would we have criticized peter for even thinking he is thinking he is some god? should we stop praying ? should we consider something is impossible once it appears like it is too difficult in our sight? Should we not pray for the sick to be healed because we prayed for someone and they were not healed? how can we even trust that the bible is true if the things that are recorded in it should not be expected in our day? Does Peter have a different kind of salvation from us? Is Paul God's favourite? The disciples encountered a child that was having serious epileptic fits and they tried to heal the child but they didn't succeed. Jesus rebuked them, not for trying to cast the devil out but for not casting the devil out. then asked him, why they couldn't do it. did he seize the moment to remind them that they are mere mortals and they should not consider that they could do such things? NO!!! He showed them what could have been missing and why they couldn't. Did he make a mockery of them? did he ridicule them for trying? did he call them names? When Peter decided to walk on water and he tried and walked a little bit and sank was it time for Jesus to remind him not to ever consider himself as special as the son of God? should we stop pressing for things because we are not seeing them. and like many have pointed out, Bill clearly spelt out his position and his biblical view on this but I think people who are prejudiced already will believe what they chose to believe about him and the Bethel church. Natalie Nubukpo, if you actually stood up for the written Word of God then you would stand against these heretics and false prophets at Bethel, who are Satan’s minions masquerading as ministers of righteousness. God’s Word says HIS WILL BE DONE, NOT OUR WILL! Did you overlook that scripture? We don’t command God to do what we want done, we trust in Him when His will is done even though it’s contrary to what we were hoping for. His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts, because He is perfect in all His ways and greater than us. Bethel charges people tuition to go to their school to learn to become prophets and apostles. Where in God’s Word do you read of the Old Testament prophets or the apostles going to a school to learn to prophesy and perform miracles? NOWHERE!! Because you CAN’T LEARN the gifts that COME FROM GOD. These charlatans prey on the biblically illiterate. God’s Word is our only authority and we are told to TEST EVERYTHING AGAINST THE SCRIPTURES. These wolves in sheep’s clothing focus on signs and miracles because they are preparing the masses to accept the lying signs and wonders from the false prophet that will cause people to worship the Antichrist and take the mark of the beast, and they will spend eternity in Hell because they didn’t love God enough to study the Bible. God gave us His truth in the scriptures, and it’s our responsibility to study God’s Word to know HIS TRUTH. Do you know they preach a false Christ who was only a man and Bill Johnson teaches Jesus emptied Himself of His divinity? That’s completely OPPOSITE OF WHAT THE SCRIPTURES SAY. What saith the scriptures? “Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: that GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, received up into glory”, 1 Timothy 3: 16. Acts 20: 28 says the church is purchased with THE BLOOD OF GOD. The scriptures declare Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, so Bill Johnson of Bethel is a liar who preaches a false Jesus that CAN’T SAVE ANYONE. Only faith in the true Jesus Christ of the Bible saves. Jesus warns us that in the end times false prophets and false Christs would deceive many and cause many to turn away from the truth of God’s Word. That’s what you see happening, the great falling away foretold in 2 Thessalonians 2. And because they didn’t love the truth which is God’s written Word, and they didn’t read the Word of God, God sends them strong delusion so they will believe the lie and be damned for eternity. I stand up for the TRUTH OF GOD’S WORD, and I stand against the liars and deceivers in the pulpits! That’s what standing up for God’s Word is, you expose the lies of those who are claiming to be ministers of righteousness, but are actually workers of darkness who teach lies that are not in alignment with what God says in His Holy Scriptures. God’s Word commands us to expose these frauds who are workers of darkness. *”For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”* - Hebrews 4: 12.

While people are entitled to disagree with Bethel's response to this tragedy, I take issue with the word "charade" in your title. This wasn't a charade to the members of that church, and it most definitely wasn't a charade to the parents who lost their two-year-old child unexpectedly. It is one thing to disagree with another church, it is another to cast aspersions on their intentions and to mock the response of devastated parents. I would strongly encourage you to reconsider your language.

