I’m 70 in 2 weeks and still keen on learning to fly and get my PPL here in New Zealand. Being retired I now have the time (kinda!) and means to tick this off my Bucket List Thanks for this sensibly graduated introduction to flying. Best I’ve come across on RU-vid

@@wisdom._.whispers. It depends on what your aviation goals are. Are you looking to receive a four-year degree? They are not required to work for the airlines but can help. It is your flight experience that matters the most.
I’m leaving the corporate world behind with the goal to eventually go air taxi, as well as fly missions for charity, if possible. In short, I’m just now getting started like you. Good luck!

Really great videos. I’m using them as a refresher now that I’m studying for my commercial. It’d be great if you produced some CPL oriented videos, like explaining the engine components of a complex engine or how a constant speed prop works. Anyway, thanks for your hard work!

I can't figure out how to get the free private pilot ground course on your site to work. I can take the quiz but never get any credit for going through the lessons and a few are broken. But these videos are GREAT

I’m 13 and I’m going for my Discovery Flight on Monday. Any advice? I have experience in simulators so I know a lot of the instruments within the Cessna 172 however it’s going to be a whole different deal in the Piper Warrior II.
there is one thing that i did not understand. forward slip and side slip both almost the same(eilron into the wind and rudder opposite side). what is the difference?
So I’m just some random who likes aviation and I was wondering if every single one not leaving one part of included in every plane even the smallest of course you have the rudder on every plane but are some of the things here more common than the other or are some of the things on this plane specifically made for the plane so no other plane had it? Or does every plane have everything included in this video?
At 8:45 you can see a small triangular shape part connected to the bottom of the vertical stabiliser (rudder)- can someone please explain to me what is that? And it’s purpose
That is the Vertical trim tab. This configuration is a ground adjustable trim tab. The fixed trim tabs are going to be bent to the right adding more parasitic drag to the right side of plane. It is there to help with left turning tendencies. Most larger aircraft have an vertical adjustable trim tab in the cockpit just like your horizontal stab would.

Localizer is combined up with the VOR antenna, glide slope is separate generally located somewhere on the plane where it will have a line of sight line to the glide slope antenna on the ground while on an ils approach.
