@@commieTerminator no city in the world is perfect for cycling. But perfect banana padta hai. And please stop looking at European cities as roll model, look at south eastern or eastern cities. Aur koi nhi keh raha hai ki city ke ek end se dusre end tak 10-20km cycling se travel karo. But 3-4 km ke liye perfect hai, for school college youngsters.

Best Solution is Decrease the Population Provide job's in that Rural Areas & Slowly Slowly by time Crowded Cities will decongust If go by Fertility Data In Next 120 - 150 Years whole Bharat will Decongust Then it will be easy for everyone to buy Land for house, less human footprint, cities will be like Naya Raipur or Dholera, GIFT, etc Naya Raipur is my Favourite
He never really interrupted me to be fair. In fact I asked him to have more conversation with me and put forward his thoughts before we shot this. Instead of a pure Q&A, a conversation feels more natural and nuanced.
By far the best podcast. Shivam is so enthusiastic and rational individual. Can you do one podcast with Chaitanya Kulkarni? His stereotypical ranting about NRIs will be a good entertaining discourse to this amazingly serious podcast.
people need to understand that should stop asking questions to government they should not protest government decisions if this gov is doing something then they are correct always we should just ask questions to opposition and demonstrating individuals /s
24:50 kya paisa do.. To jaa na apne competitor se compete kar, consumer ko kyu gaali de raha hai.. As a consumer me to chahunga na mera 1k bach jaaye, ya me vistara aur indigo ka report card khol ke dekhu ki kon loss me hai, agar loss me bhi hai to its not my responsibility, mereko bss mera hajar bachana hai..
1:50:10 EXACTLY!!! this type if thinking borrowed from western context and studies is absolute TRASH for a country like us with 1.4 billion population and one of the highest population density in the world. Understand the concept of plenty: 1. You need metro, 10 times the current planned size 2. You need wide roads, 10 times the current planned capacity 3. You need local trains 4. You need water transport 5. You need air transport 6. You need everything that you can think of to move people en mass. Frowning away from expansion of roads specially in our cities which are 10 times dense than Western cities is a crime!!!
One more lane will not solve the problem. The US has 24 lane highways that are still full of traffic. India is not a special case. If you build 24 lanes, you are just incentivising more people to buy cars. If you guys are going to talk about transit, at least get your facts right first. City Beautiful, City Nerd, and all the other people aren't wrong just because they are based in and educated in the US. Roads are just very inefficient at moving big numbers of people. With the number of people Mumbai has, no amount of roads will be enough to avoid traffic jams.
Roads are important for commercial too and Indian is 1.5b where US is only 350million. Indian infra requirements are far higher and underserved for both roads and rail.
@@arindammahapatra5651 That is because of bad application, not because BRTS is bad. Who is enforcing traffic laws? Drivers frequently enter BRTS lanes. When car drivers protested that BRTS was causing traffic jams in Indore due to reduced lanes, the govt tore down the barriers instead of incentivising people to take the BRTS. Do you think drivers did not protest against BRTS in Ahmedabad? They have. But the govt did not tear down any of the lanes. They have increased the coverage. No one likes change. But change is necessary to make Indian cities sustainable. The only way to fix traffic is to get people to stop using their cars and take public transit, but to do that, there needs to be good transit. When people complain about the BRTS lane, the govt's response should be that if people take the BRTS, they can also avoid traffic, not to tear down the barriers.
I loved this format of podcast, Agreed with all of the points, bas wo cycling wala part dil ko toda, mein gali nahi dunga but agar ideally mujse pucho mere fav format then only commercial vehicles along with ac busses would be allowed on all roads, with one lane reserved for cycling, and similarly a lane for walking, aaj hamari cities ki itni humid or pollution private vehicles ki wajhe se hi hain. And ofc metro connectivity better hone ke baad ye viable hoga, mera wala model tabhi applicable hai jab public infra better ho. Just my two cents, agar koi fruitful discussion karna chahta hai, pls karo :)