I agree totally with you in this, Michelle! My heart breaks that rather than stand up for people who are believing in a God of miracles, we would rather put them down for their faith and bring disunity throughout the body. Even Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were not "sure" God would intervene for them but put their faith in God anyway. Daniel 3 17 says, "If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18 But if not..." So they put their trust in God even while not sure that anything would happen. The fact that Bethel "family" all around are trying to raise a little girl from the dead should ENCOURAGE our faith to do the same and more, so it is sad that rather than stand with the Bethel "family" all over the world, we would try to distance ourselves as if God is "not into people showing faith". MY HEART BREAKS NOT ONLY FOR THE FAMILY BUT FOR THE CHURCH AS A WHOLE THAT WE ARE SO DISMEMBERED, THAT WE ATTACK OUR OWN MEMBERS WHO ARE TRYING TO ACT IN FAITH TOWARD OUR MIGHTY GOD. When people in the Olympics or sports try something and fail, we encourage them to "try again and to succeed", yet in the church, we shoot our own wounded and scoff at their attempts to try something out of the ordinary. My heart is grieved at the whole church body that we are not yet "one in Christ" and that we "eat" our own body like cannibals!

Listening to the recent message from Bethel's pastor about this subject, it hit me hard when he said that the little girl did not die in God's timing. Who has the authority then to call her spirit out of her body if it is not God?. Some of them were also saying that her time on this Earth is not done. So, what are they saying? that God made a mistake calling her sooner? I think there's a fine line between what faith is and what is to understand and accept God's Sovereign. It is sad to see that all this movement is based pretty much on "feelings", and don't take me wrong, I'm myself a mother. Their child was precious and much loved. Losing her is terrible and will be so painful regardless of their beliefs and faith, but that is absolutely natural. Is this baby raise from death, I would be the first to bow and give all the Glory to God, but like you're explaining, what is the perception this will provoke....that "we are immortal"? That every other child will raise from death just because "everyone has the same privilege"? I agree this is not biblical. This situation is turning really scary.

Everyone, please go read Bethel Church's Instagram page. An excerpt from the post " In this situation, grief has not been avoided, as we have all been grieving from the moment we heard the news. Faith isn’t denial of the facts or of our emotions, it is knowing that God cares and intervenes in the midst of them. Here is where we are: Olive hasn’t been raised. The breakthrough we have sought hasn’t come. With the same heart of confidence in God’s goodness, we receive the comfort of the Good Shepherd as Andrew, Kalley, and Olive’s big sister Elsie, their family, and our church walk together through the valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23). And so, we are moving towards a memorial service and celebration of her life." Please let us rather pray for one another than judge or criticize and be kind to each other even though we do not agree. @A. Smith, so how do you explain our mandate to “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons”?
@micahmiss
@micahmiss 4 года назад
@@ryanb3547 Did God give yóu that mandate, personally? In my personal relationship and intimate walk with God, He has given me one mandate: to be obedient to Him, to seek Him in everything I do. If God specifically leads me to pray for someone who has died, I will surely do it. But just like Jesus said of His own ministry and miracles, I won't do a thing out of my own if my Father in Heaven does not Will it so. Getting to know the God we serve and what His Will for us is, personally, requires more than fragmented scriptures without context taken from all over the New Testament. Everything Jesus said was based on the foundation of the theology already revealed to the Jews up to that time and without that context our own theology and understanding of mandate in our lives is very easily skewed. If a worship leader asks me to pray for the resurrection of their child, I will first seek God's Will before praying according to a specific agenda. If Holy Spirit leads me, then I will join the prayer for resurrection, but I won't just pray it unthinkingly without seeking God first of all.

Alas it is not our faith that can raise the dead, it is His faith alone that can do so and the Spirit distributes that gift of faith as He wills for His specific purposes according to His will. I’ve seen Him do amazing things through my hands but man oh man am I in error if I were to believe that somehow my own human faith can make that happen, no, rather the gift of faith is given to operate another given gift. @Micah, if Jesus is God, then yes. It is straight out of the mouth of Jesus in scripture. Scripture also states that we should know the will of God. Do I need to pray before loving my neighbor? Two, people start saying “oh well God can bring her back” and yes he can but we forget that what we want and what God wants, our plans vs his plans are not the same Isaiah 55:8. We want things or ask for things to happen when we haven’t even asked God if that’s his will. We do things thinking we are doing his will but we never took the time to ask God. Thirdly, what happens to those who see all of this in the case that the girl stays dead, what happens to the weak of faith or those who were getting close and after this experience they stray? What happens to those who say “oh it will his glory that she didn’t resurrected” but again they don’t know his will. But they act like it’s nothing.

