Captaincy actually improved Virat as a batsman, even stats will second me. As a tactician he was one dimensional(always aggressive) which worked for him in tests but isn't ideal in white ball format.

The most important question you have asked is “if not Babar Azam and he will be kicked out then who will be replacing him” Same people criticising Babar for slow strike rates and not making quick fire runs are praising VK for making 50 of 48 balls in WC 24 final. Its just the hate against Babar and some sort of Mafias against him.

I got your point. Even after the debacle of T20 WC 2024 I was expecting some mature statement by Babar Azam. The kind of resolve you see when a champion's pride takes a hit but honestly speaking haven't seen that. On top of that the kind of training videos coming out with MJ BGM is just not helping his cause and his image. Babar Azam has talent no doubt but then talent without focus and a little bit of humility is nothing, maybe that's where Virat Kohli or Kane Williamson score above Babar. The humility to take responsibility as a captain and as a role model. The interview of Virat Kohli comes to my mind wherein he states that he was ashamed over his fitness during 2012 and then started hitting the gym coz his aim was to be nothing but the Best. That introspection and setting of High Standards is totally missing from Babar. There is a saying in India that you can take the horse to a river but you cannot make the horse drink the water!!!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cOAOafJcB3U.html

That's exactly what I'm trying to say here with Babars' stagnation and staleness. He's established his talent and promise years ago. That part is done. It's now about going to the next level. It's one thing being part of the conversation but totally another thing BEING the conversation. Idk what it is that is missing with him.. is it an effective 5 star PR machinery that protects his image or a team of experts he surrounds himself that push him to be the best athlete Pakistan has ever produced. And trust me on both those things, the bar is not that high at all!

Brother, Babar azam is an average batter masquerading as a king. Generational talents are rare. If he's considered that, then it's only due to a lack of competition. Stats don't tell the whole story. His game awareness, shot selection and availability of shots in his arsenal is very average.

I don't agree with that one bit. There are plenty of actual experts in the world of cricket who rate him technically. Surely they're not all Babar simps like the majority of his fandom in Pakistan. He's a generational talent because there hasn't been anyone like him in Pakistans' history for at least 20-30 years. You can argue that is because of Pakistan's average batting history and product in that period but that isn't Babars' fault. That along with a plethora of international cricketers who rate Babar is enough to put him over in my eyes.

Can you point me to these experts so that I can educate myself on his abilities? I'm obviously missing the point. Is there a specific match I can watch in the last 4 years where he has had a historic knock against quality opposition ?

1. "Can you point me to these experts..." : Just a few receipts: clutchpoints.com/best-player-in-the-world-ex-new-zealand-stars-big-claim-on-babar-azam indianexpress.com/article/sports/cricket/you-wont-realise-how-good-babar-azam-is-until-hes-gone-nasser-hussain-8337309/ www.espncricinfo.com/story/asia-cup-virat-kohli-on-babar-azam-probably-the-top-batsman-in-the-world-right-now-across-formats-1392107 sports.ndtv.com/cricket/i-must-admit-he-looked-like-ricky-ponting-gives-his-verdict-on-babar-azam-3728426 As for a noteworthy knock, that is subjective. Id mention some but obviously it's not incumbent on you to take it from me. What is incumbent on me and you both is what Nasser, Virat, Simon & Ricky say about him. Obviously you'd need to come up with bigger names than that who say he's "average" to trump that. We can go back and forth with this (apart from what the experts say, which is a shut story) but that is not the point. The point I have made in this episode is that the poor utilization of talent plus his own stagnation and staleness has caused Babar Azam to be where he is today. His talent is unquestionable.
