Watched a couple of your latest episodes and decided to come back and follow you from the top. So here I am watching you guys do what I dreamed of doing years ago. After years of sailing dinghies and keelboats, I built a 39 ft schooner bowed traditional cutter and sailed it in the 1989 Rio Race 🇿🇦.. and back via Tristan da Cunha to Cape Town (THE SINGER AND THE SEA video on my RU-vid channel tells the story) Television at the time was interested in racing not the romance of sailing. I sold Ukelele Lady to a guy who is still sailing her around the world. At 80 I still cruise our little stretch of coastal lake here on the west coast of Africa. So your voyages will be my delight and entertainment for as long as it takes to catch up with you.. if I ever do. Thank you for doing this kind of video. It’s just what sailing needs. Love your style.❤❤ from Nick Taylor. 10:00

When I traveled on my boat, I would use a FLOBEE to cut my hair. It attached to the vacuum cleaner. It worked so well, I stopped going to the barber shop. Doing the great loop is on my bucket list.

What a great idea! I threaten to cut my hair shorter again fairly often haha

Your mate reminds me of a lady I once knew named Destiny from Erie, PA. She was AWAl from the US Army out of San Antonio area. But that was many years ago I was just discharged from the Army and living in the Dallas, TX area.

I would suggest buying the biggest ICOM VHF. They are powerful and are used by most commercial captains.
@SailingSeawind

We have a powerful fixed VHF radio down below and use this wireless handheld for short range communication although it doesn't work very well even in close proximity sometimes...I plan on installing a remote mic in the cockpit that will use the power of the fixed radio.

That’s a great little boat, was it easy to put your mast down?
@SailingSeawind
@SailingSeawind 2 месяца назад
We used a mast crane at the Ashtabula Yacht Club on Lake Erie. The club is member ran, so we would step and unstep the mast every year (Spring and Fall). The mast is 38" on Seawind and deck stepped, so not too hard to manage! Some keel stepped masts on the larger boats were almost 70'!! Those took a crew to manage haha!

I read that 14 feet is the lowest air draft and 6 feet the control depth.
@SailingSeawind
@SailingSeawind 2 года назад
Yes those values are correct. Luckily we draft only 4.5' and with our mast down we are around 10-11' air draft

Great looking boat. Allied seawind right? I really like the dodger. Great idea and looks legitimate as part of the boat. Do you have a blog ? Just wanted check out the build. We are doing same trio next year and escaping south, on Georgian bay at moment
@SailingSeawind
@SailingSeawind 2 года назад
Yep is an Allied Seawind 32 with a cutter rig. I don’t have a blog but I have footage of the entire dodger build that I will eventually be making a video about! It really turned out great. Took a while to get the lines right. I always wanted to get up to the Georgian Bay that was on our list to do before we left Lake Erie but didn’t get a chance