How long will it be before the parents and others eventually walk away because God did not do what they wanted? What about the guilt satan will put in peoples lives because the child wasnt raised , like maybe i didnt have enough faith. Why did'nt they fund the family instead of a go fund me. What if she had been raised and then church members went and tried to do miracles and could'nt , wouldnt that put in those people minds that im less than because i couldnt do like the church leaders do? Would that not then cause people to walk away because they were not super christians like the leadership. This is reckless theology. I cant even lay all the blame on the church leaders, because the people in the seats have the responsibility for reading and studying the word and rightly dividing the word. You’re missing the point completely. The issue is not in believing that in Jesus name miracles can be done. The issue is in the way they frame their prayer commanding God to do what they ask. No one, no human can ever command God nor do they have that power or authority over him to do so. Plus, we are ignoring something big that only someone spiritually mature would know, have you asked God if it’s his will that she will rise? Have you prayed for his will and plan to be made clear and manifest in this situation? A Christian just coming to Jesus prays by asking what they want and someone with more experience in the spirit will pray for his will. Isaiah 55:8 is very clear that his thoughts vs ours are not the same. It’s not wrong to pray and have faith in miracles but it’s wrong to assume Gods will.

Thank you for being truthful. Firstly, we should remember this couple have lost a precious child and are experiencing unspeakable pain. However, as a body, we must not stand idly by and watch vulnerable people being led astray. I believe in God’s sovereignty, and His ability to do what HE wants to do in His time. Bethel’s head pastor said they started praying for resurrection at the parents’ request. NOT because the church believed Olive’s passing was not the will of God. That is significant, and a glaring error in my opinion. Jesus came to earth to perform signs and wonders in line with OT prophesy. His existence on this earth proved he was the Messiah. So yes, Jesus raised the dead, and He can do it again, but to demand that He does so now... when prophesy has already been fulfilled, is wrong. I pray the family can find comfort in realising that Olive is where we all long to be, in the presence of our Father. No more pain, or suffering. That is our hope, and it is selfish to demand that God releases her from His presence. If it is His will that she be raised, God will do it. We must not faith in works that even evil spirits can perform, but in God’s ability to fulfil that which He has promised. He promises eternal life, and that is what he has given to Olive now. I am praying for her family, and for those who have suffered loss and are triggered by this debacle.

The relief came just a couple of days after attending a conference called Prophecy Again in Sylvan Lake Canada. I think as you do that the church praying together and grieving together in song and prayer. Time spent together can be helpful I believe to those grieving the loss of Olive. In the account of Jesus raising the young daughter from the dead there was music and grieving going on. At this point I am just so grateful for what I have experienced in a recent deliverance from a terrible situation that I say there may be some things to be concerned about and to address at Bethel Church. On the other hand I think that we want to be open to God and not determine that rising from the dead is only for the last day when Jesus returns.

She’s a singer in their mega-band. I pray this wakes them to the false apostle, Bill Johnson’s, teachings. If Jesus’ name doesn’t cause Olive to come outta that grave, as a mantra, maybe they’ll actually take solace in God’s Word as they try to understand why this could happen to the child of one so “anointed”.

Thank you for this dialogue/message. I went to Bethel this past May for a creativity conference. I must say it was impressive, but at the same time there was some weird stuff going on. I was trying to be open, but somethings didn’t sit right with me. Being musical and creative I find I am drawn into these atmospheres, but also know that it drives me “crazy” when I start asking myself logical questions based on the Scriptures. My husband and I left the Charismatic Movement 7 years ago but found ourselves drawn back in over the past 3 years. It’s what we’ve known for almost 40 years. We have now come full circle. We realize this is not a healthy spiritual environment to be in and have decided to leave the movement once again. For me personally, the fruit of it in my life has been confusion...and we know that God is not the author of confusion, according to the written Word of God. Could it be that this type of false teaching causes it? I am also tired of so many leaders or congregants giving and putting more stock in so called “prophetic (pathetic)personal words” than in the Bible or Bible prophecy. In many cases, I believe these words are false, misleading, manipulative and controlling. If you don’t believe them and think they are of the flesh or from someone’s vain imagination, you get the feeling you are a doubter or “ have a religious spirit”. My husband and I joke sometimes about why we RAN from NAR 7 years ago. I guess we’re running from it again. LOL. God bless. Keep doing what you are doing. It validated a lot of the things I’ve been thinking about and brought clarity and truth to this current issue.

