That seems like a MUCH better version of the Wilson brand Walkman I have. Although I'm sure I've seen tons of optimus Walkman like this i don't remember them lol. On a side note and I think its highly unlikely but, there may be a little trim potentiometer inside that adjusts the speed. Alfs tape recorder had one. Aka Gordon Shumway.
Haha I seriously thought I was the only person who knew Alf’s real name! For YEARS I’ve made Gordon Shumway references and NO ONE ever gets them. I saw a couple of pot looking things that had flat head screw looking things on top (obviously I’m not much of a tech guy with that kind of industry jargon) but when I’d adjust them, especially ones near the motor, it didn’t make a difference. I really wish I knew more about how to fix this stuff because I’ve found quite a bit of things that seem like a simple repair would bring them back to life, but I don’t really know anyone nearby to show me this stuff
I bought that new thing that's out called "we are rewind". It's a pretty solid piece of equipment considering its new. NOTHING beats 80's & early 90's Walkmans though. It is kinda pricey at a staggering $175 with shipping, but I had to try it. It is well made. Sold metal outer shell. No wobble or flutter that I could notice. I did have to adjust the azimuth on it just a bit to make the sound a bit clearer. But other than that, I like it. Suckes ya can't change the rechargeable batteries in it, but after about 5 years or so it'll be a permanent desk cassette player! 🤣🤣🤘🏻
Oh wow that is definitely a bit pricey! But it does look like it’s really well made and cool. Does it have a Balt clip? Yeah when the battery dies just plug it into your receiver lol, or see if you can pop it open and put in a new rechargeable battery?
@TheVintageNewbie it is well made. Other youtubers have cracked it open before but I'm not. It's kinda tricky & I'll be happy with it as is. Did I mention it records? You can hook a source up to it & record it. It does not have a belt clip. It's to heavy for one anyway. It'd pull your pants down. 🤣 Mine is blue but I put stickers on it. It looked to blank.
