Found you on IG, and these videos really resonate. I am also an older dancer (almost 40) who travels about 2 hours round trip to take classes that I enjoy. I never really stopped dancing, but it’s always been on a part time/hobbie basis since I became an adult, life and classes as you know aren’t cheap. I think it’s freaking awesome that you are getting back out there and documenting it in such a raw way. Thank you for sharing

I’ve given birth to two children, injured my right hip twice, have sciatica and haven’t danced in 15 years lol 🥴 But I recently joined the Air Force at 39 YEARS OLD! 😅😅😅 Yes, I went to basic training with a bunch of 18 year olds! After that I felt like I could do anything EXCEPT return to dance. But that’s all I want to do! Your commitment resonates with me so much that I’ll be taking my first drop in class in two weeks! I was never an intense dancer as a kid but graduated with a Dance Minor and Theatre Bachelors in 2019 right before Covid. I’ve been out of the game for 6 years now as paying the bills became more important. I’ve gotten married since then to a man who spends most time playing games so my individuality has been lacking to say the least. I’ve recently been itching to get back at it and my old Company just posted their musical season yesterday. Like you, I have an inner sensation of “this is where I belong” and have had many signs from the universe pushing me towards that way.. So I’m dedicating this year to re-training myself. If not for auditions, just for general health and wellbeing. I agree that many adult dance classes are more just fun exercise classes so hopefully I can find a good barre or tap class nearby my office. Haven’t watched the rest of your episodes yet but excited to watch your progress! Best of luck my friend♥️

I remember my first adult ballet class back after like 5+ years. It was magical, totally felt like home. But I did also think I could do way more than I actual could 😅 I can’t even imagine how it would feel after being at such a high level, to come back after 25 years. Good on ya man. Can’t wait to binge the rest of the series now

I started dance classes in the 90s and more commercial dancing in the early 2000s and things have definitely changed. I started with no RU-vid influence and not being able to document and upload everything I did. And now I’m still dancing, I have my own studio, my own groups AND I record, edit and upload my own material. So yeah … dancing has evolved beyond what I could’ve ever imagined. It must feel very stressful and confusing 😅 but the “dancing” part is still there… you justa have to focus on that.

I have no words to describe how grateful I am you’re sharing your journey! I just found you on IG, came here and am now binging all your videos. Our stories aren’t exactly the same but there are some eerie similarities for sure. So excited to keep following your story!!!

I'm genuinely surprised that you were knocked back right at the beginning. I'm 40 and have continued to dance on and off after my peak in my early to mid 20s because... I love it and I don't want to stop. 🤷‍♀️ Showing up to advanced teen classes is never something I've second guessed or imagined that I'd be knocked back for! Perhaps my unrivalled audacity is too much work for people to challenge? 😂 Truly, though, we have more work to do shaking up this industry if there are still pockets that are surprised an adult would want to build and maintain their foundational technique. (Edited to add, across the floor technique sequences are called "corner work" here in Aus and I haven't really noticed a change in that terminology over the 7 trillion years I've haunted dance studios 😅)