He suffered no man to follow him save Peter, James and John. Mark 5:37: And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. 38: And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. 39: And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. He put all of them out that were making a tumult, weeping and wailing and only allowed the father, the mother, Peter, James and John to enter with him where the damsel was lying. Without the great fan fair and hyperventilating proclamations: Jesus commands the damsel to arise. Mark 5:41: And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. Immediately after speaking the words, the damsel rises from the dead and immediately walks. Mark 5:42: And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. After raising the damsel, Jesus charges them to not publish or go on a marketing campaign to publish the resurrection of the damsel. Mark 5:43: And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat. I understand wanting to speak on this, but I don’t believe it’s fare to discuss this matter publicly without having spoken to Olive’s parents privately. At this point, the conversation posted in this video is solely based on whatever 15 second long insta story clips or picture captions have been put out on Instagram. Therefore, the full story has not been heard or seen. We have no idea if they have or haven’t grieved or what conversations have been had behind closed doors. This is an incredibly fragile and raw place for anyone to be in and really, it's no one's business to be privy to this information. Furthermore, have you read the statement the Heiligenthal family put out? It said nothing of the sorts of having enough faith, God being stingy with blessing or that he withheld his healing power due to not having the appropriate password. In fact, it said just the opposite. As leaders and pastors, it is best to ask, “How can we support a grieving Mother who just lost her baby?” Have you spoken with a Mother whose lost a child? Have you reached out to the Heiligenthal family, asking how you can support them? Until then, please, protect them and their bleeding hearts by withholding critiques or "correction" until they have begun the process of releasing some of the pain that comes with burying a child prematurely.

I heard about this and as a parent that has lost a son to cancer, my heart goes out so much to these poor parents who are not able to properly grieve but are clutching at shrinking straws as time moves forward. When our son passed away, he was a believer aged 18, he knew the score and so did we. Of course, we prayed to Abba to heal him, to make him whole, but our overriding prayer was, 'Thy will be done!' When we learned he was terminal, we used that time to rest in God's love and peace. Losing a child is the most awful thing a parent has to face, but even worse is having hope in a miracle that does not come to pass. We never did that, we were realistic understanding that God sometimes heals, and sometimes He does not. I pray these parents keep their faith in a loving heavenly Father and that they cling to their faith in the coming weeks, months and years.

Please watch this video from Bill Johnson himself. I am a bible believing Christian who doesn’t agree with all of Bill Johnson’s/Bethel’s theology, but you need to pray about what you are saying, and I say this in love. If you look at the audience of the people who are watching this video, it’s all the same group of people...Christians (which I am one of those) I don’t disagree with this video, but what I do want to ask...is what does this profit?? What does it profit to point out another churchs’ way of glorifying God. Instead of knit picking at what is wrong with another church, why don’t you do what Jesus said to do and love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. On top of that, the greatest commandment wasn’t to point out why another church is unbiblical, but to love the Lord God with all your heart, soul and mind and love your neighbor as yourself...key word there is LOVE. Paul even said to have faith, hope and love, but the greatest is love. I’m not saying what you are saying isn’t done in love, but be careful not to be biased toward a church, or better yet your brothers and sisters in Christ. Much love and God bless. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lcD-rxfaphg.html

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Not praying hard enough, not enough faith in her for healing, etc. At the local Christian book shop, more well meaning people see her wheelchair and stop us, to offer prayer. At the other end of the spectrum, we have met rigid (physically and religiously) people who show no empathy and are driven to tell everyone that they do not believe in miracles of any kind. The last part of the verse that you quoted, and similar verses that come to mind, tell us to "comfort them." Sound doctrine, wise counsel, great. Comfort them. The lead pastor of Bethel specifically said what they are praying for isn't guaranteed and that they are NOT holding God hostage in this request, He quoted Romans 8:28, in that these prayers are NOT always answered. The lead pastor also specifically said it was important to let everyone including the immediate family be allowed to GRIEVE even while people continue to pray for resurrection of the girl. In terms of what Jesus said, He commanded that his disciples go out and "raise the dead". What I find interesting is that you are calling a church coming together to pray "fanfare". Have you guys watched the most recent video from the Lead Pastor, he basically contradicts every point you're attempting to make in this video. So you don't have faith that she can be resurrected, why try to bring division by criticizing other Christians who do believe? How do you "interpret" Matthew 10:8? Also they aren't "commanding God" to do anything. They are seeking His face and obeying Jesus command to "raise the dead". I respect that you don't interpret the scriptures the way other Christians do, why are you disrespecting Christians who believe differently from yourselves? Personally, my faith isn't based on whether or not people are healed or raised from the dead, it's based on the finished work of the Cross, however I don't see what you're saying and doing in this video as bringing unity to the Body, it seems like you're attempting to bring divisions. Here's another great scripture Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it. God is not opposed to confirming His Word with signs. And again, I don't rely on them, but I'm wondering why you are opposed to a congregation that is open to the possibility that God might want to raise the dead?

