It seems to me that they are really giving you every tool that you need to succeed! I was totally expecting to roll off a bus and get sent to a little barracks with like 4-6 hard hitting demon instructor mfers that wanna ruck 30miles run another 10 then jump in the pool for 5hrs sleep for 6 and do it all over again. I was super excited now after hearing this it seems like they really take care of the candidates and give you no outs idk how they don’t have a 100% success rate with how much aid they are giving.
I don't care if you're going in for AFSPECWAR/ST or chaplain's assistant, what moron mindset does someone have to arrive to BMT not expecting to be walking/rucking and standing all day long and not putting in the time walking 6x/wk in a pair of boots??? Go get a pair of crappy, used, cement-block Rockys and a Jansport school backpack full of dirt and get after it during that pre-acession/MEPS waiting game at least. And if your planning to go SPECWAR, you know you're going into many months of daily gauntlets, you should be rucking like a TACP wannabe and build up that musculoskeletal readiness. Go in with as much swimming each week as possible, those 500's and UW's should be easy. STRATEGIC, HABIT-FORMING BEHAVIOR, WORK ETHIC, MINDSET. There's just so much great information out there (like you gents), and the T3i folks, other paid and free coaches and programs, how is it that "80%" of candidates go in soft or unprepared to something this hard??? Any injury that happens shouldn't be because you went in unprepared.
As a Swim Coach at SWCC and a CrossFit Affiliate owner in San Antonio... I want a chance to discuss and redeem the swim staff! Let's throw down a challenge and discuss why it is not the Strength team who are the best athletes or most fit coaches on SWCC staff! Let me know when you want us on to defend ourselves! 😂
As a 33 year old male I’ve been considering throwing my hat in the ring. I lift 5x a week, jump rope conditioning, just started yoga, I eat well with the occasional beer, & JUST started swimming on Saturdays. Played Rugby & football why back when. I have history with inflammation specifically in the knees and feet yes feet lol How unwise would I be considering enlisting as CCT or Tacp career field? BTW cheers form OHIO
Not unwise at all! You probably have a ton more wisdom, patience, maturity, life experience, etc., which sets you up for success compared to a 19-year-old! HOW BAD DO YOU WANT THIS? WHY do you want this? Do plenty of homework (lots of Google, then a SPECWAR-specific recruiter, not a regular recruiter), figure out which of the two career fields excites you more. Get out there and test yourself on the actual ift within the time frames allotted. Train hard for it. Swim often. Get out there and start building up your ruck march, backpacking, and see how your knees hold up. Remember one thing: If you don't try, you have no idea. If it's some point you decide that the SPECWAR pipeline just might be overwhelming for you, there are still a ton of badass careers out there which are very supportive of Special Warfare and involved on their periphery, like SERE, Special Mission Aviators, ISR, Security Forces (if you're willing to bust ass and bide your time with less-than-badass assignments in order to get a shot at Raven or DAGRE), etc.
@@hammstah9578 thanks for the reply I’ve actually been doing all of the workouts you’ve just mentioned from swimming 2x a week and rucking with 35lbs which oddly agrees with my body lol & I’ve been going back and forth with a SW recruiter! Side note ran into a CCT at my gym so I might start rucking and swimming with him lol Thanks for the motivation 🙌
One of the guys in my dorm at BMT was 31 and just graduated predive. if you can join the air force, there's a chance. There was even a 37 year old in my flight but last I checked he was at white team
Hey guys, I just went to MEPS and completed my ASVAB and the physical. I did the vision test and have 20/20 vision but I gotta say, that depth perception test is a horrible test and they failed me even though I'm 100% positive my depth perception is on point. Is this going to restrict me even getting the opportunity to become part of AFSPECWAR or is there a way to prove my depth perception is fine like it should be.
I failed my depth perception at MEPS too but then I passed at bmt. If you pass at bmt you’ll be fine, but if you fail you’ll be reclassified into a different job. Although I think TACPs don’t need depth perception I don’t remember. The depth perception test is way better at bmt. Way more time and better equipment.
If you're under 150, you need to eat more? What about us little dudes? I'm 148 and still have some fat to burn... If I weigh more than 150, I feel like Aaron at 250!😂😂😂
Quick question yall I've been working on my swimming and making great progress. My question is for the IFT swim. Is the 500m swim one style of swim only ? If I start with a freestyle do I have to free style the whole way ? I know we are either allowed to CSS, Freestyle or Breast stroke.
It is freestyle. That is a term meaning you are free to choose your style. That includes front crawl, what you are calling freestyle, side stroke, or breast stroke. Front crawl is a swimming stroke. Side stroke and breast strokes are both rescue strokes originally.
You will not be allowed to use combat side stroke during SWCC. Sure you can take your IFT with whatever but I HIGHLY recommend being able to freestyle all day even when you’re tired especially on underwaters you will have to freestyle swim back.
I have a question as far as being a TACP and becoming an officer. I want to do both as endgame, but do you guys recommend doing one before doing the other? I am training to crosstrain into TACP but figured I’d ask the question.
I want to be a combat controller. I’m good at running, rucking, push-ups and pull up. But I have no access to water. My school does not have a swim team and I don’t live near a gym with a pool.
I’d suggest two things. Tons of flutter kicks and get the app called STAmina. That app trains breath holds and your CO2 tolerance which will come in handy with underwaters but also regular swimming. And if you can already comfortably swim you can always use a pond or lake or something which isn’t ideal but if it’s available you can try it.
@@DistantThunder89 the only issue is if he isn’t a strong swimmer yet he can put himself in a dangerous situation without realizing and if he’s alone he can fuck himself
@@bixcs2 100 percent. Be safe and if possible swim with a competent partner spotting you for your underwaters. Safety is very important for sure. Didn't want to minimize that so thanks for bringing that up Sam.
