The lead singer of Skylark always reminded me of Mr Jacobs, one of my elementary school teacher. He was a towering light skin brotha w/ a natural hair style ( small Afro). Very fond memories.

@@jnadle1 CSNY, did my favorite version of this song, but I don't know all that have been done. This one by Skylark was cool too and added other different elements to its arrangement. It got quite personal and in my opinion it got detached from the original and the CSNY version, I don't think it merged them.

Canadian group Skylark follow up to "Wildflower" in the US was "I'll Have To Go Away" that went to # 106 (Billboard Bubbling Under) & # 39 (Adult Contemporary) in August 1973. Their last charted song was "If That's The Way You Want It" that went to # 55 (Billboard Soul R&B) in January 1974. The late singer Donny Gerrard had a solo career with "Words (Are Impossible)" (# 37 Soul, # 23 AC & # 87 Hot 100) in 1976 & drummer Carl Graves "Baby, Hang Up The Phone" (# 18 Soul, # 23 AC & # 50 Hot 100) in early 1975.

Tonight, I learned something new. The Pips all have names! And apparently, it's been a family affair for all these years. I liked the electric Company wardrobe gladys & the Pips were sporting, made me nostalgic for being a kid again. Dr.John was crazy, he was having so much fun on stage.

Was everyone aware that the timeslot for this series for its entire run, except for the last season (when it moved up an hour), was an amazing 1-2:30AM? That must have severely limited the number of people who saw it in its first run, especially in what was mostly the pre-VCR era.

Besides sounding amazing, in the opening segment, Gladys Knight and the Pips dressed like they were on a bowling team, which many of us were in the 70s. Dr. John, on the other hand, did not look like he had come from the bowling alley.
