That would have made me pucker on my KTM, hats off to you for doing it on a Himalayan! Like the others have said, I hope you film and narrate Jen and yourself on the TMB. The interaction between you two would probably be hilarious. Thank you for what you do and inspiring everyone to get out and live life.
Great to see the real nature of your adventures. You are a beginner/novice as a off road rider, yet still entertained me. The Himalayan is a real mule!
Did the TMB about 35 years ago when I was a young man -- you definitely need(ed) to train ;-) Hats off for having a go. Slow and steady worked for me and erring on the side of caution if the weather looked to be on the turn. Hopefully it all went well.
I went over the front and woke up on the side of the rode with broken fingers and a hurt shoulder. It took 10 months for the shoulder to stop hurting. I was 55 years old and 275lbs.
I kinda liked that low camera angle. Some rough roads but your riding skills are getting better all the time. You do sound pretty winded though. I’d rethink that hike deal you were rambling on about.
Second comment for me. Trials bike riding helped with riding every other motorcycle I’ve owned. I’ve had a couple trials bikes and you could ride em in a very small area and practice clutch brake balance. A friend of mine used to just go into the garage listen to music and practice balancing the bike with feet on the pegs static. Anyway your riding skills have improved a lot. Good job.
My electric bike buddy Phillip did that same thing for balance practice. He can just stand there on the bike with perfect balance. Johnny Pow has gotten back into trials riding - bought a little Gas Gas for it. I wish I had the time and money to get into that. It's like - do i spend the little time i have going into the woods alone - or to a trials event? But yeah - it would be so helpful I'm sure... Looks like fun...
I read the others comments before commenting... You already did the Alps hike... we're all way behind the times. Interesting ride, Angelo. I'm glad the bike and equipment took the pain rather than you. With a damaged rotator cuff, you will be favoring that side and stopping to try and help manage the risk... at the risk of losing momentum. But you did great considering all the factors. Loved all the sound effects... they really build the tension for the viewers 😮! Looking forward to the Alps hiking series... assuming you videoed that. 🤔 Gord
By soundtrack I'm guessing you mean stream of curse words?! ha! Yup those vids will be at the other channel whenever I can get that going... it's called Our Exit Strategy...
@@SomeGuyRides Thanks Angelo. I'll be checking that out when you give a heads up! 'Sound track' were all the grunts and groans... the sounds of effort and stain more than frustration.😉 Gord
Dude, momentum is your friend climbing those ledges. Stop it with all the stopping. You can do it. Thanks for another entertaining snippet for my Sunday.
I really hope you film(ed) something from the TMB. Im a hiker first and a mororcyclist second, and that is in my top 3 dream hikes. Would love to see the Some Guy Rides take on that amazing hike.
Those vids will be on the new channel - hopefully sometime soon. Nothing there yet but go subscribe if you have a chance!!! And THANK YOU for being a member! I keep forgetting to mention that that exists in the videos. Appreciate it immensely! (New channel: youtube.com/@ourexitstrategy?sub_confirmation=1)
Mount Mitchell hike from Black Mountain campground is a good one to train on. It's 5.5 miles with 4000ft elevation gain. It got me in shape for Mount Whitney
Cool ride bud. Tore my shoulder tater in 1993. Never had it fixed. It would be worth getting that repaired this winter. You were working that himi over haha. Looked like a good spot to have a xr400 or some kind of dirt bike. Talley Ho came back. I had to laugh out loud or lol these days. Talley coal? Thanks for the effort ang I always look forward to your videos.
Enjoying the ride as usual . I can only guess , but on that rough section I think my little x-300 Versys might seem like a motocross bike (without the suspension ) . First gear seems crazy tall . I have gotten into solo rides where I questioned myself about what the hell are you doing here by yourself ? Does tend to make the heart rate rise a bit . Several times I wondered if I would actually ride out . I enjoy your banter while riding , along with future you . Keep up the hard work .
Yup. Solo riding is kind of idiotic but there's something about it that I love. Knowing that if you get into trouble you're going to have to get yourself out is kind of a thrill I guess. I know that there will be a time when I pay for it... just hoping it won't be that bad!
3 things that can be done. Surgery, cortisone shot, or physical therapy. No guarantee on the surgery if it'll work. An 6 months recovery. Cortisone shots hurt like hell if you ever had one that will help with the pain but, Physical Therapy seems to be the only thing left. so it comes down to live with it. Hope it works out for you. Take care.
Clutch Throttle Brake. If you get a chance take a Motorcycle Safety Course. Lots of practice. For a good example of CTB watch some videos of LEO motorcycle stuff. You are doing great!
Whenever i watch a video like this, my first impression is, "well, now he is really screwed! Guess that's it." But then it hits me, "wait a minute. he must have gotten himself out of it because he isn't posting this video from the middle of a muddy path." And then there's that he said this happened in May and now it's August. He probably already went on the hike in Europe..
I would also like to know what you think of your Himalayan now! I'm thinking of exchanging my ct125 for an Himalayan! Just to have an all-a-round bike. Also, I'll be in your region end of October, could offer you lunch and a beer if you are available. Thanks!
Now that it's running great, I really do love the Himalayan. It's just too heavy, but... That's the only thing I don't love about the Honda. It's great on the trails. It sucks getting to the trails (I'm not a trailer person...) Although I do have a hitch rack now I can use... but...
Although I don’t know how, my doctor says, I must’ve injured my shoulders at sometime in the past. Fortunately, an occasional shot of Cortizone is enough to make them feel like new again. There’s no need to live with the pain.
@@mikeandrews1899 i’m sure that’s true, but I usually have about one shoulder done per year, and it’s helped me through the last 20 years. Yes, I know I’m lucky.
@@SomeGuyRides yes .... the first cortisone shot I got , I thought it was a miracle cure .... but 3 months later the pain was back , got another shot , then another and another , over a couple yrs , It did less with each shot . Then the scalpel was needed , and some artificial parts installed 🤷♂️ kinda wish I would have skipped the corti and went straight in for the rebuild 👌