She HAD cardiomyopathy and heart disease, they gave her 5 years to live...God healed her. I had Lupas, God healed me. My daughters spinal cord was at 36 degrees, God moved it to 6. He is still a God of miracles. If he...in his Sovereignty does not heal, and chooses to receive her at home and heal her there....HE IS GOD and is still good. Faith is invasive and can move mountains....when we seek and seek w all our hearts. I'm not willing to judge and be measured by that judgment of the Bethel crew....bc I'm not God and cannot see their hearts. But God can heal, does heal and we should all be praying and loving one another. It is Gods job to heal....its the Holy Spirits job to convict. This is what I know after being a member of Bethel for 12 years. They have the wrong focus. Everything is about Jesus and what he did on the cross so that we can have eternal life. That's it. Bethel's entire philosophy rests on one scripture outside of the entire context of the Bible. John 14:12. Bill Johnson believes and has said that this truth (this scripture) is more true than other truths that are in the Bible. That's dangerous territory right there. Bill also believes and has stated that God is not in control but in charge. We are to be in control of who lives, who gets healed, it all rests on our shoulders. They are praying for their wiil for Olive to be raised. And everything you're believing to be true about Bethel Church is a very crafty lie and a deception

You believe in a God who does not heal, which is unscriptural. No matter if God heals or not you have not gone to God about your critiques before cursing both a major ministry and a family who lost a little girl. You do not have the knowledge from God to speak on why or why not she died. Have you gone to God about it? I think not. There is a perversion here in the hearts of men who find joy in such sadness to watch a ministry not receive a miracle. Oh ye of little faith to preach an ugly God who wishes death on children. Be careful as God does not appreciate the other side of the coin-which leads people into misery, not comfort-and atheism so that you can feel superior in your celebration of death. Seek your deliverance.

No, they accurate represent what is taught at Bethel. Bethel's doctrine, right out of the mouth of Bill Johnson, is that Jesus was ONLY human and had set aside his divinity when he took on a human body, thus anything Jesus could do as a man we can also do. This is Heresy on many levels. Bethel's (and NAR) doctrines are doctrines of demons. They distort and twist scripture, the quote scripture out of context, they produced a corrupted and highly inaccurate Bible that supports their doctrines, and they have done all of it with full knowledge and understanding of what they are doing. They are way beyond the levels of "in house" disagreement of non-essential doctrines, they are way beyond apostates, they are full blown Heretics.

happiness Hi, yes I am sure lots of people go to a church and it’s ministers for healing. But, my point is that there’s so many charlatans in the faith healing business, and believe me this is a business for some of them. So, sick and vulnerable people who are so desperately seeking a healing at the hands of God, end up walking away from a service desperately believing their cancer has been cured. So, they stop their treatments because, if they don’t, it would show a lack of faith and they won’t be healed. Sadly, they die a few months later. I have heard Benny Hinn say recently, that this has happened so many times during his own crusades. God is Good, He is Good all the time no matter how we feel or what our circumstances are! But He heals people by so many different methods, He created intelligent human beings who have been able to study and learn what medications and treatments will cure, or at least extend a persons life. So, we can see Him at work in all aspects of healing. I can give a personal example, I grew up in a family where mental health problems were rife, my mum suffered from OCD as did one of my sisters who was 2 years older than me. As a direct result of my mums OCD I developed a food phobia and by the time I was 14 I had a nervous breakdown. I spent 6 months in an adolescent psychiatric hospital. But, 6 months after I was discharged, I started to have panic attacks again and I knew that I could be ill again so very quickly, as I was still struggling with my food phobia. So, I got my school Bible and I prayed so hard for God’s help. I started to reading through the Gospels, I don’t doubt I was Holy Spirit led to St. John chapter 14. I read in the first verse “Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me” I read that Christ said “if you ask anything in my name that will I do”. So, I knew the love of God for the first time. Christ promised to send the “Comforter” who is the Holy Spirit to Live within a believer and He would teach us and “bring all things to our remembrance”. So, I knew that God couldn’t and wouldn’t lie!! My fear and panic left me immediately! I actually received the Peace that God promised. So yes, God can most certainly heal a believer. But, it’s important to seek forgiveness from God and seek healing too, both at the hands of God, and at the hands of doctors! Your life is not just precious to you it’s precious to God, and He wouldn’t condemn anyone for seeking healing at the hands of doctors too!!! I was given a King James Bible in 1972 by the education authority when I started secondary school at 12 years old. The name for the Holy Spirit in this translation is the Comforter and this is the most beautiful and appropriate name for the third person of the trinity! So, I have never changed from this translation.

