Finding you has made all the difference in my life. I'm 7 months into carnivore, for the past 6 months I have been recovering from an achilles blow up, and still I have lost over 40 lbs. My IBS is gone!!! Decades of pain ended! Being able to frame my relationship to sugar as an addictiion has been key, and your teachings have made all the difference. THANK YOU!!!

Remarkable story. Being human, even the most disciplined scientists can become blind to the obvious, allowing themselves to become locked into an single hypothesis. I really think the current state of medical training is doing more harm to patients than good. It’s very difficult to find a physician who really understands metabolic function and uses that understanding in treating diabetes, obesity and other metabolic related diseases.

@Carnivore Controls Tech The problem is once you reach a certain level where you have to "know" a lot, you get to where you won't question the consensus because you "know" something to be true, and to question it is to admit that you don't "know" something that everyone else around you "knows" to be true. Medical researchers have to be at a very high level, and the fact that those around them agree only strengthens their resolve that they're correct about what they "know", because of this the basics of the scientific method are ignored. In the studies that the good Doctor mentioned, they got results that weren't what they expected, and because they "know" something to be true they looked for why the study was wrong, and didn't even consider that their hypothesis about sugar being good for the liver was the problem, and that's the beauty of having children look at things. They're not yet prejudiced towards one side or the other, they would (correctly) state that the study proved that the hypothesis was wrong, and that they need to come up with a new one. And he mentioned the grant money, it's always the grant money, because the researchers depend on it to be able to do anything (I'm looking at you Monsanto on the FDA and DOH advisory board.)

The addiction model works when moderation fails. I think that the devastating effect on this substance on our bodies and our minds is one of the biggest tragedies of our modern society. It is only after breaking free from this addiction that I have been able to see the hold that it had over me. The Dr.'s video about addicts being immune to risk sums it all up nicely.

I too have a hard time letting go of certain things. Nearly 3 years of keto, now carnivore. I finally have gotten rid of diet-zero drinks and sugar free treats. Haven't had a soda in 6 weeks. No treats in a few months. It seems that I always have to do it my way, instead of listening to others advice. Maybe someday I will learn faster. Anyways, the cravings are finally gone, and I don't have any desire to add sugar free treats/soda back in.

I really wish I knew all of this when I was at least 15 years old. It is extremely sad that we have forgotten so many things that should have been common knowledge. None of us thought to really look at our grandparents and ask why were there not a whole lot of fat people back in those days? None of us even thought to make the connection with the dietary guidelines and the increase in obesity and heart disease among other things.

Thank you for your humility. I have sat in those grand rounds where we have learned that our hypothesis about some physiology is completely wrong and our treatment harmed. These moments keep us humble and learning. This really helps explain why TPN kills livers as sole source nutrition. I do however remember brilliant dieticians in the early 80s in the ICU bringing up brown bottles of MCT oil for the sickest patients who we were trying to wean from vents. She knew. We did not but it worked and I knew MCT oil was magic but only 3 years ago did I know why Thank you.

I saw five different individuals with medical degrees and the diplomas on the walls and they all failed to diagnose acute coronary artery disease despite obvious symptoms. Degrees and diplomas are a start. But they do not indicate competence, and competence is what matters. Just today in my hometown paper is an article in which a Mayo Clinic doc pushes consumption of lots of grains and fruits. Says it'll make you healthier. Guys has probably never heard of hyperinsulinemia.

I so need a doctor like you in Birmingham, AL. When I was still doing keto (now carnivore) in January, my ob/gyn tried to put me on a statin with low triglycerides, 95 HDL and higher ldl. At that time I was 51, 5’5”, 129lbs. He told me to eat egg beaters 😂. I told him I respectfully disagree and I parted ways. My new GYN is great and thinks my bloodwork was fine except that she didn’t think my thyroid was optimal. I had all the low thyroid issues (weight gain, hair loss, fatigue) and no doctor had ever done the full bloodwork. I’m now on thyroid meds and bio-identical hormones. I miss those 1980's muffins! Delicious & huge, washed down with coffee! Remember Mmmarvellous Muffins shops and Muffin Break shops with 25 different kinds of muffins?! Remember Seinfeld's muffin tops episode? yes I have all the bad health consequences now - ugh.
