If we're being honest and objective, KISS were really only focused on records for less than half their career. Of the 20 studio albums they made, they created 17 of them before '96. Which means for the final 28 years they only put out three. Thats nearly a 90% drop off.

You are spot on about creating venues for Avatar Bands who are no longer active. People crave these 70s and 80s bands (brands). I think more than Vegas venue will be coming. This is going to change things. You do realize with the ABBA show they had a band play the music with the vocals from ABBA. Live background vocals.

The Rio is going through a big money renovation - they’re one of the cheapest hotels to stay in. I think Penn and Teller may be retired by 2027, Teller is 76 and he has a very physical role. With KISS already having deals at the Rio, think that is the most likely place where a KISS/Vegas event is going to happen.
@michaelboswell4318
@michaelboswell4318 3 месяца назад
@@muziktrkr The Venue will have to be sizable. I don't think you can just say that KIss will be the only Avatars to be included. I think since Pop Already has ABBA and rights to others you are going to see several Avatars and the venue will need to be big.

Dee Snider sold the Twisted Sister catalog as well some years back. Regarding the places that'll be showing these spectacles, maybe 2027 in Kiss' case like with ABBA is because of adjustments needed in the actual venues.
@johnpatterson4272
@johnpatterson4272 3 месяца назад
Apparently the hologram and avatar technology is not transportable at the moment. The ABBA show is currently sequestered in a specifically retrofitted venue for that purpose. Outside of Vegas in the states, which is a destination for entertainment there really isn't another place in North America for an AI KISS show presently.

A creative outlet needs to be found in using and distributing this product that pophouse acquired including all the songs that were excluded from all the albums that didn’t use the extra songs that were on past albums.

With ABBA there was such a demand for a Reunion for years and years, and what they created was the next best thing. For Kiss Avatars, there is really no demand. I really wish KISS would just let their history speak for it all. It does not need to continue. And there is nothing that will give one that feeling of seeing KISS in the flesh. Now…in the coming years there may be a demand for all of this, but for now we are all confused and it just feels so uncertain. KISS really needed to have an emotional final show, but now they are telling us they will continue? I am just grateful I was a get fan during all the classic years and beyond. I really don’t feel the need to have a KISS beyond their last End of the Road show. This “direction” they are going in feels forced, and uncertain. I just with KISS would have just let us process the last 50 years, and let the memory live on in our minds.

Hi Mike, You definitely broke the news first w Doc. Didn't Ace sell the rights to his makeup to Gene & Paul years ago for 4 million? Also, I could have sworn when I saw the Revenge tour, fueled by VV songs, at the Nassau Coliseum that it was packed. Long time ago and maybe I'm just not remembering it correctly but that was my impression.

Excellent points. There has to be a masterplan, because you don't, supposedly, pay 300 million for two albums and some merchandise (okay, a lot of merchandise) that the big public does not care about. Scary thing is if you're already not interested in flying to Vegas for the avatars, then who will? Apart from that, I'm totally with you Mike about that last show. I'm glad I didn't make that trip. Though I have listened to KISS in the meantime ;-)

I have a feeling there’s going to be a KISS museum but with Gene auctioning off his stuff, and costumes and other stuff have been sold in the past, what would they actually display? Ace supposedly has some archival stuff so maybe Pophouse will make him a deal for what he has. I’m sure Pophouse has been given the contents of the KISS warehouse…remember Paul was posting finds in the warehouse on Instagram and Facebook?

Great discussion. Purely speculation on my part, but I imagine Gene and Paul's "decision rights" are whether or not they'll promote/endorse any new KISS product/venture. It'd be in Pophouse's best interest to come up with KISS projects that G&P are proud to publicly support - which I'm sure they will!