@@RSMunchel "If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you." Jesus did not return to the same physical body He inhabited before His death. He was the first to receive the new, perfect body, that same new body all believers will receive after we are resurrected. He was hardly recognized by those who knew Him and walked with Him intimately, because of this. Thus Laura Clarke's statement still holds true and Rom. 8:11 supports this. We will all be be resurrected with new bodies just as Jesus was the first to be. But this earth, this body, it is so very finite and yet we live as if this is all that matters and all that we desire.

I think the GoFundMe is intended to cover the unexpected expenses. The church should be walking alongside them in their grief. No one should have to face tragedy, let alone face tragedy without the hope of the resurrection in Christ.

I don’t agree with Bethel on everything, but MAN you guys are misquoting them and using their words out of context. Bill Johnson (their head pastor) literally said it’s NOT guaranteed. If it happens, God gets the glory, if it doesn’t happen, then it wasn’t His will, and He still gets the glory. If anyone is trying to “make a name for themselves around negative press,” it’s you guys and every other podcast, article, Church, etc. that must comment on every single little thing that Bethel does or believes. Focus more on telling the world about Christ RATHER than what this that or the other church believes and why it is wrong. I am envious of how much faith they have, and how they take Scripture and Jesus’ commands literally, rather than just writing them off as irrelevant, and frowned upon when we ask of such things to happen in our current era. I hope Olive’s parents, family, or church body never see this. So discouraging how critical you guys are, rather than rallying around them in such a hard time, praying for a miracle and asking for God’s comfort over them IF a miracle for Olive’s life isn’t His will.

Some people may have gone overboard with their comments but there is nothing wrong with what they did as a church exercising their faith. Please stop criticizing the church. If you think there is something wrong with what they did pray for the church. Some of us really do believe in miracles, not just healings but more than that. If you are pastors preach the word to save the lost remember it takes faith to believe in God, the same faith that produces miracles. The apostles preached the gospel and miracles followed as well. Jesus said that we will do greater works than he did because the Holy Spirit is in us. Do not dampen the faith of others if you do not have that kind of faith.

My son died. I had a "false pregnancy", which is not unheard of, and on the day my cycle started and I thought I was miscarrying, I believed I had a promise from God, "He will fill My heavenly halls with many souls." But I wasn't really pregnant...that time. I became pregnant shortly after and at the same point in time my false pregnancy ended I gave birth prematurely to my son, 24 weeks gestation, and he lived for 4 hours. As I went through the process of labor and csection and his passing into the hands of Jesus, people around me were distraught but I was walking in God's strength so incredibly that day...I was comforting others while losing my son and was at death's door myself. Well, he died. And how did he fill God's heavenly halls with many souls? The next year I was at the same hospital giving birth to my last child and the amount of people in that hospital that kept coming to my room to say they had never seen such faith as what they saw God doing in me when my son died the year prior, I didn't hardly get any sleep! This was God's gift to me to see those people looking to God because of what they had witnessed in my son's short life...yes! Fill God's heavenly halls by the word of your testimony! Mine is a crazy story and this is a very abbreviated version, but God used this ordeal to separate me from the "full gospel apostolic health and wealth name it and claim it you gotta be slain in the spirit and expect prosperity" fellowship my family and I were with at the time.
