Wow been there, done that, part of the hobby unfortunately. One thing I can suggest to help you immensely....attach your siphon tube to the intake of your filter, thereby cleaning without a water change or time limits. If you can't attach it get yourself a canister, hob filter or any filter that you can attach your siphon tube to. Buy a used one if you must, but get one just for this purpose for cleaning days only. You won't regret it...
@@CJSAQUARIUMS hell yea, trust you're gonna love it & never be without again. Once I discovered this technique I kept rolling with it & you will too....😎
CJ I started a new system around the time you started yours. I started with dry rock and cycled with bottled bacteria and Dr. Tims ammonia. After battling things like diatoms, Dino and cyano... the cure was actually investing in a BRS 7 stage RODI unit. I originally had another unit that always showed 0 tds. But after the switch I noticed a total difference. I strongly recommend you give it a try.
Ricky P thanks for the info I did replace all cartridges in my rodi to make sure it was good but you A a great point. Guess I’ll find out when I actually do a water change if my water is bad ..
Congratulation on our Green Bay Packers so let’s get back to the tank you always do amazing job everything will bounce back keep up the good work may God bless you
at 4:12 you mention a bubble scrub. Sorry for my ignorance and laziness, but what is a bubble scrub? Is it when I have my sump too low that my return pump pulls air?
Since you're not worried about doing water changes or running a skimmer - consequently leaving an over abundance of nutrients because of this, are you worried at all that your LR is going to imbed all of this and make it more difficult in the long run?
gil it will not be quick process but once scrubber is broken in. Using that in conjunction with skimmer would export things very quickly.. not to mention additional corals will use these nutrients. Took a lot to get nutrients raised in the tank I plan on using them as a Benifit beating Dino’s and feeding corals. We will see how long this takes...
Nice vid man, I’ve been there in the past and this is definitely not a sprint but a marathon. And you’re right once that algae scrubber kicks in along with the cuc your tank will be golden👍🏾💯
As always excellent vid! I believe the bottom line is most run their tanks too clean. New gadgets are cool but is all this stuff needed. Got rid of all mechanical filtrations and now only use miracle mud and feed real food for all organisms to feast on. Stopped with all that testing too lol. Weekly 10% water changes, tank has never looked better.
Hahah was gonna ask if you got the wrasse from live aquaria I saw it was gonna pull the trigger but you snagged it. All they have is small now I'll keep waiting
Manual removal, always best try keep the natural method till last I have the old green hair algae trying to get sorted the same way. Just got to stick at it!
Lucky you no losses due to dino's. My first introduction to DINO's was through Cyano, which killed the first coral I ever bought, a favia. Cyano crept up onto the coral from the sand bed, and infected the coral. Then dino's came after the use of Chemiclean. Later, dino's came back like you would not believe. I lost almost every coral in the tank this time to dino's.
i love it looks really good, i defeated them doing a 7 day black out and dosing microBacter clean. I also did a light change and all seem to clear up. Your welcome to check out the results on my videos.
