July 18th 1979 was my first kiss show. When the album first came out I like Charisma a lot but over time hard times and I was made for loving you stand out.
"I Was Made For Lovin' You" is not only a beautiful song. I remember it as a "game changer" for KISS. Far away in Europe in a small town: who knew KISS? All of a sudden this song catapulted KISS everywhere. School girls who said "Rock music is primitive!" wanted this song at parties. Boys who mentioned "disco" were corrected: " No, it's a love song!" And when girls love a song, it's better not to criticise. My hair-dresser is from Russia. "IWMFLY" was a big hit for them too. When a song is gobally big 🌍 I would say: it's the most brilliant KISS song🎶 ever. I love the video too. Paul performs the song vocally AND visually irresistibly. You see and feel he WANTED the female masses (not only the girl he's singing about). For KISS. Mike, you mentioned the Spotify statistics (around a billion views). There are also 734 millions views on RU-vid. Why didn't you mention RU-vid?
Iam not the least bit suprised at the streaming numbers for IWMFLY. It was a crossover hit for the band. It did get them some new fans. It appealed, and still does appeal to non KISS fans. I've talked to many a person that say they can't stand KISS but at the same time they love that song.
I have the 12” extended play single of IWMFLY and it’s fantastic. There’s obviously extra repeats of the song but also some new music and there’s a section somewhere in the middle before Paul sings ‘Tonight’ and that is the greatest! I play that vinyl multiple times when it hits my turntable.
Fan since 76. First show Alive II. When I got Dynasty in 79 and put it on I heard IWMFLY and was like 😱what am I hearing KISS disco??? Oh noooo it can’t be. Well luckily 2,000 man was a better more KISS like song (and it’s Ace singing.) So favorites are 2,000 Man Charisma Magic Touch Least favorite- Easily NEVER liked Dirty Livin’ IWMFLY is ok now. Overall for me I put it at #12 in the catalog
In '79 anything by KISS on the radio was cool. Sure, 'I Was Made for Lovin You' was little more than smarmy pandering to the disco craze at the time and Dynasty lacked the heavier edge of RARO and Destroyer. I was just glad the band had done an album together and there was going to be this massive new show 'The Return of KISS'. I saw them in August 1979 in Toronto, New England was the opening band.
(Fan since 75) My favorite song by far is Magic Touch. My least favorite by far is Dirty Living (I will say that Ace's solo is good). The rest are all in the middle. I like them all. There is no reason why they could not have had another song to make it a full 10 song record.
Mike I’d disagree that Magic Touch would fit with Love Gun songs. I think it’s a fair bit removed and maybe a better later song and would fit better on the direction of Unmasked
That’s fair. Of all the songs I mentioned, Magic Touch is the one I feel can go either way. What about the other songs I mentioned? Do you feel those would fit on the LG album or not?
18:00 As a kid/teen I didn't know much about KISS. But Ace's empty eyes were irritating. Somehow I felt that he was lost and that he didn't see me, didn't want me (as a fan). He made me sad, although I didn't know anything about drugs. Then I didn't like the triumphant pose of Peter. Like he was the triumphator of the band. I felt his 🥃hostility. The Dynasty cover is very authentic. Ace and Peter look absent, not interested. A different world. Paul and Gene, especially Paul look at you and say: I WANT YOU!
@@jamieswansburg9308 ☺️No, but I wasn't born blind. That's all. Look at the "Dynasty" cover. Dennis Woloch told how they had to take photos and Ace was, most likely, in delirium tremens.
After the super fiasco with the four solo albums, the band and management decide to create Super KISS. Thanks to blind delusions of grandeur, Super KISS lose a lot of money on their super tour including the super stage and record a super minus in their books. Simply super, indeed. But the music on the album is truely supergood.
