We camped in almost the same spot at Claytor lake in 2021. It was a stop over between Shenandoah and Smokey mtn. I recall it was kind of an overflow area, more of a parking lot than a campsite. It was April, midweek ,and the place was almost full! And it was the most expensive campsite of our trip! We always enjoy your videos!

Loved this video of Claytor Lake and the New River Trail as I once lived in the area and know it well. I wonder if, someday soon, you could do a video to get us caught up on your current camera and drone equipment or have you done so recently>

I tend to seek free overnight parking when traveling from my summer base in Maine to winter in AZ. Cracker Barrel has been a favorite since my first trip out. I love making coffee, sitting in one of their rockers, watching the sunrise before they open. I may have gotten dinner there the night before. If not, it may be breakfast or, dangerous, the clothing department gets explored.

Wow, the video of crossing the New River bridge where the camera view point rotates around as well as up and down, all while apparently keeping pace with Debbie on her bike is fantastic . I am a novice drone flyer and I cannot image achieving the skills it would take to simultaneously control the drone direction, altitude, speed and gimbal pitch to achieve that video. All the more impressive that it involves flying in the relatively narrow space defined by the bridge supports. Remarkable flying and it makes a stunning video.

We always made glowing jewelry out of lighting bugs as kids - rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces. Of course our parents hosed us down with soap before we hit the hay. No lightning bug guts were allowed on the sheets😂

Greetings from New Brunswick. Yay, we finally made it back to Canada where we left off when Hurricane Fiona chased us out last Fall. We started with a tour of the Covered Bridge potato chip factory and overnighted next to the World’s longest covered bridge. Looks like you enjoyed your RU-vid compatriots. We don’t follow them. We’ve been traveling with fireflies all the way up the East Coast since May. But don’t know if they are this far North. Safe travels

Oh, how fun meeting up like that and making happy memories. I'm trying to get caught up on watching videos since I started on the road and in the air June 28th. I got to visit my friend in Colo. and hike amongst the wildflowers of Crested Butte and camp side by side in our campervans. I visited cousins in Okla., left my van there and flew to England where I tent camped in Hoylake and took in the 151st Open Championship at Royal Liverpool. My mom who passed last year so enjoyed watching golf as I did also and I sprinkled some of her ashes there. I'm now making my way north through Kansas and Nebraska on the way to the Badlands. I'm trying to time it to hit 70's/80's degrees weather with some rain mixed in so I can get a great rainbow shot like you did. I'll let you know if I succeed. Thanks for sharing your time with Lynn and Owen, you have friends for life there.

You were only 80 miles from the Virginia Creeper Trail! Its a 'rail trail' and its free, and very similar to the New River trail, but has a long extended mountain section also.

What fun! Loved seeing you have some much fun. Great way to start a Sunday and I'll be looking for that trail :)

Virginia has a lot of historic Civil War sites that you missed seeing. My state has many sites important to American History, Jamestown, Yorktown, Colonial Williamsburg and many more plus beautiful landscape that includes the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are many camping sites, Harvest Hosts, biking and hiking trails. There is a 52 mile bike trail between Richmond and Jamestown passing lands first inhabited by Native Americans. Next time you visit Virginia plan on visiting some of these places.