I’m with you Mike at the end of the New York show. I was starting to get a lump in my throat when the fog smoke started appearing and I thought they are finally going to go out as they said with dignity and when Paul started saying we are not going anywhere !..after that big farewell buildup’ you’ll be able to see us in all things all the time..or whatever he said ..the lump in my throat disappeared. They just can’t let it go and leave the legacy intact. One can only assume pop house have done their market research, but Kiss have not got a smidge on ABBA!.. coming from European background. I actually was into a ABBA first before kiss and you can’t compare the 400 million ABBA sales and thousands of streams and sales every day on their back catalogue. Like them or loath them they’re 20 or so number one hits or close to it around the world. I know not so huge in the states, but a very respectable loyal following.. And they did tour the US in 79 and had number one with dancing Queen in the states their first. You can’t compare Benny and Bjorn to Gene and Paul with their songwriting prowess With Abres multitude of hits, compared to kiss , three I think it is over the same period. ABBA’s voyage album sold millions including streams compared to monster and Sonic Boom wasn’t it 250,000 worldwide each if that?.. Yes, Abba was on hiatus For 40 years, but all of the members have been active as artists over the years with own projects, and of course mamma Mia huge success around the world playing to about 1 billion people. Before the year was up the first year over 1 million people have been through the turnstiles at ABBA voyage. I can’t see kiss getting this response!.. Abba has a market in every country around the world.. Especially in Europe, where apart from the reunion, all the pre-make up tours and the post reunion tours we’re pretty much sparsely attended unless it was with a festival with kiss. I’m with Mike, I can’t look at them any more. I haven’t played a song and I’m actually selling my huge collection of kids I’ve had from the 70s 80s 90s and now the 90s and now the 00’s - I’m checking out after 40+ years and nearly 70 concerts attended in three countries for kiss. No interest in seeing the kiss kids avatars, Not another dime to be spent on them.. Over it and out!!

Real KISS fans saw the writing-on-the-wall the day after Dec. 2/23. With the unusal AI avatar push, the COTN box-set duplication and no living, breathing KISS 2.0, it was obvious there is a third-party interest involved. Even Gene Simmons stated several times over the last several months he 'still' prefers a live Blue Man Group cabaret-style travelling show. It's important Mike to understand for most lifelong KISS fans the band legitimately ended the moment at the end of RARAN on 23/12/02 Gene, Paul et al disappeared into the mists of time at MSG, it was a fitting end. We are satisfied to have experienced our favourite rock and roll band in the world, in our lifetime. Now we should all Let It Be.

I think Mike himself misunderstood what KISS sold in 1989. KISS never had the rights to their recorded music. That’s always been owned by the record company. What KISS sold was their publishing rights, to, Hori Pro (or something like that). Anyway, so PopHouse didn’t get either of these things from the sale.

Granted that they didn't make a fuss at the end of the show, but "no nothing"? Paul said "Manchester, this is the last we're going to be together. .... let's celebrate everything we've done together" "Manchester, we will never ever forget you. We love you. Thank you" Were you expecting them to single out Manchester?

From what I understand Ace sold his makeup rights as part of the reunion tour contract. He was coming out of ‘95 w/a bankruptcy. So he was broke. Remember when KISS My A$$ came out in ‘94 the cover had Paul’s bandit makeup. So Ace owned / controlled it then. His perpetually leasing to KISS is just something he says to deflect. I don’t think for one minute he would have signed off on Tommy wearing his makeup if he really owned / controlled it. Plus he doesn’t use it on his new albums, merchandise, etc. seems to me he would seeing how that would sell better than his un-makeup look.
@Playitstraight44
@Playitstraight44 3 месяца назад
I think the contract was signed already , but the agreed-to date for the announcement had not been reached yet. I say that because there's no reason for PopHouse to have invested money into starting Avatars unless they already had some control over the property. Obviously the mockups they showed for the final concert were something they did just for that show. I sincerely doubt the actual avatar show will look anything like that or even resemble the band as aging rock stars. That was to appease Gene and Paul for the last show. That's also why it looked so cheap and cheesy. I feel bad for Mike regarding the final show because I have to tell you Paul and Gene are marketing people. This is what they do. They make you feel invested because they talk about it like its personal so that gets you involved. But at the end of the day, they're selling product and understand fans will justify every time they get duped. Those guys tried to push every suggestion that the last show would be special to sell out the stadium and increase streaming revenue. Ultimately it was a standard show with a cheaply made cartoon at the end. And lets be honest. That was not remotely high tech in the least. Gene and Paul have always understood how to oversell by sprinkling the media with little nuggets of white lies. From there the fan base runs with it and makes it into something the best marketing firm could never orchestrate. And look at the events where fans were left hanging financially. I get Doc might have serviced and satisfied some consumers with not getting what they ordered, but that was never am official settlement for everyone who purchased something. Allot of people still got screwed and I think fans have been way to easy to let them off the hook. At the end of the day, KISS is no longer theirs and fans will slowly begin to realize this trance Paul and Gene had them under to buy things is now gone. Its already happening. A faceless entity is simply going to push out KISS product, but now no one will feel engaged because Paul and Gene are not there to tell you why you should buy it. I'm sure they will be paid to help market the avatars. Hell I would expect them to do meet and greets in partnership with some of the shows. So there will be some "appearance" of participation. But make no mistake, the KISS entity fans grew up with is now gone.
