I will subscribe. I like the format of the videos for this trip. And these French towns have so much charms in them. I don't know about the distance (comparing to the States Europe is small :), but riding thru France and Spain are my favorite places on Earth to ride. In my view if anyone is making a content on RU-vid they're making it as a hobby, first of all, for themself and others to watch without any financial expectations. If they making a buck or two, kudos to them. Only few can make living off of Youtuve. It requires full-tine dedication, grueling at times. Itchy Boots makes a good living off her travels and it's her full-time job. Yet I'm not a fan. She sees the World thru the rose-colored glasses, sugar coating her videos. They are superficial lacking small yet can be important details which she leaves behind the scenes.

The French touring experience - 3 levels of closed! But on the other hand, you can find absolute gems, like a tiny restaurant the size of someone's front room, that serves fabulous, home-cooked food. Glad you left the bug splat on the screen for continuity & best of luck with your endeavours - you're a good man!

I echo the sentiment that most smaller French towns are emptied of any nice bars and restaurants, a trend that started over 10 years ago already. If you're lucky you could happen on a nice bistro where you least expect it....I have the feeling this is happening over the whole of Europe alas, perhaps less so in Eastern EU countries but these are still to be explored by me. I am a fan of France for donkey years and will remain so for the 15 a 20 odd years I will still be able to motorbike - but some planning and intel helps to make the trips pleasurable. Safe travels...

The problem I found with cutting through the beautiful French countryside was the lack of petrol stations, but as long as you have plenty of fuel it's not a problem.

We found the same thing. It's quite a big empty space!!

Beautiful video of the rural parts of France! In response to your question why France feels more open, I noticed that In the UK, most roads are pretty narrow and bordered by walls and hedges. In France (and Germany as well), mot roads don't have any barriers or other railings except in a few cases, so you can look through corners and generally have a greater visual field. That being said, I do think the feeling strongly depends on the region that you are crossing or traveling in. Anyway, thank you for your effort in capturing the trip!

That makes a lot of sense! Fields are much smaller in the UK and usually have hedge boundaries, whereas in France they are often much larger. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 😊

Thanks for posting. I know that area of France a little and can relate to your experience of "The Quiet side of France." I'm wondering if you have any thoughts about doing the same sort of trip on the V7, 850 Moto Guzzi. (I've bought one and plan on touring with it)

I see no reason why you couldn’t tour on the V7 - it’s certainly comfortable enough, and has plenty of performance for longer trips. I would have loved to ride the V7 on some of the roads we visited. There are some attractive luggage options from third party manufacturers too. I’d probably want a windscreen for a longer trip… I have bought one actually, so I’ll be doing a review of that at some point. Thanks for watching 😊

@@CGRidesMotorcycles Thanks for the reply! Due in no small part to your raising the CEL light issue, I made my supplier update the ECU with the latest update on the day before I took delivery. My bike has not shown any fault light, although it's early days! Thanks again.

Question. What microphone are you using on your go pro 10/11?

It’s a Røde lavalier. Can’t remember the exact model, but it didn’t cost a fortune. I have it plugged in to a Media Mod case. There is a video on the channel showing my setup if you’re interested.

Two things I don’t understand about you and your satnav… The first is why doesn’t the sat nav give you directions for the route you want to take? That’s easy enough to sort out. Second, why didn’t you just ask it where a nearby cafe/bar/ supermarket was to get your drink? Why have the tech if you don’t use it?

1. The software for Garmin route planning is horrible, and I prefer not to rely on Sat Nav. If I see a road I like, I just go that way. When I follow Sat Nav I just don’t enjoy it as much. 2. Opening hours in France don’t always play ball. It was a very rural area and we wanted to get to our destination after a very long and tiring day. Diverting to find shops which may or may not be open, wasn’t top of the list that day. Technology is great and can be used in lots of different ways. I like to have it as a backup. Personal preference.
