I have read and have listened to Shon Faye and I have to say I think your analysis is pretty spot on.

I want to be a lgbti ally but I become unstuck with this topic. I completely accept gender transtitions but the terminiology is biologically incorrect. Dimorphism is not socially constructed. A man becomes a transgender woman, who we call she and act in accordance to social norms towards women. But will never be biologically a woman. The inverse for women who transition (and intersex people). Am I off the mark? I'm trying so hard to understand. I've hired trans people and work with trans people everyday. I respect and address them by their chosen gender or non binary choice. It's a difficult topic to understand

Have you read any other texts by trans people, or any of the science on gender? There's lots of great stuff out there to help with this. The 'social construction' of both sex and gender is just a way of saying that those things aren't 'essential' - that, in your words, a trans woman 'will never biologically be a woman', is not quite right, because a 'biological woman' isn't one singular thing. Not much space to get into a deep dive here, but there are so many great writers on the science of sex out there that will help.

@@BooksUpClose What do you recommend I read? biological woman is XX chromosomes. Of course many people we think are biological women are actually intersex (but it's still the vast minority). Why is there an attempt to completely decronstruct the current order rather than to integrate trans people into public acceptance at a greater level? Sure working with what people know and accept is more likely to produce positive change for trans people in the short term?

@@scottrickwilksick1678 I would start here, and read some Julia Serano, who will hopefully shift thinking away from 'biological woman is xx chromosomes' - juliaserano.medium.com/biology-sex-and-transgender-people-a-resource-page-4f11b1058103
