Filthy Animals sounds fab. I don't usually read short story collections but I did like Real Life so should give this a go :)

I have already added Luster and Memorial to my TBR as I heard a lot about them. For 2021 my favourite reads (not nessicary published in recent times) were: My year of rest & relaxation by O. Moshfegh, Kintu by Jeniffer M Makumbi , Pachinko by Min Jin Lee and Blindness by Jose Saramago.

I liked Luster, Detransition, baby and Memorial too! I guess I've been enjoying reading stories about trios this year. As a recommendation, I would like to leave Infinite country by Patricia Engel. It was moving.

Thank you Dr Chris for this video. I am always happy with your recommendations and get to learn a lot whenever you speak. 🙃 My top reads for 2021 are 1. Detransition, Baby. 2. The Overstory and 3. Bridge of Clay.
