I finally got around to watching the latest Soft Bulk today. So good! Sarah thanks for talking about your process. It's encouraging for me to know that other people who are making great work don't always have a fully realized plan or know exactly what's going to happen as they make something. I just finished a quilt that started out as me using the ugly fabric for practice, but has become a finished project that I really like. I'm seeking to be more free in my practice and hearing from other quilters is always inspiring in that regard. Also a thrifter! Thanks Heidi, Zak, and Luke for continuing to do these interviews and always talking about your work as well. It's a great big show and tell, and i love everything about it!

I thoroughly enjoyed the depth of this episode. I found it quite thought provoking and kept taking breaks to write down deeper dives to later explore. Math is not my best and Sarah's problem solving was intriguing to learn. My solve came with original photos of the three circles to making a compass with a pencil and string to then folding the circle into quarters to find the center. I think Sarah's way would be far more exacting to suit a quilters needs! Back to my actual wheelhouse, language, with a few quick additions to Heidi's verbs: ripping, smoothing, combing and knotting. So many deep emotions that rise up in me. Thank you all Heidi, Zak, Luke and Sarah.

Had to watch after the fact but so worth it! I love Sarah’s approach to her art. I can understand the math compulsion - I was never a student of math BUT I often draft out quilt plans, do the math just for fun. Often they don’t materialize but I love the process ☺☺☺ Thank you all!

I thought I was was going to put my fingers in my ears and sing loudly, "la la la not listening to Maths". But ... what an absolute pleasure and delight this Soft Bul episoode was.

Heidi you said something very interesting about your relationship quilt when Zak mentioned the blue area. It might be your subconscious talking so I am reflecting back, so it doesn't get ignored. You said... "at first glance it look like a black and white quilt, but on closer reflection it's very nuanced" ... like a relationship maybe ... that appears to be black and white but is not. Just a thought... Anyway... this is what came up for me when I heard you say those words.
