This week on The Late Night Vision Show we offer up what is likely our last review of 2022. The brand new Pulsar Thermion 2 XQ35 Pro just hit the market and it is just too good of a thermal scope to not put off reviewing. Replacing the Thermion 2 XQ38 but still coming in at the same $3,299 price point, with all the same great features but an improved battery life and a better image quality, the XQ35 is a great addition to the very popular Thermion scope line up. Hog and coyote hunters alike will love this scope for the image and value offered in such a great scope. Tune in as we discuss the ins and outs of this great new scope.

*** Why Hunt Hogs? ***
Our journey into wild/feral hog hunting started like many others living in rural communities. We didn't start hog hunting for fun or sport... we did it because we had to. You see, hogs cause millions of dollars of damage and destruction each year in rural communities and our situation was no different. Hogs were destroying our land and that our of friends and family. The vast majority of hunting stories that you hear about on this channel are hogs, boars and sows, taken from family land... this problem is personal for us...

*** Why Hunt Coyotes and Predators? ***
Coyotes and Predators, similar to hogs, cause financial stress for many families in rural communities. Coyotes kill livestock, plain and simple. Ranchers have battled coyotes killing cattle since the early days of ranching and it costs them dearly. Cattle ranching is a business, the cows aren't pets, every time they lose a calf to a coyote those families lose a paycheck. Cattle ranchers hate coyotes just as much as Farmers hate hogs! We hunt coyotes to protect the livelihood of our friends and neighbors that depend on their cattle business to feed their family...

These guys are the real deal. They led me into getting the XG50 pulsar thermion. I love this scope for coyote hunting. I have killed 30 coyotes so far with this scope. If anyone knows scopes it's these guys.

Great review. While these thermal scopes are predominantly designed for night use, I’d like to know more about how they perform in the day. I want to be able to use day and night. Cheers from Australia

Yes, you can absolutely use a thermal scope during the day. You just do not want to point towards the sun for... Thanks for watching!

The cost of this optic is relatively equal to the cost of filling my truck with gas for a year and a half. What’s your thoughts regarding if or when consumers might expect thermal imaging supply and demand to normalize enough, that the cost of these optics begin to plateau and decrease, similar to other forms of new tech? Great show.
@TheLateNightVisionShow
@TheLateNightVisionShow Год назад
We believe the costs plateaued around 2017 and have slowly come down while image quality, battery life and features have consistently gone up year after year. 10 years ago entry level thermal was $6,000+ and good 640 thermal was $10,000+. Today you can get a good 640 scope with a better image and way more features in $3,500-$4,000 range. Entry level thermals that used to cost $6,000 now cost $2,000 and include features only dreamed of back then. So we believe the plateau happened a long time ago. We think it’s possible we’ll see entry level prices slide down into the $1500-$1800 range but currently anything under $2,000 is sub-entry level. The scopes you can get for $2500-$3000 today would have been $3300-$4000 a few years ago. The price drop is here and it’s been huge. We hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

Hey Guys! Great review as always. Talking about setting up your scope, what order is best? Contrast, brightness, modes, focus? Know what I mean?
@lukethomason9025
@lukethomason9025 Год назад
In my opinion the order should be what matters most to you and your eyes. I always start with focusing it but if there is time, I’ll try my top 2-3 favorite color palettes and find which one seems to be the clearest for that specific nights humidity, then I mess with brightness and contrast if I think i can improve the image….. most nights though, I simply pick the color pallet I want, focus it & go.
@TheLateNightVisionShow
@TheLateNightVisionShow Год назад
I think focus has to be the most important thing. If your scope isn’t focused then the rest doesn’t matter. After that I believe mode, brightness, contrast etc are all equal and all hinge off each other. They need to work together to make the best image for your liking. And what I like you might not like etc. If you know your optic all these adjustments can be made to find what you like best within about 45-60 seconds max. And if the conditions haven’t changed since the last use there might be no adjustments necessary.

What do they ask you to 0 the scope at . I have been really reviewing this scope as well as the adder. But a lot of people have been telling me. The pulsar is the best. In many ways

While it might not seem significant the TS35 is a 3x and the XQ35 is a 2.5x so there is a magnification and FOV difference that’s worth noting. Feel free to give us a call and we’ll be glad to discuss it in more detail. We’d love to have your business. 877-350-1818

Hi, in your experience, how long does the internal battery last when the scope is fully shut down? Will it drain over time, or hold charge? Thanks
@TheLateNightVisionShow
@TheLateNightVisionShow Год назад
Thanks for watching. In our experience the Pulsar batteries will last a VERY long time when stored at room temperature. I’ve pulled a Pulsar optic out of the safe after 3+ months of sitting there and the battery was still 3/4 charged and I have no idea how much charge was on it when it was put away. Thanks for watching! If you have more questions give us a call at Outdoor Legacy, we’d love to have your business! 877-350-1818

640 is going to win here. The XQ35 will be better in high humidity than the XG50 will but it’s still only 384x288. The resolution difference just can’t be over come.

Looking at purchasing my first thermal. I may have a chance to buy a 1 year old thermion xq38 for around $3k with qd bobro Mount. Which scope is the better scope and better choice the xq38 or the newer thermion xq35 pro.
@TheLateNightVisionShow
@TheLateNightVisionShow Год назад
The new XQ35 has a better image quality, longer battery life and a better image in high humidity/poor conditions. Nothing wrong with the XQ38 but there is no way we’d suggest paying within 10% of the new value for a year old scope. You’re giving up 33% of the warranty as well. In our opinion that’s waaay too much for the used scope. Hope that helps and good luck.
@paulsoutbackgardenaustrali7674
is the only difference with the xq50 is that xq50 has a range finder?
@TheLateNightVisionShow
@TheLateNightVisionShow Год назад
No sir the XQ50 Pro is 3x the XQ35 is 2.5x. Only the XQ50 Pro LRF has a range finder. I see your name indicates your down in Australia, thanks for watching. We can’t advise you on what’s available in your country (we have no idea?) and there are US law preventing us from offering detailed advice for your needs. We suggest finding a good quality Pulsar dealer down there and I’m sure they’ll be able to help explain exactly what is available in your country and the differences. We wish we could be of more help.

How much better is picture quality compared to talion?
@TheLateNightVisionShow
@TheLateNightVisionShow Год назад
Significantly better. The Talion is great and holds its own against other entry level thermals but the XQ35 is in a different class, thus the higher price.

Is it true night vision scope in california is prohibited to sell?
@TheLateNightVisionShow
@TheLateNightVisionShow Год назад
We suggest reaching out to a local law enforcement agency or an attorney to figure out exactly what the laws are but we are aware of no laws preventing a thermal or night vision scope to be shipped into CA. Whether it’s legal to mount to a rifle or not, we have no idea.
