Sorry my camera flaked on everyone! When we do part 2, I'll get that together, and I'll demonstrate all the parts in a speaker, some of the tools, and give everyone a better understanding of how speakers come together. I'll also pull out a couple of my old Gibsons...and yes, Pete Thorn, I'll pull out the 61 SG Special you're in love with, too. Look forward to doing this right next time...and I'll look for my gold lame" shirts and pants, unless Reinhold has them. Thanks for tuning in! Jim
@@danpfeifer7618 Hey, I remember talking to you. Eden Prairie is still my hometown, I'm just 53 years away from it! Still the Silicon Valley of MN? Take care!
I'm here for assertive Mark, shutting the show down like a boss. Early Tone Talk Mark would have let them ramble on for another two hours while trying not to nod off 😂
Yeah I was surprised. Not that he was assertive. Just that the show ended so quick. I had just got on like 3 minutes prior. I was like dayum Mark! Markll over here shuffling asses out the door quicker than my dad when he saw all my friends in the living room!
@@tone-talk That's ok, a working camera would have been nice. When I figure out what went wrong, we should try this again. I had goodies to show you guys, from cones to frames to guitars...next time.
Sorry that got windy. It was an 8 month episode that cost me $4k. At least the nightmares I had about it are no longer a problem like they were 23 years ago! Thanks for your comment!
@@ScumbackSpeakers i listened to the rest & loved it. I do think you should go back on and do visual breakdowns of speaker components and sharing what u know about materials (cone formulations, voice coil / former materials, etc). When you mentioned the former celestion guy. I knew that guy i think as “dunxb” on TGP. He was kind in sharing info via private message w me which was very important/helpful.
Great show guys, watched later. Dave, my Runt 50 combo has a Celestion Creamback. When you talk about Celestion speakers you like, it seems to be Greenbacks and Vintage 30s. Just wondering why?
Can't tell you, it was just called the Weber Signature 10, made in Asia. I use two 1970 Celestion T9384 10" Greenbacks with the WGS Green Beret 10 in my 4x12 cab.
Scumback speakers are great. Thank you Jim for doing what you do! 🤟 I never heard the long version of the scumbag story.. Queen of the Karens.. infuriating. Great story though.
really bummed that I missed this. Just in case Jim comes back to read the comments; thanks dude! I've got three cabs with various Scumback speakers and all of them sound great.
When I was in grade 12 in oh, 1980 I picked up an old Marshall 8x10 cabinet for $250 bucks. I liked iy and thought the best tonal description of the tone would be sweet. The speakers in it were unlabeled but the had green plastic or maybe bakelite magnet covers so I guessed at the time they were some type of Greenback. Being a teenager though, I didn't think it was LOUD enough so after a couple years of blasting through it with my am at the time, an Ampeg V4, cranked, I sold it for $250 because I needed to get a 4x12 cab like all my heroes or as it turned out a well made 2x12 cab I picked up that I loaded with Celestions.. That 8x10 Mardhall cabinet is one of the pieces of gear I really do regret selling. I try very hard not to sell off my gear any more if I can avoid it. I will sell off my Blues Junior, but the first amp I ever was given,an Ampeg Rocket nodate inside but I'm pretty sure it's from the late 50's, and the last amp I bought, a Friedman Smallbox combo, will be going nowhere. I will be keeping those until death do us part.
Little question- I have a 73' grey basket weave Marshall slant 4x10. As far as I can tell it's full size but may be an inch or 2 less square and made from 1/2" ply. I loaded it with Celestion G(?) 30w 10s in 96', quite liked them then proceeded to destroy them so in 06' reloaded it with V10 vintage 60 watters. My thoughts on these were that they were certainly not great. So my question, is there such thing as a 10 that comes close to the G12-65 that my buddies old 800 cab has? I really like those speakers. Ok sorry for blabbing, love u guys🤘
